Re: The Mormon church is looking to crack down on... garments?!
One recent thing said by some church leader (I don’t know who) was the garments remind us of the veil. This sounded like some new gospel approach, but I’m not entirely sure. One thing we learn in the temple is the marking on the individual garments are found on the veil. I suppose the garments do re...

Re: The Mormon church is looking to crack down on... garments?!
Something that dawned on me the other day is how the church really likes to oppress women. In the United States, the government has recently cracked down on women rights. Roe v Wade was overturned. States went crazy and exacted archaic laws to take away women rights. The church then piled on and cra...

Re: The Mormon church is looking to crack down on... garments?!
The deeper concern from members not wearing garments all the time is that of jealousy. Nobody likes garments. They are worn as a sacrifice they are making. When women see other women wearing yoga pants all day and athletic wear instead of garments, they instantly become jealous. If there was a new r...

I’ll give you baklava as a most valiant pastry.
I used to be fed tripe in menudo and it often tasted and smelled like you might think. Surely that was more offensive than the bold and inspiring smell of mountain grown coffee.

What is the purpose of religion?
It seems to me the purpose of religion is two fold. 1) when religions first started, millennia ago, they tried to explain the origin of man. Where man came from, why we are here, etc. There wasn’t much science so nobody really knew. 2) Death- people fear death and the unknown. Religions usually try ...

LD$-Inc. could even start selling Consecrated Sharpie's. Or better yet: Since believers like to pull ...

Would you do it all over?
I was thinking today about if I were not Mormon and knew what I know about Mormonism, would I ever join the church? The answer was undoubtedly No. I would never join Mormonism knowing all the church history, messed up racist and sexist doctrines, protection of sexual predators, and deceptive and dis...

Re: The Mormon church is looking to crack down on... garments?!
Young people particularly hate wearing garments. They hate being controlled. This will go over like a fart in church.

Yes, this should be a safe place. If someone has bad feelings toward any member of this circle, they should take them to mormondialogue.org.

Re: Teaching the wrong stuff
So, if the issue is not necessarily the guns, but mental health, why is mental health much worse in general across the USA than in the 1970s and 1980s?

Re: Question on Mormon Cooking
I have Mormon cooking questions, too. 1) do you have recommended cooking wines? I need to get some that aren’t the kind from the Utah grocery store loaded with salt. 2) Is it okay to bring a good tiramisu to a ward function? 3) is it still a thing to add ground up pinto beans to zucchini bread? See...

Re: Tithe or you'll be burned?
Can you imagine if other charitable organizations acted like the church does? March of Dimes: if you do not donate 10% of your income to our cause, you will burn in hell. St. Jude’s: if you do not donate 10% of your income to children’s cancer research, God will curse your children and grandchildren...

Re: The church and Equal Rights for women
I find it odd that few women called to the general boards of primary, Relief Society and Young Women are the stay-at-home moms that the church has proclaimed women should be. They do not follow the prescribed path.

The church and Equal Rights for women
Can someone please remind me of the church’s stance on ERA from the 1970s and if the stance has changed since then?

Re: How do you define Mormonism?
I love that. I would add… Mormonism is a time consuming lifestyle made up of a series of non-standardized rules that each church member and leader personally interprets differently and then expects everyone else to abide by their own interpretation, that ever so slowly evolves from generation to ge...

How do you define Mormonism?
I’ve been thinking about how I define Mormonism and have settled on this:
Mormonism is a series of non-standardized rules that each church member and leader personally interprets differently and then expects everyone else to abide by their own interpretation.
How would you define Mormonism?

Book of Abraham Apologetics History
I’m wondering if there is a timeline or account of when LDS apologetics regarding the Book of Abraham started changing their insistence that it was literally written by Abraham to realizing that the book had nothing to do with Abraham….but instead was a common scroll. When did church Egyptologists s...
