Re: 2018 statistics relewsed

One more thing. Kish also says that real church growth is around .45%, or 72,000/ year that stay active after one year, but 60,000 leave. So the actual net growth is about 12,000 member for the year, or 0.074%!

Yikes!

Re: 2018 statistics relewsed

So 140,868 is members who were taken off the rolls in 2018. Interesting if you factor in data from other sources. Quitmormon.org processed 15,629 resignations last year and had 12,486 people who were actually removed from member rolls. So about 0.1% of members requested/resigned during 2018. If you ...

Re: QuitMormon is back online!

Considering the backlog of registrations is piling up, up to 4,562 as of me writing this, sounds like TSCC, sounds like some doesn't want to put any more labor into handling these than they have to. They are still not keeping up with incoming resignations.

Re: Is There A Connection Between The Policy Reversal & New Legislation Passed In Utah?

I never buyed that it was declining numbers that drove the church to remove the policy. If that was the case there are many thing I could see them doing before they removed the PoX. The church simply is not that Christian. There is always another motive behind it. The threat of being labeled as a Ha...

Re: How good is Christianity at making Christ-like people anyway?

I would say that if you look at it's history, Christianity does a very poor job of teaching people to lead Christlike lives. Here is a quick list of things that were done under the name of Christ. Crusades (1-5 Million dead) Spanish Inquisition (2000 dead) 30 Years War (5-10 Million dead) King Henry...

Re: Honor Code Stories

Hey, just use the fact that for most majors, you get a much better education at other Utah schools. BYU isn't ranked nearly as high as it used to be in almost all fields. For science majors, USU and the U are much better ranking schools. the U is way ahead of BYU in medicine as well. Accounting is a...

The Trib did an article on this. https://www.sltrib.com/news/2019/04/10/protest-planned-byu-idaho/ I like one of the commenter's post: The abominable and unpredictable and demeaning and unaccountable way the honor code is enforced is identical to the totally unaccountable and revolting way wider chu...

Re: My chance to speak on Easter

Maybe take it as a challenge to write an NOM talk, but still be acceptable in a TBM ward.

1. All scriptures must be from the New Testament.
2. All quotations must be from non Mormons.
3. Include at least one quote form C. S. Lewis. (just for the fun of it.)

Re: Worth sharing..Response to Nelson’s talk

Christ leaves the 99 sheep to go after the one that is lost. Mormonism says the one sheep is sh** out of luck and when another sheep points out that the first one left, Mormonism has that sheep shot for agitating the remaining.

Re: Worth sharing..Response to Nelson’s talk

It is sounding more and more to me like RMN is having a major case of bruised ego. Between his constant need to produce new "revelation" and how defensive he is getting, it sounds a lot like a manager. He's captain of a ship that is starting to sink and he knows it. Now is is confronted with how to ...

Re: Hook, line and creamer

I had a buddy that spoke Mnong, and he would translate during conference in Mnong. Anyway, he would get the conference talks a few weeks before so he could translate them into that language, and then be ready to broadcast live. I could see it being a matter of timing. They have several dozen talk t...

Re: Did not watch one second of conference. Did not miss it.

I missed 99.5% of conference and am annoyed at the 3 minutes I did watch. I had to pick up my kids from my TBM parents house and my dad was watching conference. Kinda surreal to watch a old man sitting in a recliner in a shirt and tie on a Saturday afternoon, staring at the TV, raising his hand robo...

I have no idea what counts as a service mission. I see proselyting missionaries all over my stake. I don't know whether I've seen a service missionary... unless it's the local couple they call into the family history center or they people they call to head addiction recovery. I think they get littl...

Re: Hook, line and creamer

If they do check talks, it seems to me like they do a very poor job. at a minimum, they don't run them past the PR department to see what the public would likely have a fit over. If they did, things like Ander's homophobic talk or RMN's scorched earth would be very different. We know that they do a ...

Re: Hook, line and creamer

It got me wondering if they had some changes ready to be released but with the S-storm that the POX release caused, maybe they walked back on releasing them....thoughts? I doubt it. My guess is that they submit their talks a month in advance at the very least so legal, correlation, and the translat...

Re: General NOMfrence Saturday Afternoon!!!

I caught a few minute of the Saturday afternoon session when I stopped by my parents place. They were in the middle of the leadership changes (releases, calls, sustaining, etc.) Is it just me, but I thought they used to do all of that in the Sunday morning session. When did they change it to Saturda...

Re: Explaining the Dramatic Flip-Flop

I believe it was affecting the missionary effort as well. It is pretty bad when your church is know mainly for being mean to LGBT folk. I can't see that that changing it will do anything to help the missionary effort. 1. By issuing the policy in the first place, they have driven off the LGBT commun...
