Re: "Keep Sweet" or I will break you.
What thought seems to dominate my mind is where would I be if the government hadn’t banned polygamy? What would the LDS church look like today? I can only imagine it would be much more terrible than the FLDS. I would probably be a descendant from a long line of polygamists. Rogue men would be squatt...

What do people in Maine have that is so depressing? Perhaps the Nova Scotia accent? Long winters, few people, open spaces and mountains? Few Mormons?

Re: Elder's Quorum Service Coordinator? (Calling offered to me)
When I was EQPI called a service coordinator to help with the 30+ move-ins and move-outs each year. I was so happy to have someone to help, but looking back, it was terrible

Re: "Keep Sweet" or I will break you.
I turned it on for a little bit this week during work, so I didn’t pay as much attention to it as needed. I’m mostly through the first episode. It talks quite a bit about Rulon Jeff’s and all of his wives. Pretty disgusting actually; creepy for sure.

Re: Gathering Info on Orcs
In my journeys having gone there and back again, I have experienced Orcs in the wild. They do not have large brains; rather small indeed. They only know how to Kill, breed, and eat human flesh. Yes, they will defile your wife (or wives) and daughters if given the chance.

Re: Technological advances BEFORE 1820?
The chastity belt was developed in the 16th century but unfortunately was not used by the girls Joseph Smith was courting to be his polygamous wives.

Re: New church membership decline and GC moves to Africa?
I think the church works hard at pushing an image of success in Africa. Sounds very similar to the South America growth of the 90’s and early 00’s. Sure they are baptizing and growth is high. But so was South America and it’s retracted with high levels of inactivity. The church isn’t growing. Conve...

Re: 17 new temples?
Who is going to work in all of these temples? Right now it is primarily boomers. There will be fewer GenX wanting to take that over in the future. Wait until the millennials are retiring. There will be lots of temples with nobody making them. Maybe by then the temple will be entirely automated with ...

Re: New church membership decline and GC moves to Africa?
Interesting. I wonder what makes certain countries in Africa harder to convert folks than others? I still think once Africans get the internet more broadly, there is going to be a significant decline in activity.

Was Jesus a martyr?
One of the big things with Mormonism is that Joseph Smith was a martyr. Killed for the word of god, which cemented a faithful following because he was unjustly killed. While Christianity believed Christ died for our sins, the message today isn’t that he lay down his life. Do Mormons believe Christ w...

When did Zion stop being the goal? Maybe 1924
When did the church stop seeking Zion and change its priorities? In a KSL article out today, it talks about broadcast news. In salt lake, KSL started as KZN, which translates to KZion. In 1924 it rebranded as KSL ….is this when the goal of Zion may be been abandoned? “Broadcast news hit Utah by stor...

New church membership decline and GC moves to Africa?
SLtrib: “While the church enjoyed small gains in membership growth the past two years globally (up 0.8%) and nationally (up 0.6%) amid a worldwide pandemic, more than 40% of U.S. states (21 plus the District of Columbia) saw their numbers decrease during that time frame. California (down 2.84%), Nor...

Why did the church build a temple in Rome? This had to be part of the rebrand. All the apostles attended the opening. There are not sufficient members in the area to support such a temple…
