Re: Church backs away from conversion therapy

"We have repeatedly stated the church denounces any conversion or reparative therapy that subjects individuals to abusive practices, not only in Utah but around the world," Who exactly is the "we" referred to here? Dallin Oaks oversaw electroshock and vomit aversion therapy at BYU, but he also said...

Re: Missionaries can call home weekly now

Enjoyed this thread! I’ve been amazed at the range of comments on fb: * haha, jokes on them I called home whenever I wanted to anyway. * wimps! When I was a missionary....I didn’t even call home when I could! * it’s about time! I knew this was wrong 20-30-40 years ago! * this is ridiculous, sacrific...

Re: New Gospel Topics Essay - BOM Geography

Is this new? I hadn’t seen it before.

I remember return missionaries from New York telling stories of farmers digging up arrowheads and weapons all over that area..... I mean that’s what they were told. They never actually saw them.

Re: Next change predictions

The results of an area authority council have trickled down to my calling. If it’s anything to go by, some of the rumors I’d hoped were coming true, aren’t. Doubling down on 24x7 garment wearing (those youngins today find too many excuses to take them off and not put them back on fast enough), pushi...

I wonder what is costs to rent out these stadiums. They just did this in Seattle too. Money to burn, apparently.

Re: Another devotional aimed at keeping believers from looking behind the curtain - this time @ BYU

I'm tired of the Brethren making vague references to historical issues they claim they have answers to without ever explicating the issues, never mind providing the answers. Put up or shut up. I think it's pretty clear that Elder Corbridge's answer is, "It doesn't matter." I think it's equally clea...

I enjoyed this article:

Apparently she documented her faith journey on social media and it had a powerful impact for some followers. I respect that. It makes me wish I was more brave.

Good luck.

The less you say the better you'll be.

"Bishop, I'm dealing with a bout of depression and need to reduce my life responsibilities including my church calling. It's been fun, thanks for understanding. I'll see you next Sunday!"

Then fade away as needed.
This. And good luck!

Re: Spiritual Muscles

Interesting thread. In meetings this last week (some may recall that I’m still faking it and several months ago accepted a calling that requires wayyyyy too many meetings) there is a real awareness of the exodus especially among the youth. And discussion after discussion ensued about how to truly co...

Re: The changing face of LDS INC under RMN...why the rush?

My TBM Mother assured me that all these changes are because Jesus is coming, like really soon guys. That was the consensus during ftm at church two weeks ago. The bishop started crying about how the wheat and tares are being separated now. My lovely wife just looked at me and rolled her eyes. She i...

Here’s the Ballard quote: That you will let your voices be heard, we cannot, we cannot meet our destiny as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in preparing this world for the 2nd coming of the Savior of the world without the support and the faith and the strength of the women of this chu...

Re: Who said it?

I’ll try one. I am fudging with the quote a bit to make it not so obvious though. I can put up the true quote if anyone cares (I substituted 2 words). “Now, women, while your input is significant and welcome in effective meetings, you need to be careful not to assume a role that is not yours.” A) D...

Tough stuff. You’ve been doing it longer than I so I only have empathy and support for your situation. My DH is pretty mellow and generally accepting of my views that I forget and sometimes he feels I cross the line and stomp on him. I hope I get better over time addressing my concerns and he gets b...

I don’t want to overstate by saying I “miss” Azrael but he did give me some interesting reading for a few days!!
