Re: Is NOM really "middle way" to any extent anymore?

I'm just going to jump in here with my 2 cents. I began posting on the old NOM back in early 2012. Life really sucked back then and did so for several years. My shelf fell in 2011 surrounded by a boat load of TBM friends, family and the husband. I had no one to talk to and I was trapped; suffocating...

Re: 7 down 1 to go!

Good for you SNE. It's fun to share a world view (NOM) with family members. Just remember to love and value all your kids the same. Forgive me for sounding preachy. I was was just thinking about my half in half and half out family. I try to avoid drawing lines that include or exclude. :) NP. It is ...

Re: Utah Cheerleaders Dismissed

This is so Utah. I bet if those girls are Mormon a lot of shelves came crashing down over this or at least big cracks. All I can say is I am so glad I no longer live in Utah.

Re: 7 down 1 to go!

Some of the most wonderful times I have had with my adult children are with the ones who have left the church. Nothing like raising a glass or too to bring us all together. No family temple trip ever did that! I won't pretend it was easy to get to this point because it wasn't. There were many times ...

7 down 1 to go!

Yesterday I met my DD for lunch. She happened to be in the area for business. She's the one who about 3 years ago went through the temple for the first time. I of course couldn't go with her. As I sat across from her I couldn't help but admire and comment on the beautiful sleevelesss top she was wea...

Re: Sam Young Stands Alone Against Elder Christofferson

I cried when I saw his post. My emotions were a mix of anger towards the cowards who moved away from him and Elder Christofferson and his minions. I also cried out of pure love and honor to the magnitude of Sam's courage and strength to stand alone for what he believes. I wish I could have gone, sat...

Had a good time visiting today. Saw some old faces and some new faces. With my memory, maybe the new faces were old faces. :D Anyway, keep on keeping on. I was there too! It felt good to just be in a room with such great people. I have missed that. Since I now live closer to utah I hope to visit th...

Re: Poll: Mormon identity and its effect on emotional health

I'm no longer Mormon. I'd describe My current beliefs as agnostic atheist. My choice to be a ex Mormon brings me much joy and freedom. But when I think back on my years spent in the church it gives me great anxiety, sadness, embarrassment and incredible regret for all those major life decisions I ma...

Re: KiwiMormon is officially done with Mormonism

I tried for years to see my way through this impasse, furiously sharing my disappointment, arguing for better, trying to describe the outrage, studying church history, listening to too many podcasts, writing, speaking and agitating for change. Not because I hated the church, but because I loved it....

How about filling the hole with adventures and tales of discovering this beautiful world we were told would be a dark and dreary place! Fill it with new ideas, thoughts, people, places and anything else you find along the way!

Re: Relevance of Proclamation on the Family

When the proclamation first came out the bishop read it over the pulpit. I was sitting in the congregation with my family that consisted of me, a single divorced mom with my 8 kids with one being pregnant, unmarried, and 17 and another one yet to come out. . It was a huge shelf cracking moment. The ...

Re: Do I have regrets?

Thanks for posting. I fluctuate back and forth. I have always said I will resign once my mom passes away. But I have an inkling that it would deeply hurt my husband's feelings. I am still torn. I don't think anyone of us want to hurt anyone. I resigned after my parents passed so didn't have the iss...

Re: Do I have regrets?

Congrats SNE! I remember your posts describing your mental tug O war on the old board and talking about resignation. I think my views have changed significantly in the last year. I used to think resignation was pointless. The church kept you in the database (and probably the 16M member count) and r...
