Re: Observation #2: Salvereeno's opinion is off Limits

Observation #2: Shut your pie hole Slavereeno, nobody want's to hear your church *stuff* The dust has settled a little with family since the disclosure of my disaffection. Its OK to voice anything among the family, so long as it is positive towards the church or faith promoting. My comments are unw...

Re: New Year's Indoctrination

Yep. And frankly, it doesn't really matter to me if anyone in the ward cares about me. Caring about me doesn't change the fact that the Church was founded by a sexual predator, that the Book of Abraham is an obvious hoax, that the Brethren clearly aren't receiving revelation from God, etc. and etc....

Re: It's been a while. What next

Just as a suggestion, you could tell them very truthfully, "Our son doesn't want to be baptized, so we're going to honor his wishes. The church believes he's old enough to reason, so he reasons that he doesn't want to go through that." After that, the TBM family members are kind of stuck for a repl...

Re: Breasts in the news

Story seems really strange. First off, who in their right mind likes drywall dust on their bare skin? Second, who filed the charges or made the complaint? If I had to guess, it was the step children's Mom who heard about it from the step kids. Interesting case.... Here's a link to an earlier articl...

It's a total train wreck & sh*tshow. Can't wait for SLC version! I'm not a regular viewer, but I will watch this one in hopes of seeing a good crash.

Re: Update after meeting with counselor

Best advice is just to hang in there, keep moving forward, and don't give up. This is a process - pour a little water and back off. Then give it time and let it freeze/thaw. Rinse & repeat. Eventually, that rock will crack. Sometimes it just takes a long f*cking time, but make no mistake, those brai...

Whatever happened to humbly seeking truth, and following where it leads?
Great question. I suppose the answer is: BECAUSE of where it leads.

Yup. Right out of the church - from a world of black and white to one filled with color.

Re: Tithing settlement

Why do you have to account to anyone for how you spend your discretionary income. Imagine for a moment if the local united way called you in at the end of the year to make sure you had given them enough money. How would you respond? Do the same thing here. That puts things in perspective. Totally. ...

What am I missing???

This was a brief exchange earlier today. I am genuinely baffled at where this went and am really curious to know your thoughts as to what (it was a pretty simple and straightforward meme) was posted by BLUE (obviously a bitter Exmo type) and the interpretation by RED (a TBM/StayLDS type). Anyw...

Re: Tithing settlement

Keep it simple. “Yes, I’m a full tithe payer. Thanks for asking.” Rinse and repeat, regardless of what is asked in terms of follow up questions. If that’s a problem, then don’t go. There’s nothing that says tithing settlement attendance is mandatory. If you don’t declare your tithe payer status, the...

Re: Question about conference

Thanks for all the comments. The answer came to me in the middle of the night, as good ideas often do. ;) I do remember the GBH interview and the “we don’t know much about this or that, we don’t teach it anymore (that might have been the becoming gods? question). But the one I was specifically thin...

Re: Elder Oaks Defines "Gender" for Us - In His Usual Bigoted Way

I have this really weird notion that stalls could be their own private unisex bathroom and then people of all genders could come out into a larger common area and wash their own hands in the presence of people who may or may not be of their same gender. I know, I'm a weirdo. Not weird at all. I’m w...

Re: If you aren't doing conference, what are you doing?

I spent the weekend at a casino with a group of women celebrating multiple milestone birthdays in the group "50". Lots of loud laughter, gambling, mimosas, axe throwing, and shots of fireball. I came away from that feeling more love than I ever did at any RS conference or event, ever. I love this s...
