Re: Prosperity Gospel Condemned by Vatican

Just want to stir the pot a little by pointing out that having "the faith not to be healed" is an anti-prosperity-gospel doctrine. Funny thing is I know absolutely no one that believes this. I don’t even think Bednar believes this. Perhaps Elder Bednar was running out of ideas when he came up with ...

Re: LDS version of punishment

So, you have someone who is a total creep: hurts people, lies, cheats, kills, hurts animals,...etc. And....<<drum roll>>....he feels bad for what he did and that is the whole punishment? I think it is proper for the individual emerging from the heavenly memory lounger to have regrets for mistakes t...

Meilingkie, you've been a gentleman and a scholar on NOM and NOM 2.0. Your reports on the Church in the Netherlands were very eye-opening. Best wishes and happiness in all your future endeavors. If you ever feel like updating us, we would love to read about it.

I imagine if this was at some location outside the Jell-O Belt, a judge would let this case go to trial.

Re: Impractical, uncomfortable, and unsightly

1. The report seems to indicate a greater willingness to drive dissenters out of the Church in 1934. Perhaps that was due to phenomenally high Mormon birthrates. This attitude was not prevalent in 410 AD when the VisiMormons sacked Rome. This was probably due to a high mortality rate during the sieg...

On the contrary, it should be the job of his family and the church to lovingly demonstrate the blessings and benefit from continuing to be in the church.
The Chuch should demonstrate continuing support since that would be the right thing to do.

She had nice a nice seatbelt... Glad you can appreciate a well-crafted set of seatbelts. I understand Satan encourages phone usage, texting, and listening to conservative talk radio while driving. You can thwart Satan by keeping your eyes on the road and listening to All Things Considered on NPR.

Giving Prayers in Gospel Doctrine Class

Called upon to give a prayer in Gospel Doctrine class? Never be at a loss for words if you jot this down on a note card and keep it in your wallet. Oh, God. Thanketh thee f'r this lesson to nourish and sanctify the souls of all who did listen to it. We prayeth to thee f'r moisture in this the latt'r...

Re: My list/summary of why the church can't be true...

If the same priesthood is here, just like biblical times, then we would see miracles today. The criteria for what would be accepted as a miracle has changed. In the past, if someone blew a mouthful of cornstarch at a flame they would say it was a fire-breathing miracle. If someone did it today, we ...

It is interesting how old stories from the past have some actual archeological evidence. The Sumerian city-state of Uruk actually existed and there is evidence that Gilgamesh was a historical king. But did he aid the goddess Ianna or hang around with his buddy Enkidu? The city of Troy was discovered...

In Praise of the Seeker

The following is by a poster name HappyJackWagon on another forum. It seems to me that in life, society tends to praise the seeker, whether it be an investigative reporter digging for the truth, a student reading voraciously to understand a topic, or an attorney digging through case law. And it shou...
