Re: Susan Easton Black Rips Benjamin Park a New One

I was pleased The Interpreter Foundation invited me to review Kingdom of Nauvoo. The promise of writing a short review gave me reason to pause from my life’s ventures to read yet another book on my favorite travel destination. Hope she still has time to catch a rerun of Anthony Bourdain. For furthe...

Re: Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922

I have a thought for the presented argument that facts are not needed, and all that is needed is for apologists to say anything and that will keep members in tow:
"When tapirs are horses, apologists may ride."

The photo that cracks me up is the one of the Bednars and how his wife has to wear a mask in his presence.
Just a precaution to ensure the safety of the Brethren.

Re: LDS Church proposes new community near future Tooele Valley Temple

Yesterday, my wife and I signed the petition to oppose the high-density housing in Erda while still allowing the temple. NewLight, while the proposed Church land development probably does not make sense from a land-use planning point of view, the Church always gets it way in Utah and Tooele does no...

Secret Mormon Meetings of 1922

Found this incredible Dehlin podcast on Mormon Stories about B.H. Roberts. Thought you history buffs would be interested. https://www.mormonstories.org/podcast/b-h-roberts/ This is an interview with a Shannon Caldwell Montez – who recently completed a Master’s Thesis at the University of Nevada – Re...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

What’s with all the wine haters? Even Jesus drank wine! Didn't he go in for that non-alcoholic Martinelli stuff? TBMs can no longer drink that stuff because of the shape of the bottle in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety. I think that is also why Jesus insisted on non-transparency for hi...

How/why did sexual reproduction begin?
After a while, some of those cells took on curvaceous shapes and started to undulate their flagella enticingly. How could another membrane encased cell resist? This is a family board, so just imagine some fireworks. ;)

That episode truly was a great aphrodisiac!
I wondered if Professor Hauglid may have been searching for the words analgesic, or antipyretic, or even antiemetic, but I am glad RFM talked him into keeping aphrodisiac.

Europeans were blown away by the speed and capabilities of the Polynesian sailors and their craft, which could leave a British a brigantine in its dust and had already been everywhere else in the South Pacific.

What are you doing to protect your family against depression?

Speaking of resources to protect your family from depression, the Salt Lake Acting Company is ending its forty year run of the much-loved play Saturday’s Voyeur. Even though this is a bummer, there will be other ways families can cope with Utah living every summer. Don't despair!

This isn't jiving with my theory that the Cureloms and Cumoms built the stone heads on Easter Island as a tribute to the fall of their friends the Nephites.

Two Prime Issues at the 2-hour mark of this Podcast : 1. Honesty is the best policy for the long term sake of everyone concerned with the Church. 2. Dishonesty is the best policy in order to retain members and make the job of apologists easier by not having to explain so much. --------------- Finis...

Why does a "Church" need or employ "Real Estate Developers???"
Because real estate is a lucrative money maker. As Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé would say, "Moniness is next to Godliness".

Re: An integrity crisis?

When I read such stuff my immediate reaction is to turn to religious teachings: We are all miserable sinners, but God loves us anyway and wants us to feel better about ourselves, just like He does. I would call the friend who left and invite him to lunch. He may want to share what happened or he may...

Re: What aspect of Mo’ism do you still hold dearly?

Other people’s answers, well there are people just as kind who are not Mormon. Now you are getting technical. If I said Mormons like to drink a mixture of milk and Pepsi, could we just pretend that only Mormons do this while reserving the thought in the back of our minds that others also drink milk...
