Re: New RFM Podcast on Church History Interview

I’m through the first one so far, great listen. I had to make a quick comment on something that Bill said: Basically once a person allows for logic and critical thought, they no longer have “questions”, rather they have non-faith promoting conclusions. The talks from church leaders and videos like t...

Re: Elder Cook to Take on Church History Questions!

This is what I'd like to post: 1) In the Gospel Principal manual regarding honesty we read: “There are many other forms of lying. When we speak untruths, we are guilty of lying. We can also intentionally deceive others by a gesture or a look, by silence, or by telling only part of the truth. Wheneve...

Great list!

I was thinking that just the fact that it is taboo to talk about anything on the list, should be on the list. Also, gaslighting.

If she had any thoughts, this expression would hide her true ones.- JMO . -- Wndr. Agreed. It’s muscle memory at this point. She’s been taught her entire life that men are in charge and she has made a covenant to obey them. She won’t/can’t question their authority because the idea has been systemat...

Re: Mormonism's Market Value

This anecdote is what gives me confidence in the assumption that the church is very sophisticated in their wealth management which would include them generally following tried and proven financial guidance of long-term wealth creation. I am familiar with a person who at one time worked for the chur...

Re: Russell M Nelson: commander of an invisible realm

Are all of the dead prophets on emeritus status on the other side? Shouldn’t that side of the veil be their gig? Why does RMN need to issue a call to the other side as well? Seems like he should be focused with the living sheep. I wonder if all the prophets on the other side are given a modest celes...

Re: Apologists in a Feeding Frenzy

When I went to bed last night, there were 194 comments on the thread. When I woke up this morning, there were 55. Stephen Smoot went back and deleted an entire long sub-thread in which he showed himself to disadvantage. Fortunately, somebody saved the entire exchange. Where can we find this archive...

Re: Polygamy in heaven

Does anyone know where I can find something that states polygamy will be practiced in the Celestial kingdom ? Im not sure if I have ever seen that written anywhere but I sure would like to see it if it in fact exists. Thanks Reread RMN’s talk from last Conference. He states that he was sealed to hi...

Manuel over at pesquisas mormonas has done a lot of translation work porting documents and recent events to Spanish. I’ve listened to about every one of his podcasts and they are great. http://pesquisasmormonas.podbean.com/ http://sainesburyproject.com/pmblog I highly recommend his site. Un buen tra...

Re: Church apologizes for Racism!

Here’s what I don’t get. Why doesn’t the president of the NAACP call out Russ directly and say something like “Your second prophet said that the African race was inferior” (and then cite one of BYs horrific quotes). “How do you respond to BYs comments today? Do you believe he was speaking for God?” ...

Re: Incredible Message for Native Americans!

This kind of overt dishonesty pushes me away faster than anything. Yep. And it’s like the church is giving me the middle finger at the same time saying, ”We have your wife, your kids, your extended family, your friends and your money, and you can’t do $hit about it because we won’t let them think f...

Honestly I wouldn’t have watched this if I hadn’t seen your recommendation and review, but I watched the first two episodes yesterday and I liked them. I was an 80’s teenager and I loved all the flash backs, the red firebird, and the rock n roll. 😀

Thanks for the tip!

God, Angels, Weapons, and Prophets

This post on the “Why I love the essays” thread made me think about a question I’m not sure I’ve seen answered before: Am I missing anything? Does this accurately rank "angel with a drawn sword" within the hierarchy of LDS restoration? As others have mentioned... If the angel has to show up with a w...

Re: Ex-Mormonism is just as crazy as Mormonism!

Probably, but I think exmormonism has a shelf life. Those who CAN detach eventually do. (Think Star Stuff, Bugoy1, GD Teacher, and all the others). They’ve all moved on while their TBM counterparts continue to perpetually cray. I’m on NOM mostly to keep my sanity because I live with TBMs all around ...

Re: In which crazies gonna craze

Tonight I’m really sad. For 11 years I’ve hoped that there would be any glimmer of understanding from TBM DW about my not so subtle change in beliefs. Sometimes, albeit very very infrequently, she has given me the slightest of hints that her orthodox rigidity would flex a tiny bit to allow me some a...
