Re: The church blows my mind again

The presiding bishopric's response to the whistleblower complaint and the complaint itself led me to believe that the church's rainy day fund was just that, the church's rainy day fund. It’s about building a reserve of the Church, and ultimately, all of those funds will be used for Church purposes....

Re: The church blows my mind again

So much for the fund being a rainy day fund to help the people in time of need - or maybe I just imagined that some spokesman said that was the reason for the billions (after the initial reason of was "saving it for Jesus' return"). Or maybe they just said rainy day and let me think they meant "for ...

Re: General Conference Numbers Continue To Shrink

I feel very certain there's a celestial message being directed to church leadership especially when one considers the symbolism of Moroni's cast down trumpet. But will leadership recognize the message? I have my doubts. :| I think there very well could be. They won't recognize it. Too much seems to...

What are you doing to prepare for GC?
Pres. Nelson prophesied last October that the April conference would be unlike any we have seen...I think he was right.
Nothing.

I think he was right, too, but not in the way he had anticipated.

Re: Earthquake in SLC

I'm sure church members will read some kind of prophetic portent into this. If anything, it seems like God is saying "Don't listen to these people, they don't speak for me!" ETA: alternative TBM interpretation: "I've warned you people and I've warned you people and I'm done warning you people!" I'm...

Re: Cancelling Church is PROOF that CFM was inspired

Sacrament at home is easy. Just have a priest in the ward record both prayers and assign to a recorded phone message. Have a MAN in the house prepare the bread and water. Call the number and play the recorded sacrament prayers. It’s the SAME format as in sacrament. If you don’t have a MAN in the ho...

Re: Cancelling Church is PROOF that CFM was inspired

Our bishop sent out a very nice letter. It starts by praising Pres. Nelson's revelation about the home-study program, but overall it shows concern for ward members who may need extra assistance. The problem they are really struggling with is how to distribute the sacrament to everyone in the ward. ...

Re: COVID-19 and General Conference

If I were a TBM watching this, I would at least want a laugh track of some sort. More likely a cough track like they did for Poleman. I was also thinking that they'd do a cough track like they did for Poelman. Even though everyone knows there's no audience, so there'd be no need to deceive (like th...

Hallelujah! That's it, miracles do happen. I'm callin' the missionaries to get re-babtized.
  You forget that the one asking for the miracle isn't exactly on the side of "let's get baptized." More on the side of "I want it to go away."

Re: COVID-19 and General Conference

I was REALLY hoping that COVID-19 might temporarily put a stop to local meetings and get me out of this mess, First thought, that is pretty much the entire planet worth of members minus Central/South America right? Second thought, please, PLEASE cancel all ward meetings!! I think you got your wish....

There are now 3 confirmed cases in Utah and it has been declared a "state of emergency." Three people confirmed and now we're all gonna die.  Two of them were probably that couple who tested positive on a cruise, but never got sick. They were still quarantined until the blood tests came...

Re: Korea missionaries coming home.

If they get tested in the mission field, that would go against the Churches insurance. Whereas if they come home to get tested, then it would go against the parent's medical insurance to cover the testing. From what I have ready, testing for Coronacvirus isn't cheap and a lot of insurance providers...

Re: The church would collapse faster if...

So, in a nutshell, it is our minds that imprison us and keep us members (okay, not me; I'm out, but I don't have pressure from family, friends, or work). Maybe we think we can change something. Maybe we're getting pressure. Maybe a loved one would have a heart attack and die (I am totally not being ...

Re: Korea missionaries coming home.

I just heard from a mother of a missionary in South Korea that her son is coming home tomorrow. All of the missionaries are being sent home. He is supposed to self quarantine at home for 14 days after he arrives. They don’t know if he will be reassigned to another mission or if his mission is over....

Re: What kind of jerk makes everyone in the room wait for him to stand? Elder Bednar, apparently.

Sometimes (not often, because I'm leaving the Church behind more and more) it's fun to daydream being in a meeting where Bednar is up on the stand. I'm sitting in the last row of comfy benches (you know, the one with the aisle right in front of it), in the center. As soon as the meeting ends, I get ...
