Re: Dan Vogel and John Hamer on MS

I am loving DV as well. Nearly done now and will start JH next. These guys are both so honest about the facts and at the same time generous about the humanity of religion.

Re: Faith Crisis Contagion

Yeah, any willing explorer into the facts will soon acknowledge the reality. Sadly, many are not in a position to make real life changes. Some due to age. Others due to employment. Some due to family money, and others due to the hope of eternal family with lived ones lost too young.

Re: Transitional underwear

I do the G bottoms most days but have converted 100% to some comfy fake G tops. I love the brand with the sailboat that is 95% cotton, 5% spandex. I even told DW I would screen the Mark's in if she wants. I told her it isnt fair since I can do this and nobody will notice, but she cant really switch ...

Re: More Conversation with DW

I understand this feeling of being unable to promise that. At the same time, this can cause some serious fear for her. It is hard to draw boundaries while insisting your are 100% committed but that is what you need to do here.

I agree that counseling should be in your future.

Took DW to the temple today

We are in Bangkok and hit up a few Buddhist temples (Emerald Buddha, Reclining Buddha). I found some commonalities with LDS temples, and certainly many differences. Both require payment for admission (LDS 10% of gross or net income, audited by the BP : Biddhist payment of flat rate tithing / admissi...

Re: Thankful

You ate lucky. I think most members and leaders in the church feel similarly, but the top down structure doesnt always let it show. It sounds like there is a story behind this.

Glad you feel this in your middle way.

Re: Update on my "Slow Fade"

Sorry. This is hard on both of you. The advice here is spot on. I have often seen the refrain that if having religion in your life is required to be a moral person, you have no morals. (Or other similar refrains). If having a common religion (and its goals, morals, community) is the only thing keepi...

Re: I have an idea for NOM!

I love it. I like the idea of book club. We could chat about a topic supported by books, TED Talks, podcasts, personal experience, Philosophies of mankind mi gled with humor (shout out to IOT), and maybe even do a google hangout or conference call once a month. RR, I love it. The mormon stuff often ...

Line upon line, precept upon precept. Othe religions and people have parts of.the truth, but only the COJCOLDS has the fullness of the gospel.

Re: The Covenant Hand?

I heard if you use your left hand it almost feels like it's someone else . . . Oh wait. I guess I thought you were talking about something else. Yeah, I always heard the right hand was the covenant hand. I was a pretty judgmental YM seeing all those careless member flippantly using their sinister ha...

Great post. I think you are probably right. Sadly, Oaks and others have the power and mind co trolls over the masses.

May your experience with the sheep continue to be amicable.

Whack-a-mole hack job

Anyone know a good hacker. I would pay good money to see the FAIR website theme changed to a whack-a-mole and an animation of a sledge hammer smacking each mole topic in the nav bar. It seriously is hilarious how comical that whole setup with Renlund was. Consiglieri and BR killed it with their anal...

Re: askreality - Deconstructing Jehova's Witnesses Control

I am 6 years in to the slow fade. It is painfully slow. DW if coming along behind me now, but we both feel so trapped in the TBM MorCor community and families that we come from. I like to tell myself that I am the apathetic agnostic that RR describes, yet I still cannot put Mormonism down. I still f...

3. Much of the repetitive "return and report" was eliminated. So glad to see this go. It was so tedious. Again the goal was probably to shorten it. Yeah, yeah... But the real question is: Do they still get to Go Down ? (Sorry... I kept the 13-year-old school-boy comment to myself for ~6 h...

Re: New Year's Resolutions and Prophecies

I was thinking of going to one hour less of church on Sunday. But since that's an amazingly silly goal, I will probably try and get to a better understanding with my wife over how our relationship should actually work and provide better fulfillment in spite of our obvious differences in belief. Nic...
