Re: I hate to even have to ask this question

It’s actually good to see that some billion dollar corporations don’t have a problem doing the right thing. According to a probable cause statement, it was a tip from Microsoft, which owns the video-chat app Skype, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that put investigators on ...

MST3K on any church video!

The question is do you have a serious take where you point out all the historical/doctrinal/moral issues, or just go for humor? or somewhere in between?

Re: Richard Dutcher's Films Are on Amazon's Prime Video

I have not seen State of Grace. I remember thinking that God's Army was a must see for any pre-mission kid. If nothing else than because it was way more realistic about mission life any all of the church produced films on missions. It showed that missions can suck and can be very f---ed up. It has b...

Paid Consulting Phone Calls

I have been getting message on LinkedIn lately from people saying they want me to participate in consulting phone calls. They offer to pay for my time. Anyone know anything about these? Are they legit or are they a scam?

Re: Vaporware Temples

Especially with the temples in the Mormon heavy area, I wonder how much of the decision to put them in is less about meeting member needs, but more about either a cushy construction gig for a certain company with backhanded ties to LDSInc. or as 'gift' to certain members in the area who then get int...

Re: If you aren't doing conference, what are you doing?

Saturday was with DS helping at a local half marathon with the Amatuer Radio club. Good day to be out. The race was thankfully uneventful.

Sunday was making breakfast for the fam: eggs Benedict and the afternoon at the barn helping DW get ready for a show.

Re: Vaporware Temples

Didn't see this on here. Saturday night, during the women's session, they announced a new temple to be built in Orem Utah. This was very braking news. So new that the City of Orem put out a statement that they had no idea that one was in the works and not been contacted about it yet, so they had no...

Re: Vaporware Temples

Do the temples get charged property taxes based on building valuations? Seems the City of Orem would benefit greatly. Depends on where it is. In the US, no. They are deemed churches and are tax exempt. However, England and Europe requires churches to be open to the public, therefore temples are con...

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I am printing that, Just This Guy. That looks delicious, and I want to make it! 4 cups apple cider 1/3 cup apple brandy 1/8 tsp cinnimon Dash Alspice Dash Nutmed Dash ground cloves 2 tablespoons spoons caramel (I got a maple caramel which is really good) Mix all ingredients except caramel in a smal...

Re: New TR question

I believe the instructions to leadership is that they are instructed to ask the question, word-for-word and take the answer and move on. They are not supposed to ask followup questions.

Question 16: Do you have an anonymous Reddit account where you badmouth church leaders?

Nope, no Redit account. Just an anonymous NOM account, and a public Facebook account where I do my badmouthing.

Re: Oaks and the Utah Supreme Court

I do not follow Utah politics, but I will offer a few observations. A position like a judge tends to temper their personal views to a good degree. With law, everything you do has to be based on established laws and case histories. Plus you have various levels of over sight and other checks and balan...

Probably not. They tried it in the late 30's. It didn't go well, at least for anyone with their eyes open.

Re: Resignation ≠ Real Name Removal = Illegal?

It's not in the White House. Mitt keeps a copy on his personal e-mail server. I do wonder if how the church complies with European personal info laws. My understanding is that if a EU citizen tells a entity to remove all their personal information from their computer systems, they are required to do...

Re: Resignation ≠ Real Name Removal = Illegal?

Laws about data retention vary around the world. I'm told that European laws are much stricter than in the US. In Europe, if you request to have your info removed, failure to do so carried hefty fines. Only applies to European citizens though. The US doesn't have the same protection. In fact US law ...

Spiked caramel apple cider.

Fresh apple cider, apple brandy, maple caramel, cloves, allspice, nutmeg.

Prefect drink for a fall day.
