Re: Mormon Stories about the Abusive Bishop.

Just listened today. They lost some TBM's in this debacle. The church truly showed their colors here. It is sad that they protect themselves over the least of these our little ones.

Re: Rescuing the Restoration Conference

Hi Villager! So far I haven't seen much pushback on swearing as long as you drop an occasional ! * or # in place of vowels. I really hate F-bombs...... I know we're better than that. ;) Fetch! Villager… how did your dad get involved in those crowds? Is he genuinely displeased at the church leadersh...

Re: Rescuing the Restoration Conference

Cuckoo! I will have to see if my dad is going. He is right in this crowd. PAP and AVOW and Snuffer. All of that stuff.

It had been too long since I posted here. Are we allowed to swear?

Re: Current Biggest Church Problem

My family is more likely to leave to the right due to the list so aptly compiled above. I just don't relate to them at all. Such a crazy divide!

Wow, you guys just keep going!

I have not been on here for a long time. It is impressive how this site keeps plugging along. You are all brothers (& sisters) from another mother (in heaven). I miss your sass, observation, and grace. With the fast paced action of Reddit, FaceBook, and now TikTok, it is fun to see so many familiar ...

Re: Forced Turning Point

Bishop G. Congrats and condolences. I couldn't do it. I had a friend who served as bishop for about a year and asked for a release. That is an honorable way out too. You will do a great job. Just take it one day at a time. On a brighter note, some convicted murderers get less time than a bishop call...

Re: Update from the village

Glad to have met you in person Malcolm. Here’s my advice. Just be honest and tell everyone your not going back. Your taking a continued sabbatical after having the year off for Covid. Then go live your life and move on. No need for details or lists of issues. Or even for validation. “The church no ...

Re: Update from the village

It's always good to hear these stories - even though they're not all uplifting, it's really helpful to others (thinking of myself here) that are still in the thick of the mixed faith marriage part. I'm glad to hear that you're starting to turn the corner away from the church, and I hope things go s...

Update from the village

Hey all. It has been a while. I pop in here every once in a while to see the latest, but I spend most of my time on FB, TicTok, Reddit, and Marco Polo. NOM was my first connection with fellow travelers during and after a faith/truth crisis which started in 2013. I found so much value as I stared int...

Our ward and stake are currently open for 1 hour sacrament attendance only but also doing the video version online for people who don’t feel comfortable attending in person. I’m currently not attending in person or watching online. I’m dreading the ward announcing a return of the 2nd hour bec...

Re: To share your doubts with your children or not, that is the question

Such great advice here. We have been candid about easy stuff like age of the earth, evolution, LGBT and racial equality, feminism and patriarchy, and especially polygamy. We have also had discussions about biblical mythology and the goodness in other churches. Lastly we have been open about our disa...

Re: Suicide

There is an old sectarian notion that suicide is a sin. I am glad he labeled this false. It would help if he acknowledged that this can be found in old church materials and is still false. So many doctrines of the religions have preached that sin is doing that thing that parents or community leader...

Week 1- short lesson, song, multiple prayers, Sacrament. Week 2- half hearted song, sacrament Week 3- impromptu sacrament with crackers on a hike. Week 4- nothing Week 5- repeat week 2. Ever since, 75% nothing with a few quick sacrament and maybe an off the cuff uplifting thought when we were with f...

Re: Asking for a friend: What are the resources for women married to a TBM? Podcasts, friendships, groups, etc.

There are FB groups called "Marriage on a Tightrope" and "Mormon Mixed Faith Marriage". I am a mod for both. I don't do much but the groups are great.

Re: I have an ally!

My DS that returned from his mish almost a year ago now, has been having a faith transition. He read the CES letter and is currently reading "Saints" and following the footnotes, which he says is quite an eye opener. I can have conversations with him now, and I don't feel quite so isolated. (Althou...

Consiglieri this was an instant classic. The ruse is so clear once you see it from the right (wrong) angle.

Re: Mormon things that just pop into your head

This just popped into my head tonight...out of the blue.... “Como la mayoria de las personas, nosotros creemos en Dios. Sabemos que el vive, y queria compartir con usted lo que sentimos por el.” This was like 35 years ago I did the mission. This was the first paragraph of the first discussion in Sp...

Re: Finally finished Brodie's NMKMH. Shaken

Sorry Malcolm. This is so hard to listen to. And probably the hardest part is knowing that it could take a long while for things to change and there's very little I could say that would hurry or soften that process. As some say, it's a marathon, not a sprint. But as long as you have truth on your s...

Re: Finally finished Brodie's NMKMH. Shaken

I am about half way through Waco. I wish my wife would watch it with me, but she refuses to watch anything beyond TV14. Real things are too real for her Mormon-ified world view. Sigh. Sorry. Although I am not sure why Waco is more than TV14. I don't recall any nudity or real graphic violence. There...
