Re: Rainbows

I have asked of the Lord concerning His coming; and while asking the Lord, He gave a sign and said, "In the days of Noah I set a bow in the heavens as a sign and token that in any year that the bow should be seen the Lord would not come ; but there should be seed time and harvest during that year ...

Re: Mormon Discussion Youtube Videos

So what is the fall out from Bill's podcast? Here is Bill's post on exmo reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/18dnmp9/bill_reel_here_i_have_changed_my_mind_on/ Bill Reel deleted a lot of his comments. I think he knows that some of what he said was not good. If you go to the end of the ...

Re: Mormon Discussion Youtube Videos

It looks like these are most common with the shorts. I rarely listen to those, but they are click-baity. I feel like Bill Reel has adopted some unhealthy habits. I don't know if anyone followed the dust up over mandatory reporting on reddit. Bill describes his position as "fearless" and "challenging ...

Re: Tithing Unsettlement

Like Oprah…: everyone gets a temple recommend! Simply wanting to attend should be enough. I agree, but the little economic psychology I have heard makes me wonder: if anyone could go to the temple who wanted to, would the lack of scarcity mean that no one actually wants to? Would anyone go if just a ...

Re: Do you have a god?

I hope for a god. I hope there is some sort of eternal existence that allows people to grow. Eternal progression really appealed to TBM me. Some days I am more hopeful. Other days less. At the least, I hope for a god according to Spinoza's ideas: not conscious, but the sum of laws and principles ...

Re: Tithing Unsettlement

They are all current temple recommend holders. In any future recommend interviews I will follow the handbook and ask the prescribed questions. If the individual answers the tithing question in the affirmative I won't dig any further and likely issue a recommend. If they outright say no to that ...

Re: Mormon Missions ARE Human Trafficking

I broke when she shared her efforts to go home. I'm so glad her life has gotten better. The only reason I finished my mission was the fear of what my world would be if I left early. It's all about the fear.

Re: Mormon Missions ARE Human Trafficking

I've listened for 14 seconds and Holland is triggering me. He knows good and well that someone, many someones, are thinking about going home. Unless I was really weird, it is constantly on the mind of many missionaries. This is good. Thanks.

Re: Anybody know anything about Patrick Kearon? New Apostle

... perhaps Kearon can bring some much-needed reform to Mormonism. I'm going to re-state Just This Guy's statement with my sociall-reject filter: Reform? Not until all of the old, non-reformers DIE. By the time he gets into the unleashed seat, there will be a whole new crop of a-holes who will ...

Re: Requirements for a Stake

In the Mid-Atlantic, they will just stack more and more callings onto the few people who do go. Everyone can put more shoulder to the wheel, right? I had 6 callings at one point, that is on top of the standard ones everyone has like home teaching/ministering. 3 ward level and 3 stake level callings ...

Re: Requirements for a Stake

The math says - there is a problem with this model. Basically, the minimum required to create a ward is less than the minimum required to staff a ward. It is hard to fathom what has happened to lower the standard to this level. Wards in the midwest will go without executive secretaries or SS ...

Re: Peter Santanello's new "Mormon" YouTube videos.

When the guide tells him that Mormons have been on the move for most of their history, that's bogus. The church headquarters hasn't moved in 170 years.

I guess he's letting the guy tell his story. I'd love to see an exmo take him around.

I think leaders will be just fine with this increased participation, as long as those women do not crowd the dais.
It appears they think that women will just accept their non-pulpit status.

Requirements for a Stake

I've been interested in the new standards for creating stakes and ward : https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/187zkj6/a_lot_of_wards_esp_outside_the_usa_are_about_to/ Stakes are required to have 150 full-tithe paying priesthood holders. There could be a problem as more people check out ...

Re: A Uchtdorf rise to the Prophetic throne is reasonable.

OfSusan's reign will probably be uneventful from a doctrinal perspective. He'll crack down on appreciating church authority, especially his own. If he comes right after Uchtdorf, there might be some shock as the members go from someone who seems to care to someone who is much more worried about ...

Good question. I don't remember what they have done before. There are strong indications that they may need one or two beyond the one they know about now.
