Re: Worship the church rather than Christ

In the weeks leading up to general conference and during the weeks following, talks and lessons are dominated by focus on the prophet and church leaders. Even during non-conference times the talks and lessons heavily focus on the church and leaders, but it gets especially bad surrounding conference....

Re: Elder Bednar's Latest B.S. Blowhardery

Bednar also pointed out that religious institutions can be a powerful and influential ally in the battle against the pandemic. Misinformation is a major obstacle in a health crisis,” he said. “Faith communities can debunk rumors, calm fears and facilitate accurate information. All things whitewashe...

Re: Rasband's Face-to-Face

I watched the first two or three questions then tuned out once it became clear that it was just going to be more of the same. After seeing the video clip my DW turned to me and said, "That was a really powerful video." How could she miss the fact that they didn't even attempt to address the ...

The tease that Nelson gave during the October '19 conference for the April '20 conference didn't do it for you? ;)

Re: Is anyone talking about the new proclamation?

When a heart surgeon starts talking about etching fleshy tables on your heart, do you: A. Put "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" on the DVD to look for clues. B. Fast and pray that you simply misheard or misread it. C. Ask your primary physician for a second opinion. D. Realize this is some clue to b...

Re: Is anyone talking about the new proclamation?

The Corona virus really rained on Nelson's parade... Yeah, I think the pandemic got in the way but it's hard to tell. I suppose you could say this about the family proclamation but this one had a distinct, "No duh, we've talked about this stuff each and every Sunday for as long as I can remember," ...

Re: Baptismal confirmation and priesthood

Matthew 3:11 comes to mind: I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: John the Baptist had authority to baptize but acknowledged that someone mightier ...

Re: Robert Millett lied to me, “Sacred, Not Secret” and Secret Teachings

I asked Robert Millet why Joseph Smith prayed to Jehovah (aka Jesus) in the dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland temple, in D & C 109: 42. You covered Joseph's evolving beliefs on the trinity. I wanted to add another point for consideration. At the time of the Kirtland temple dedication, Joseph likely...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I wonder what effect social distancing and mask wearing measures have on the spread of the flu and other illnesses, especially when said measures are already in place before the typical flu season even gets off the ground.

Re: Temple changes

I have heard rumor from a bishopric acquaintance that in the new version only the witness couple receive the tokens. I wonder if anything changes at the veil. That makes me wonder whether this round of changes is intended to be temporary. Like they'd roll the changes back after things settle. I see...

Re: Weird discrepency

Maybe one of the departments in charge of vetting all communications saw one of the references, said, "That's not a good look," and forgot to update the text in both places it appeared.

I wonder which one they felt wan't a good look.

Re: Cutting ties

Seriously, just write a letter and mail it to the church records department. No need to notarize if you’re not using that one website. My parsing of the general handbook section 32.14.9 is that if you go directly through your bishop it can be a simple signed letter. If you go directly to church HQ ...
