Re: Being released
When I quit my last calling " duty to god in the young men's", I emailed the date of my last day to the Bishop. That way they knew no one would be there he next week. I noticed the young men's president filled in for about 3 months before they found someone else. They probable had several "no thank ...

Tell him you just dont believe Joseph found a rock with words appearing out if it. You just can't get your head around how that works.

Re: Bishopric counselor wants to meet with me...I'm scared
If it's a councilor, relax. They only give callings, so just say no to whatever he calls you to, unless it's easier than what you have. In my ward 50%+ of the callings get turned down. I'm a clerk, so I hear the talk. It's no big deal. All you have to say is that won't work for you right now, period.

Re: Where is the safe place at church?
Safe space at church is like getting into the bear cage at the zoo. Some day maybe we will feel comfortable talking about the issues without being judged or labeled.

Yes, great addition. Mormon think was my go to for getting both sides, but I look forward to combing through this one.

I love the way you described the humming birds and quail in your yard. It sounded like your dad would have loved to watch them hatch and grow. I'm sure he loved you no matter what you believed about the church.

"My DH says our ward here at Bear Lake is the same."
My wife and I have a second home at Bear Lake and usually go sit in an overflow room where they have a tv with the cc tv on it. We wear shorts and t-shirts and have always felt like the locals are glad we are there.

I've been there. Open up, tell her you are hurting, tell her going to the temple makes you feel sad and uneasy. Tell her you feel like you can't express the way you feel because you are afraid of her reaction and don't want to hurt her.

Re: Some Pain I've Experienced, But, Things are Better Now
I used to go through extremely painful experiences by myself, not wanting to open up to my wife, not wanting to show my pain, or to be vulnerable. It was miserable, and hard, and I'm not sure I learned what I needed to from it. Then something happened where I went through one with my wife. It was st...

Re: Did anyone here get a divorce over all of this?
My neighbor did. She had full support from the ward. I divorced my husband over abuse. He was supposedly faithful. I got major pushback. My thoughts on marriage are simply that it isn't for everyone. For various reasons, I just believe that some people shouldn't marry. I'm one of them. I think chil...

I'm still semi acrive, but have found the joy of alcohol. My wife and I drink to relax on weekends. It has been a bonding activity.

Re: What was your first crack
I was preparing a lesson on JS and the first vision. The lesson manual didn't seem like I could do 30 min on the information provided so I googled first vision and I found out that there were over 4 versions. I was blown away. In the 46 years I had been a member I had never heard or read this. The f...

Paid clergy
I don't like talking on in church. I get anxiety, my bowels go crazy, I end up doing a ton of research, planning and writing a few weekends before, practicing over and over, timing it a few times, etc. Then I have two or three paragraphs or stories available just in case I need to fill the time. Of ...

Re: Happy Mother's Day
Our wards Mother's Day talk was a tribute to the speakers mom. She was a super mom, her husband died and left 5 kids, and worked full time raised her kids alone and her greatest achievement was that all of her kids were married in the temple. I'm sure the guys mom was a terrific lady, but there was ...
