Re: A God of pleading not for me
I get that people want there to be some being that really cares and is going to relieve them from their ailments or pain, but I do not see any widespread evidence that he does. The benefit might lay in the comfort that such a faith provides by itself, rather than in any act of supernatural interven...

A God of pleading not for me
I was thinking about the priesthood blessing thread and I wonder if Mormons realize they have created a God who requires constant begging and pleading to get the most minuscule result. A god the requires huge amounts of energy on a daily basis yet gives no to tangible evidence that he is even listen...

Re: Priesthood Blessings Examined on New RFM Podcast
Is there really any difference than the old time faith healers that would travel around and claim to heal at revivals?
If you can not do something you claim to be able to do is that not fraud?
I wish they really did have the power to heal. Think of the value of that.

Re: Can The Church Handle Really Big Problems?
I have a new idea for the church. When faced with any issue prayer is not the answer. You are required to figure out a solution on your own. Take away the copout answer and you may find some real solutions to real problems. Not saying you should not pray if you like that sort of thing, but realize y...

Re: No Gay Cakes in Heaven
The whole notion of any group trying to legislate through the courts is appalling to me. Go vote I say and stop trying to force your will on others from the bench. I also think business should be able to serve who they want. let them suffer the consequences of their decisions. With all the real prob...

Re: Faith and the lack of literalism
Literal or not. Faith to me must provide significantly more advantages than baggage. Hence I resort to nature or the outdoors. It demands so little of me. Leave no trace respect the land so others can enjoy. And so far there is no baggage attached. I would call that a very literal faith.

I contend no one has ever come back from the dead. I mean really dead like stiff. Anything short of that could just be a hallucination

Not sure my wife gets upset over anything. I told her one day I did not believe. She said OK. She is the best.

The more religious leaders that produce witnesses and plates and the different trapping the less credible they all become in my mind. What kind of crazy god expects you to sift through all the baloney to figure out which one is correct.

Re: Bill Reel "What has to go?"
I listened to Bill. If all those things vanished the church would cease to exist as it is. It would be a wholely different organization. I doubt it would appeal to the average member. No the church will continue as is until it collapses or shrinks to a manageable level.

Can you find spirituality?
Sometimes I think it would be nice to believe in some spirituality again. Something akin to the promises of Mormonism without all the baggage. But I am afraid the church ruined that for me. I have become to much a skeptic. As it is I get my religion from nature. It works for me but is Lonely at time...

Re: What would convince you of the Quoran?
Alah would have to show up and do something constructive like eliminate world hunger. Then I would at least do what he asked. Short of that he could just be an alien posing as a god

Some would say that using drugs to commune with god is the best way to go about it. Being coherent seems to produce few results.

God hood was the one compelling doctrine When I was young. What possibly interests young people anymore? Maybe the promise of eternal sex keeps them in line.

Re: What is the key to happiness?
For me it helped to completely stop trying to figure out what God wants me to do. He knows where I am and can come tell me anytime. I would listen. But never to someone else telling me what God wants. It lets me focus on things I enjoy more.

Re: NDE and a high correlation with psychic abilities
I don't discount anything but I am sketical of everything. In this case even if someone is physic so what. No person claiming extra powers ever really did anything. Maybe once in awhile someone claims to solve a crime or something but again so what. It seems if there are extra powers available to so...
