Re: NOMference Spring 2026, Sunday afternoon

Thanks for keeping up with this MoPag. I would have participated more but at the time this site was taking several minutes just to load the page and would often time out. Any time I wanted to post it was weighing whether or not to wait on the site to load the reply page and crossing my fingers that ...

Re: NOM website incredibly slow

I think that must be what they're after. Training AI. It's not the worst thing, it just stinks when one of the bots goes out of control and renders the site unusable.

The bots seem to have moved on, the site is snappy at the moment. Hopefully the storm has passed.

NOM website incredibly slow

Is it just me or does the NOM site load incredibly slow? Like 30 seconds to load a page slow. I'm guessing it's slow because there are lots of bots scraping the site to the point where it's like the site is under a DDOS attack. I was hoping the bots crawling the site would eventually get everything ...

Re: NOMference Spring 2026, Sunday afternoon

Oof, not a fan of the story of the mixed faith or mixed commitment level families. Especially the bit about the stake president guilting the dude about his wife going to the temple.

Mormons make the middle way soooooooo unnecessarily hard.

Re: NOMference Spring, 2026!! & Sunday morning session

Oaks' talk stirred up conflicting emotions for me. On one hand, I feel like parts of his message should be repeated every single Sunday in church. On the other hand, parts of his talk felt hypocritical at worst or revealed an incredibly huge blind spot for the church at best. Dealing with such a ...

Unsurprisingly conference is lacking relevancy... again, so I'm attempting to inject some.

I find asking, "Oh, is that why you continue to support Trump?" at then end of all their sentences.

Pay your tithing even when your business is losing money.

-200 billion

Edit: I feel like Jesus owes the business owner money in that scenario.

Feels like the theme of the talk is, "Can I get a calling promotion?"

He's quoting Oaks quoting Jesus. Just. Quote. Jesus.

Re: NOMference Spring 2026 Sat morning!!!

What of the people that feel the church doesn't measure up? Yeah, church is gonna be great in the upcoming months for people that love being quilted into participating in the ministering program. When your ministers call sometime in the next few weeks, know it's because they love you, not because ...

Re: NOMference Spring 2026 Sat morning!!!

Three people sustain Oaks.
Now twelve.
Now 70.
Now the fellas in the house.
Now the women.
Kid dudes.
Kid chicks.
Now everyone.

Uh, "everyone" covers all the preceding categories. What a waste of time. But why settle for one ego stroke when you can get a dozen?

No opposed votes? Cowards.

Many Bible scholars say that much of the Bible is (totally fictional) stories meant to unite different people into one nation with one national identity. It's 30 minutes and only tangentially related but worth a watch: Origin of the 12 Tribes of Israel from an Academic Point of View https://www ...

Looks like I forgot how to spell. I fixed the thread title for you... I think. There's the old saying, "Ignorance is bliss." It seems to fit your quote. I think there's some duality to it though. Wisdom brings sadness in some areas but delivers happiness in other areas. A faith transition ...

Re: New Apostle called - Clark Gilbert

There are any number of things that people place their value in. None of them are necessarily right or wrong or one better than the other. In church I see a lot of people that put value in trust, strength, toughness, loyalty, discipline, and leadership. Nothing wrong with that list but the challenge ...

In your defense, all the new guys are cut from the same mold, they're essentially the same person with a different name. Maybe with the exception of Kearon. That said, I had to google Kearon's name just now. :P My point is that they're all lawyers or rich dudes that are both products of and slaves ...

So what you're saying is that if the cards fall "right" we could be looking at a Bednar presidency that lasts two decades or more.

Re: Shorter Conference

For now. Maybe under Oaks we won't see a repeat of before where it was an on-again, off-again, one thing one week, another thing the next Saturday evening conference session. I do feel like conference lasted far too long so eliminating one session kinda helps. Reflecting back on my conference ...

NOM constantly times out (never loads) for me when I use the https address. If I use the http address it's fine, so something is still amiss.
