Re: Have you ever cause a FC for someone else?

About 2 hours in, a lady came over from across the room and said "sorry to interrupt, but I overheard your conversation. I am a Mormon, can I answer any of your questions?" We were quite surprised. We told her we are too and that we are good. Now I wish I would have had her pull up a chair, pull ou...

Re: NOMference Weekend of Service

Hi everyone! Thanks for the heads up, Zack. I thought about showing up for the NOMWOS as usual. Looks like I should have! Maybe I'll get the ol' Wordle machine out once the sessions are over. I'm doing well. I really don't think about the church very often anymore...old church friends have pretty mu...

Re: Don't think I can go back to church after today

Misbehaved, I can so relate to what you went through this week. While I started questioning long before my DH did, he was ready to quit before I was. I desperately wanted to hang on, afraid of losing relationships and alienating family. But I too got to the point that I just. couldn't. do it anymore...

Re: Social Media and Conference

I think I must have blocked enough because I'm not getting nearly as many gushing conference posts in my feed this time around. And no FB events leading up to it this time as far as I have seen. So far all I've seen is complaints about the dissenting votes (and a link to the LDS Living article about...

Re: Church or Marriage

Yeah, the paucity of resources for such a large problem is very troubling. Those two links were to Ensign articles by regular Joe Members, one was "name withheld", they weren't guidance from the Brethren. Elder's Oaks paltry comments are heartbreaking in terms of the grossly inadequate leadership r...

Re: Church or Marriage

This really upsets me. The Brethren know there is a tremendous amount of pain in the Church where one spouse wants to leave and another wants to stay. They could very easily say "Don't let religious disagreements ruin your marriage! It is OK if your spouse chooses a different religious path. Famili...

Re: 101 Uses for a Vibrator

This topic came up at a RS enrichment playgroup one day. Everyone wanted to know how to make sex better, wanting to do something similar to what you are doing. It never went anywhere, unfortunately. Jennifer Finlayson-Fife is an LDS therapist who specializes in relationship and sexuality couns...

Re: Previous Callings you've had?

Ward choir pianist (x3) Primary pianist Den leader RS VT supervisor Yep, that's it. When we moved out of Utah, we discovered that pianists are not nearly as common outside the morridor. Every move we made it usually took only a week or two to be given a pianist calling. I preferred it that way. I di...

Great idea! I hope he sees this. But in the meantime, the Wayback Machine does have the website archived 121 times. The links are active so you can even open up threads and read them there. For example, check out the capture for January 17, 2013. This link is for the Support forum. The pages after t...

Re: Polygamy Essay

It’s crossed my mind to record the lesson, but I’m not really sure how to do it properly. I’m afraid Siri will interrupt the lesson or something. :-) Or you could show off Siri's church knowledge. Ask her to list the wives of Joseph Smith or Brigham Young. I think it is important to point out...

Re: Should I stop attending?

For now, it sounds like it's helping your relationship with your wife. Would it help to think of it in terms of supporting her rather than supporting the organization? But if it becomes increasingly difficult for you to be there, I'd talk to her about switching off every week. You'll still be there ...

Also remember that tone is important. If something is said or written in an angry tone, it's perfectly acceptable to address the lack of the spirit instead. And if you don't like the question, feel free to change it to one you do want to answer. One more thing: Since Google wasn't around when the Bi...

Keep in mind she came up with this list when she wrote a book on marital intimacy while she was still single.

January surprise?

There is supposed to be a big leak today or tomorrow that will help to bring more financial transparency. The reddit poster suggested asking people what they would consider a modest stipend to be for the leaders of the church. So...what say you?

Re: Taking off the garment

Coming late on this. I had a really hard time taking them off even though I hated them. They were so uncomfortable but it was the concreteness of the action that made it difficult. It made my unhappiness in the church more real, if that makes sense. If I didn't take them off, I could still pretend t...

S/O: Elder Oaks and Christmas Cards

For the people who were on the previous board, do you remember the post last year about Elder Oaks separating his cards into piles according to how religious they were? I seem to remember some people wanting to send cards to him this year that were of the "Happy Holidays" and "Season's Greetings" va...

Joseph Smith's FamilySearch page

Has anybody looked at this recently? Joseph Smith Jr. Some interesting things: *It's read only (Completely understandable. It didn't used to be this way though) *42 wives are listed; only the first 17 have marriage dates/locations listed *On the right hand side of the page you can look at the change...
