Re: Question about LDS Church

I think the leaders would say they do, but give the resources at their disposal their actions do not indicate such

Re: What would you expect if the church was true?

I would say the church is true if it made me happy. If I enjoyed going. If my family benifited from it.

To me a church should be a sanctuary from the world. But to me it is more stress, more guilt and more aggravation.

Re: No More Pageants

Ah, but do the youth find the pagents fun and a way to make friends? If so, Kill it, we don’t do “fun” anymore. It is a waste of time to do anything because it is fun. People like Top church leaders focused only on worldly success and church approval. They are not the kind of people who need fun, r...

Re: Melonakos Interview with John Dehlin

I thought the material was fascinating. But, I thought it was a hard interview to follow. I feel like I know a fair amount about early Mormon history and was lost during parts. Melonakos seems brilliant but very scatterbrained and kept trying to blurt out facts or left thoughts hanging in mid-air. ...

Re: New Missionary Program?

On my mission I would say 50% should have not been there including me. It was a crappy two years in the prime of my life I will never get back. I don’t think much has changed. Half the missionaries hate the job. I think it is just becoming more acceptable to come home. In my day it just was not an o...

My theory on Sam Young

It is my conspiracy theory that Sam was exed because all those leaders were guilty themselves of what Sam was trying to stop. That is grilling kids and women on their sexual practices. It probably hit a little to close to home him pointing out the problem.

I am having a hard time getting worked up about this it seems so trivial. But the church is good at making trivial things important

The early church had apostles. We have apostles. That is as far as most members need to go to draw parallels.

Re: Bill Reel and General Conference Rumors

A thought comes to me. It is striking how members have zero say in the church they sacrifice so much for. I would think many if not most members would welcome all these changes, yet they can do nothing but wait for 15 old guys to do micro changes at a snails pace

Girls on missions at 18 maybe One year waiting period highly unlikely Two hour block perhaps. Only because the faith of bored members may make it happen Take off you garments. Not a chance in hell. Re: More millennial Mormons are choosing a middle way

I am not sure I buy this. Maybe wishful thinking. Mormonism functions on obeying the rules. There have always been less than active Mormons. We use to call them Jack Mormons. Perhaps there are more today than in the past, but I don’t think millennials are all that different when it comes to belief.

Re: 20% of missionaries coming home early

Best to do your part and tell young persons in the church to not go unless they really want to, nothing wrong with skipping a mission altogether. I wish I would have been told something like that from a reliable adult. I told my son some years ago he did not have to go on a mission. But if he chose ...

Idiot thinking gets more of a voice than it actually represents In the general population. Mostly because of the internet. I wonder how the President of the church ranks for wealthiest person in the world. The church being a corporation sole and all, I believe this let’s him legally control all the assets of the church, in theory at least.
