Re: What’s wrong with the cross?

The cross is the international sign of Christianity, but for many years the LDS Church has held itself out to not be part of traditional Christianity, but more of a fourth branch to the Abrahamic tradition: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Mormonism. Not having a symbol other than the dollar bill, ...

From this day forward Kirton and McConkie's primary purpose will be to protect, defend and promote healing for victims of sexual abuse, rather than protect and defend their abusers.

19th Century Sex Trafficking Allegation

Hey, has anyone heard about the alleged practice of sex trafficking women and girls from Western Europe (especially England) to Salt Lake City in the 19th Century? Apparently, they were fraudulently recruited into some multiple bride scheme. It is said they were virtually trapped by some group under...

They look you straight in the eye and tell you that listening to the sociopathic ramblings of Oaks and Bednar is exactly the same as listening to Jesus Christ.

Re: The Q-15 has a safety net. How would it work in a crisis?

I think there is a contingency plan to build an impenetrable Fortress/Temple on the island of Tonga for the Brethren and their families to abide during times of upheaval, such as the bulk of the saintly membership embracing Trump as the new QAnon Messiah (please keep this a secret).

We used to play a game by adding the words "between the sheets" after reading fortune cookie messages. Perhaps the Ryder family could do something similar when listening to General Conference in the car.

Re: Fantasy has its place

Yes, I thought Urth was kind of an unnecessary sequel, interesting in parts and maybe a little too out there in others. Maybe I would feel differently were I to read it again. (It's been many years.) Urth of the New Sun seemed to tie everything together for me, especially because I read The Shadow ...

Why untangle it? It is merely a tale that was written down after the Babylonian exile. Nothing as old as the tale of Gilgamesh and certainly not as creative as Beowulf. The Desiderata contains something much more worth pondering. https://i.etsystatic.com/14165499/r/il/20f33e/1366370404/il_570xN.1366...

Trump announced on Hannity's program on Fox, that he has the power to declassify stolen top secret documents just by thinking about it. To bolster this claim, both Fox and the Republican Congressional delegation will testify that Trump's mental telepathy is real and cite Q-anon evidence of Moon Quak...

Unfortunately, the official site of "Noteworthy" while announcing a new director offers no thanks for the services of past director Scott Shattuck. Apparently, Shattuck chose to let his temple recommend lapse, and says he has no plans to renew it. Do the performers have any say over what appears on...

The Book of the New Sun is my favorite science fiction work. I don't read nearly as much fantasy as I did as a kid but I still read a fair amount of SF.
Gene Wolfe was one of the best writers with that series being his most outstanding work. Have you also read Urth of the New Sun?
