Re: Casual dress in church ????????

"The Unwritten Order of Things" BKP's talk about how to be a better pharisee. A couple years ago, I went to my Mormon ward because my son was doing a piano piece as part of the primary program. I wore khakis, colored shirt and tie and stood out like a sore thumb. When I go to the local Episcopal chu...

Re: New Year's Indoctrination

The church always has a success story about some "receptive" family that came back to church because someone cared. The thing that most people miss is that they came back because someone cared. That meaned they were friends stuck through them forthe long haul to reactiveate them, showing them they ...

Part of the gospel of lowered expectations. The really promising stuff will be left to getting a planet and wives in the Celestial Kingdom.

Then comes the disappointment when you realize that due to a translation error you get a plant on Kolob. Usually a shrub.

Re: It's been a while. What next

I am constantly seeing stuff on Facebook from people talking about how they are "So proud that [their kid] has chosen to be baptized." That really rubs DW the wrong way. These kids are not choosing anything. They are simply giving into the social pressure from their family and church community. If y...

The old idea of if you give someone a calling, it will make the come to church more often. Sounds like you are catching on to their tricks.

Take it a step further and wear full golf clothes. Showing up in a polo and plaid slacks will really make an impression. Re: BYU Police Department Decertification Countdown

Update on this. While I was looking at other stuff, I came across a couple articles. 1. Despite the sate law now being that BYU PD must comply with open records laws, they are still fighting releasing records. IN Sept the state department of records ordered the release of documents. BYU said they co...

Re: Church/BYU-Idaho stops taking student Medicaid, repeals decision after fallout

I am curious how many student actually dropped out. Then how many re-enrolled. If enough did, I could see that being a finical hit to the school. BYU-I says that the per semester tuition is ~2,100, plus another $600 for books. So lets say $2,700. So 100 students dropping out even for a semester is a...

Re: Close Friends Child Came Home Early from LDS Mission (Stateside)

I know this is a terrible situation for someone to be in. However, I can't help but to think of something like this: After a few days, this former missionary comes to and announces to everyone in the hospital that they were taken up in the spirit and wracked with guilt for spreading the work of the ...

Re: Church Renews Opposition to ERA

I wonder if it comes down to them being fearful of women coming to expect equal treatment. To take a step back, people tend to give thing like the bill of rights more credit and power than it really deserves. For example, the 1st amendment protects free speech. Simple right? you have the right say w...

This disturbing part of that quote is that this prosecutor thinks it is the job of the legislature to dictate morality.

How to Tarnish Your Brand in 5 Easy Steps

I haven't seen it posted here, but a little while ago, BYU-I announced that they will require students who use Medicare to purchase additional, supplemental medical insurance to attend the school at high cost, without any real reason why. Que outrage and media scrutiny. https://www.eastidahonews.com...

But are they really suggestions? So when a missionary spends an afternoon alone with a girl, even if nothing major happened, but it is still a violation of accepted behavior, and they want to send him home in disgrace, is "It is not a rule, only a suggestion and I felt that that was the best option ...

Re: Turning Christains into Atheists

We are already seeing the change in growth expectations in some of the talks. They used to talk about how the church would grow to fill the whole earth, not the rethoretic is that the church will be small and minor.

RFM has had a couple episodes on this.

No, I don't see them. Of course, I don't see many adds in general. I have some high level add blocking on my network. Adblock Plus on my browsers and a piHole on the Network. Does wonders to simplify my browsing. I also use Facebook Container to limit what FB can track from me. Remember, those ads a...

According to the Trib article, the Stepmom didn't have an issue with the toplessness. It is primary the prosecutors who are pushing for it. Over zealos CPS?

Re: Breasts in the news

So the couple were hanging drywall in the garage and took their clothes off to keep from getting dusty. Was it open to public or not? That wasn't addressed. If it wasn't, then that sounds like someone had to go out of their way to see them and raise a stink. If it wasn't, then since toplessness is l...
