How to get rid of 2 tons of wheat? In a way that benefits me? My chickens eat a little.... Any other "micro" farms, or similar near you that could take some? Other folks with "farm" animals that could consume said grain? We have a "rescue" farm near us that takes donations similar to this. (I'm not...

Article states that this was an older building that did not have carbon monoxide detectors. What are the fire codes like in Utah? In my area, any public building or open to the public, regardless of age that use a burnt fuel source in any manner (heating, cooking, etc) inside the building are requir...

Re: Key Indicators?

We used to have 2 wards and a branch in my area. Overtime that all got consolidated down to one ward. About 70-100 active any given week. Now we have members of the former branch demanding that the state re-open the branch. 3 families have gone so far as to stop attending the ward and are meeting on...

Re: TBM's and LGT

My impression is that most TBMs think the BOM took place somewhere in the region of Central America and norther South America. The "narrow neck of land" being Panama. Of course, there are plenty of problems with that, but they don't want to see that. Maybe a simply "Where do you think the Land of Ne...

Re: Brief Entertainment of Mormon Nostalgia

I can't say anything about Babtists. I haven't been to one of them. Their flavor of Christianity just is not something that interests me. 1. Maybe try Episcopalian? They tend to be pretty easy going and light on the sin stuff. More about self improvement. However, like Mormonism, it can vary quite a...

Re: Brief Entertainment of Mormon Nostalgia

If you are interested in church, why not tryout some other churches? You don't have to go for truth, just go for the experience. Consider it culture, like visiting an art museum or going to a play. Living in West Virginia, I always stuck me as funny the ideas Utah people get about church out in the ...

The idea that water erosion occurred on the Sphinx has been around since the 50's. The problem that there is no other other evidence to cooperate it. The generally accepted theory is that humidity in the air reacts with salt within the limestone and causes it to flak off in a patter similar to water...

Re: Henry Erying's Big Faith

I would offer the counter in that we can know the truthfulness of the church exactly because of human behavior. Or more specifically, how it manages human behavior. We know humans. We know they are problematic. To paraphrase the D&C, They will seek after power and to set themselves up above one anot...

They could have the girls work to prep everything. Good training for them. Teach them to know their place is in the kitchen getting everything ready for the men to do the big, important stuff.

Re: RFM & Terryl Givens - interesting insights

One thing I was unable to follow in that episode is who was the target of Mr. Givens subversiveness? Is he working to undermine the church, or is he working to undermine nay-sayers? RFM seamed to go back and forth on that.

Sorry, but I'm not following you. I haven't seen Chernobyl, so I don't get the reference. I have seen Zoolander, but your description doesn't really fit with the movie, so I'm not following your reasoning. Can you provide some real life examples of what you consider an anti-miracle? You say that it ...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint

It is interesting to watch how the church's story changes in real time. [*]The church used to proudly proclaim that they had no paid clergy. Proof comes out that upper leadership is in fact paid. Instead of acknowledging it, they simply stop making the claim. [*]A church of healing has become "Have ...

How do you define an "anti-miracle"? Next, how do you tell the difference between an anti-miracle caused by the devil (in whatever form you want to use), some human being being being a jerk, or random coincidence?

He also pointed out that the office where these investigations are made is in Ogden, Utah and is 90% staffed by Mormons. I question whether that statistic is accurate, but it's easy to imagine how foot dragging could extend the process even longer. I'm sure they have a lawyer of some sort advising ...

Re: Polygamy kids restrictions lifted

If they were trying to draw attention away from the IRS whistle blower, they failed miserably. Baptizing kids of polygamist families only really seams to be an issue in Utah and the Moridor. Out on the east coast it's a non issues and no one cares. None of the major news organizations are following ...
