Re: Bruce R. McConkie - REDACTED

Infants on Thrones did a series of podcasts about this. They have the original audio of the talk and discussed the MAJOR differences between that and the published text on the BYU website. Here is the first podcast (It is a re-release of a podcast from 2018) http://infantsonthrones.com/ep-629-seven-...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

But Both of my parents (who are in their late 70's) contracted COVID. My Mother tested positive at the hospital in early April, my father was never tested, although he developed the same symptoms as my mother. They were uncomfortable and isolated for a couple of weeks with fevers and coughs, but th...

Re: Top 100 list of silly Mormon ideas?

7. Mentally challenged or disabled kids were so special in the pre-existence, they only had to come to Earth to get a body and to test those families they were born into. 7b. Those in the spirit world even though unfaithful or not valiant, were undoubtedly permitted to take mortal bodies although u...

Re: The Bible Unearthed

It never really made sense to me that a man would have 12 sons, and then each of them would have lots of kids and grandkids and eventually become their own separate tribes. Who do they marry and who do their kids and grandkids marry? Are lots of outsiders marrying into these tribes and severing thei...

Re: Mormon Discussions Message Board Unavailable?!

Turns out the board is up but everyone is using old bookmarks that go to the wrong place. Here is a post from Dr. Shades that explains: Dear user, If you're having any problems with the functionality of this board--viewing older threads, posting replies, whatever--then do this: 1.UPDATE YOUR BOOKMAR...

Forget biased news & mob mentality. Look at the facts. Mob mentality is far more dangerous than this virus.
Which news sources do you think are biased and which ones are trustworthy? What are the best sources for facts?

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

 MANY more die each year of FLU (than this overhyped virus). CDC estimates* that, from October 1, 2019, through March 28, 2020, there have been: 39,000,000 – 55,000,000 flu illnesses 18,000,000 – 26,000,000 flu medical visits 400,000 – 730,000 flu hospitalizations 24,000 – 63,000 flu deaths h...

Isn’t it at the April GC where church membership numbers are released?
Are there any projections?
I bet the number of missionaries will be way down!

Korea missionaries coming home.

I just heard from a mother of a missionary in South Korea that her son is coming home tomorrow. All of the missionaries are being sent home. He is supposed to self quarantine at home for 14 days after he arrives. They don’t know if he will be reassigned to another mission or if his mission is over. ...

Similarly, in order to say "don't do it" John avoided posting the interview on his own site, but then provided a way to access the information anyway "for it is given unto thee."
He was only doing that which has been done on other podcasts.
What is that?

He said, "I try to help them realize it's not the end of the world and that there are good alternatives out there and that they should at the least hold on to their faith in God and Christ and the Biblical Scripture." This is not unlike a TBM saying that you should hang on to your faith in Joseph S...

Re: Knowing Joseph: Joseph Smith & Nauvoo Plural Marriage (SLC)

My (TBM) wife got tickets to this conference about Joseph Smith Polygamy and she wants me to go. I told her before that I wasn't interested, but she got some tickets and has invited a friend and wants me to join. The only thing worse than going might be having her go without me. I really don't want...

Re: Is there a better example to show that all of this is made up than the transfiguration of Brigham Young?

I recently discovered Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth on Prime video. I think I had to rent or buy it, but it was worth every penny and I will definitely rewatch. It's an old PBS interview from the 80s and at first glance looks boring and has terrible production quality. But if you haven't se...

My favorite thing to learn was that the artist John McNaughton (sp?) is a Mormon artist, and he is also apparently heading some sort of Mormon splinter group... which is just amazing.
Do you have any more information on this splinter group? I have never heard of this.

Polygamy is starting to make her shelf creak and little bit. Any resistance on your part might make her want to reinforce it. Just wait patiently. Eventually it will crack, then break. I wish this were the case but I don't think so. I first brought up Joseph Smith polygamy before the essays came ou...

What you're waiting for is an official general conference where a number of the general authorities take up the subject of polygamy IN HISTORICAL DETAIL and declare that it is the official stance and doctrine of the church. Ask her if she thinks the GAs are afraid to discuss it. Why are they lettin...
