Re: Apostle Fireside

I would recommend asking the questions using a tone that indicates you are an.active, faithful member with a few questions. That should be easy to do. I am an active member that wants to stay in church. And yes, you are absolutely right. I definitely do not want to have an adversarial tone. I figur...

Re: Apostle Fireside

I like the idea of pairing it down and keeping it to the essays themselves. Maybe something like: The essays contain very important information to help TBMs keep to church sourced materials for information on accurate church history. However, the essays are not part of any curriculum and rarely dis...

Are you sure it's a real life visit and not a broadcast?
Yes, they are going to physically be in our Stake Center, and it will be broadcast to about 50 other Stake Centers.

Re: Your assignment is to create an account on LDS.org

The bishop was taking people's pictures at tithing settlement for the ward directory. I refused. If I wanted my picture on the directory I would do so. And I'm definitely not uploading my mugshot taken in the church hall. You can modify your own pictures after they are put on the directory. A few y...

Re: Your assignment is to create an account on LDS.org

The seminary kids are being asked to create an account on LDS.org. Dear Parents, Every student was given the assignment to create an account on lds.org. This will allow them to log into their seminary profile and record their personal study of the New Testament, see their attendance history, and vi...

I'd be OK with it IF there were financial transparency, and we actually knew that the church used all Fast Offerings to "help the needy."
I too long for more financial transparency from the church... :(

Apostle Fireside

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted here. I posted more on the old board. I'd like some feedback from all of you. My stake is going to be hosting two apostles this coming Friday (1/27). It is supposed to have something to do with raising children in this day and age and it is suppose...

Re: Obligatory Post on Tithing ;-)

For my tithing settlement this year, I wrote my bishop an email that basically said, 'We're full tithe payers, and were not coming in". I never heard anything back from him or the exec sec, and I still have a temple recommend.

Re: Obligatory Post on Tithing ;-)

So the question is. Did I lie to my bishop? No, you did not lie to your bishop. That is exactly how tithing settlement is supposed to work. Bishops constantly remind people that they don't have to be 'paid up' for the year when they come to tithing settlement. Our ward this year was done with tithi...

Re: Fast offering is a scam

I was recently a finance clerk until we moved and I was released. I'd just like to add some clarifying details to what your friend told you. Every bishop and branch president is counseled to use FO funds as directed by the spirit. Of course that means that some bishops will be more 'giving' and some...

Our SM starts at 12:00, and it's not being changed. 12:00 - 1:00 > 12:00 - 3:00.

However, we do have four wards in our building, The other three are meeting at 8:00, 10:00 and 2:00.

Re: Convert baptism

We've had 6 in the last two years. Three were a full fledge family. Mom, Dad, and Daughter. They were involved in 4-H and surrounded by mormon families. They wanted to dip their fries in the magic sauce they felt was missing in their life. To be honest, it works for them and they are generally happ...

Talks in Primary

I got a text from the Primary Secretary yesterday. "Hi Brother AZflyer, this is Sister Primary Secretary. Can AZflyer Jr. give the talk in primary tomorrow? The theme is reverence is love and respect for God." I responded with a 'sure'. and got a "Thank you!" back. I know 'reverence' can be a trigge...
