Re: Book of Abraham, Part 3 Podcast

I took it to be a oddly humorous way of showing that he is hard to figure out. I think the reason it was so jarring (other than it was a EAS test) is that we are not used to having IOT style humorous sound clips edited in to RFM or Bill Reel's podcasts in general. We are used to what is edited in be...

Re: Transitional underwear

I still wear the bottoms because I'm cheap. Taking the top off was healing for me. It went hand-in-hand with starting to drink coffee, which was also healing. That's the same case as I had. lol DW was fine. She stopped wearing her's one day and never looked back. He already had normal underwear, so...

I have always used a modification of the BSA Oath A man is: Trustworthy Loyal Helpful Friendly Courteous Kind Obedient* Cheerful Thrifty Clean Reverent *This is the one where things have changed for me. Re: Bad movie night is the best night

Not really boring, but every bit of it leave you scratching your head, From constant weird camera angles, stupid & nonsensical villains, equally dumb heroes, totally implausible setups and plot conveniences, laughably bad dialogue, and overacting by all the characters. The whole film leaves you think...

Rob4Hope, you reminded me of Rev. Moore's final sermon in Footloose. It still applies today, a quarter century later.

Re: Unexpected and Unsolicited Spiritual Experience

I had this happen to me. Back in the weeks after the birth of our 2nd child, DW and I were both suffering from the effect of sleep deprivation. During this, the song "That's What Love is For" by Amy Grant came up on my playlist one day while driving. I had a major spiritual experience listening to t...

If you are really up for a challenge, watch "Battlefield Earth" without the Riftrax commentary. That move is just about everything wrong with a movie that you can do, only without the excuse of it having a low budget. Regarding MST3K, at least in the US, Netflix only has a small handful of the origi...

Get needed support from families? More like more guilt from families. If a missionary is in the beginning phases of starting to question the mission or suffer from depression, what is going to happen to them when they call home? TBM mom and dad are going to say how proud they are of them for serving...

Re: Missionaries can call home weekly now

Agree that the old policy was likely to minimize long distance call cost. Today those calls cost very little to nothing for most missionaries and their families. The cost issue is no longer a consideration. I wonder how much is to try to curb the epidemic of mental health issues. On one of his podca...

DW and I like watching RiffTrax on Amazon Prime. Done by Mike Nelson of MST3K fame. My Favorite MST3K episode: Mutiny in Space. DW's: The Touch of Satan, and Tourist Trap from Rifftrax. If you can tolerate Chistand Movies, there are SOOO many that are bad movie gold. Kirk Cameron Saves Christmas God...

I never understood the idea of refusing to make a cake. If you really don't want to make a cake, then all you have to do is not take the order. Say whatever you want. You are unable to fulfill do to prior commitments. YOu don't think you can meet thier standards. Whatever. They are trying to give yo...

Re: As the RLDS/COG is the LDS Church May become.

I was listening to podcasts and thinking about how the the LDS Church is trying to slowly introduce new and controversial topics. They aren’t so much showing concern about openness or posterity, as they are trying to avoid a catastrophic loss in membership. They’re trying to avoid what happened to ...

Does anyone know if this guy was ever ex'd??? I can't find any info on it. Based on the fact that he was a temple worker up until his death, I would guess he was not, but that is just a guess. Note that he was "disciplined" after the first kidnapping, but that was just a dis-fellowship. Given that ...

Re: Lazy Theology and Selective Scripture Reading

This is one aspect of some churches that I like. Some of them when they do a study of, say the New Testament, they will start at the beginning and go chapter and verse until they're done. Taking questions, giving explanations. I should think that many mormons would be hungry for something like this...
