Re: The Brigham Wheel
I've often thought the Conference Center could fit a Space Mountain sized indoor roller coaster inside along with several simulation rides. Cumora Coaster and Wings Over Moab and probably a few more.

Re: The usefulness of prophets
I suppose prophets would be a very useful thing if they actually existed. As far as I can tell, the opinion of the average Man on the Street is exactly as useful as Russel M. Nelson's. They have spent and continue to expand great efforts to lower our expectations of what prophets actually are in ou...

Re: Slowly fading away? The future of NOM?
I'm glad our admins are reasonably committed to not doing a Thayne repeat. This board still feels more like home to me than others. I don't fit the vibe of exmo Reddit, in fact I consider it a success if my comments there get equal up and down votes. Then it feels like I might actually be contributi...

Re: Feelin the feels.
In Mormonism we often get the stories of someone getting an impression that someone else, and even someone unknown to the one with the impression, is in need of assistance. I tend to accept that we may well have avenue of communication between us that or science has yet to study in depth. Where I di...

Holy The Ghost flees from cognitive dissonance. (That's the way I read in that first quote. That ghost is such a wimp.) If only I could draw, there are so many good cartoon ideas . . . https://st.depositphotos.com/1001911/1256/v/950/depositphotos_12566918-stock-illustration-scared-ghost.jpg

You should probably PM alas. She spends Summers in that area IIRC. This part of the board gets used infrequently so probably won't be seen by many.

Re: Revisiting my thoughts on an afterlife.
This is an interesting subject for me. My current thinking is, I think, an outgrowth of the same kind of thinking that brought about my disaffection with Mormonism. To do that, I had to put what I wanted aside and allow myself to attempt in my imperfect way determine what is. So, while I am sure I m...

Support Opportunity for Arizona NOMs
You may have already seen this. The guy got a ton of advice and support on Reddit. In his first edit to his post he offered to buy lunch to anyone in/near East Valley AZ, and I know we have an Arizona contingent here. Red Ryder would probably have exactly the kind of experience that could help the m...

Re: Technology- has it ruined music?
But seriously. Isn't the drum machined, auto-tuned, overproduced/over-perfected stuff that gets performed at Super Bowl halftimes and celebrated on the Grammy awards an artistic regression; and what does this mean for civilization as we know it? :( I wonder about this. I think music for the masses ...

Re: Temple attendance, temple recommend, temple, temple temple!
All of us privileged souls with the golden ticket went round the corner to a sealing room to watch the event and it made me sick to my stomach that the others weren't there. It felt so wrong, exclusionary, and not Christ-Like. Why why why did we ever think this was right? Why did I exclude my grand...

Re: Mormons are able to gaslight themselves
I am trying to decide how much of keeping a testimony of TCOJCOLDS fits the concept of gaslighting as I understand it. I think deacon's example is almost textbook. But what about all the other things members do to keep a testimony? Do they qualify as gaslighting? The more I think about it, the more ...

Re: Tales from the Heretic in HC
I said that's fine, you know your ward, but just so you know, that's not what Elder Chrisofferson was saying. He kind of raised a Spockean eyebrow at that (like most Mormons, I'm sure he didn't really read/pay attention to conference talks), and it didn't help matters that the wife of another bisho...

Re: Kosh is back
I was an active participant on the NOM message boards many years ago going by the name Kosh (back in the late 1990s when Babylon5 was first airing through around 2010?), so I have joined this new platform under the same name. I left the church as I had a major faith crisis over doctrine and history...

Wow, Stealth. I thank you for the encouragement, as I have yet to take the plant medicine sacrament but now want to more than ever. I like how you got your wife to be your sitter. Mine is more hardcore TBM but I think I will ask her to be my sitter anyway as there is no one I would rather share the ...

Re: TBMs who turn to" Real Christianity"
To the OP, the only example on NOM I can think of is Palerider who I think believes in a biblical Christianity. You could search his posts if you want an example of that. I have no idea if he is a stalwart in a local church or if he just practices his faith in his own way. Now to Fluff's threadjack....
