Re: Lost letter from Fanny Alger found!

But Red Ryder...I'm also wondering if you are pulling my leg..... :D Chances are that if you see it in print it must be true. ;) BTW, exact terms of Fanny "Stormy" Alger's non-disclosure agreement have not been revealed, but it is rumored that she has purchased an 1833 Conestoga Wagon GTX. Funny st...

Re: Elder Bednar's latest tithing story

The very latest tithing story from today's media event is that Nelson announced that not only was he a brilliant wealthy surgeon, but that 1-general authorities do not pay tithing and 2-general authorities are paid via tithing funds. But people who can't afford to pay rent or eat should pay tithing...

Re: New First Presidency

I wonder if they're going to make Uchtdorf go on a humility tour where he has to talk about his demotion in every talk. I'm glad they have not chosen to humiliate Uchtdorf by making the members choose between Uchtdorf and Barnabas at the April General Conference and then having Uchtdorf carry his c...

Re: Why do Mormons give Trump the highest approval rating?

Hearing that Trump is fighting to do so, even if he uses strong (not racist) language isn't going to offend his user base. I think they eat it up. Same thing when Trump declares that he would prefer Norwegians as immigrants. They too want such Nordic immigrants that look just like Jesus. Nothing ra...

Re: Uchtdorf is out, Oaks is in...

It seems only natural to want your strongest general by your side if you are going to escalate both the ongoing Mormon War against the Gays, as well as launch a new counteroffensive on heterodoxy. Oaks will probably spearhead the creation of several covert groups such as Angry Moms for Marriage, Pol...

Re: Elder Bednar's latest tithing story

The ex-Mormon subreddit has two independent posts retelling a story that Elder Bednar told in a Southeast regional conference talk today. A father who had not paid his tithing in some time and had let his temple recommend lapse had a daughter who was going to get sealed in the temple. So he decided...

Re: "Young Sheldon" Mormon librarian

What a bummer. I decided to watch a live stream of that episode and as soon as I got to the Sunday School portion and they got toward the end of reading the Lord's Prayer, at minute 16, the sound cut out. Sort of like it had been deliberately removed because the video portion was unaffected.

Re: An open letter to Thayne

I would like to see it preserved simply for historical purposes. A lot of history gets put on the internet and a lot of it disappears. Someday people will wonder why there is so much history missing since 1996. The answer is it was stored on magnetic or optical media that was taken offline. You can'...

Trump as Grand Nagus of Ferenginar

Wish some other place could make Trump a more flattering offer such as naming him the Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Home World. He could make a terse farewell speech and Kremlin could give him a solid gold pair of ear extenders together with some promo materials on Russian petroleum trading. The LDS Ch...

Re: Why do Mormons give Trump the highest approval rating?

I don't get how people say Trump is a racist. Just because of his numerous remarks over the last four decades? I mean, he might have referred to some countries whose residents have a bit darker skin as s***holes, but would anyone call that racist who worked at the Church Office Building? He also pub...

Re: Why do Mormons give Trump the highest approval rating?

Blood is thicker than water and politics is thicker than religion. Utah is a place where Trump's approval rating has increased since the election. How about this as another platitude: Mormons care not about the arts, sciences, and philosophies of men; they are interested in the business ledgers. Eve...

Re: Questions from the NY Times Obituary

Inside the church Pres. Monson isn't seen as a force for LGBT rights or Women's rights, but outside the church, many probably perceive him that was. I never had the impression that President Monson spearheaded Proposition 8 or was a driving force behind the continuing Mormon war against gays. He di...

Questions from the NY Times Obituary

I was reading an intriguing thread on the Mormon D&D board when I ran across these questions which arose out of the Mormon response to the Thomas Monson obituary: 1. Do you think that having the church be instrumental in the passing Prop 8 was a big achievement of President Monson's presidency? 2. D...

Re: Russ Nelson announces

Wonder if it could be: 1. Announcing his picks for First Presidency Counselors. 2. New handcart companies to help expel the infidels from Zion. 3. Announcing the formation of the PACLDS (political action committee of the LDS Church). 4. That the theory of evolution will no longer be taught at Church...

Re: Trying to Get a New Monson Obituary Written by NYT

I wonder if instead of a new obituary, they could settle for President Boyd K. Packer's recommendation that instead of offering any tribute to the deceased they should make it into a missionary chance to spread the gospel. Maybe they could offer the New York Times readers a chance to learn more abou...

Re: Moved, problems adapting.

Isaac, I want to say I am impressed by your writing. It is so good that I wondered if it was written by an older person who was trying to yank our collective chains. I couldn't help saying to myself that the writer had a wonderful vision of a 15-year-old Utah boy taking his upbringing to a new envir...
