Re: Dreams equal visions?

Dreams would be a stupid way for God to communicate. Why not just talk to you when you are awake in an unmistakable voice. Let you ask a few questions and give you some clear instructions. Why all the mystic interpretation is required makes no sense. Dreams are just that. Your mind wandering when yo...

Re: Saved as we fake it !

Better to live authentic. Belief in Jesus or not I would rather face god having lived an authentic life doing good deeds as much as possible than defend myself by being a good faker. It may not be something you can do immediately but something that needs to be your end game. Sent from my iPhone usin...

Re: Ministering, YM, EQ, and the Bishopric

You can reorganize the chairs on the Titanic but so what. Constantly changing programs that rely on volunteers is a no win for everyone. The few that will do it soon become overwhelmed. The world has changed. You can no longer expect unqualified people to deal with real world problems for free. The ...

Its an inept god that allows some dude to run around causing so much havoc. You could get the whole good and evil gig done with alot less pain.

Re: Henry Erying's Big Faith

If what you claim is true it will stand up to intellectual criticism just fine. The notion that you can not question is the first clue there is a lie in the works. I think to many leaders and members believe that criticism is a sign the church is true. There is no need to weigh the evidence and make...

Re: Universal Resurrection confusion

I have often thought this same thing. None of us are composed of unique matter. We are all recycled atoms. Any living thing that grows has to obtain matter from someplace. When shed cells everyday that need to be replaced. Quit literally we completely replace ourselves throughout our life. The only ...

One hour church

Sounds like a rumor with no reality to me. Impossible to do a sacrament meeting in 25 min. Just announcements and the sacrament. Even I think that is lame and why would i go to church. Somewhere along the line they need to think of policies and programs that will inspire. Sent from my iPhone using T...

Re: Burial in temple clothes

I always think of funerals I have been to where they are laying there in their temple clothes knowing they had not been to the temple in many years or church for that matter. I think it is somehow comforting to those left behind to have hope they will make it after all. Funerals are for the living a...

A New Model for the Future?

I was trying to think of a model the church cold employ for the future that wold keep it alive beyond just a money machine. The old model to me seems to be suffering fatigue. Guilt, absolute authority, pay to play, temple construction. These are all items the church employed during my lifetime and b...

Re: Oaks and Reasons for God's Commandments

I think it's more likely that President Oaks is bullshitting (i.e. speaking without reference to the truth) than deceiving. I think he really wants it to be true that God rarely gives reasons. It would help absolve older administrations, and also justify the way recent administrations either don't ...

Re: CFM - If I could ask them one question this week . . .

I do alot of backpacking. A 35 lb pack is about right. A 50 lb pack will wear you down over miles. So if the plates weighed 60 lbs as reported how did Moroni carry them some 3000 miles? Add in 10 lbs for food, 25 lbs for the sword of Laban, and another 20 for misc items like something to keep warm. ...

Paying tithing breaks the cycle of poverty? I would like to see some imperial evidence to that fact. I know some poor tithe payers.

Re: Mormonism's Money is in the hotseat

Been thinking about this. It reAlly should bother me the church sitting on all this money. But part of me is rather impressed they are able to save this kind of money and not blow it. It is one impressive rainy day fund. I would think the leaders believe they are being good stewards. Parable of the ...

Re: The Reason Miracles are Dead in the LDS Church

It would be a wonderful world if true miracles actually happened. The promises are there. The rhetoric from church people is constant yet no real miracles. The real test is to put it on god. Major religions need to tell god to pony up or the gig is over. No more blind obedience or faith. You want de...

Are You Spiritual

I went to our ward Christmas party last week. They showed the new Christ Child video. The bishop did his best to elicit emotion, but i felt nothing. In years past I could summon what I thought was the spirit in these situations. Now it all seems contrived. I sort of wanted to feel something, but cou...
