Re: Disclaimer Notices

Some advice for the COB watchers. Whenever a leader says something they need to attach a disclaimer. I give them three options. This is opinion, policy or revelation/doctrine. Would avoid confusion and all the speculation about every word they utter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oh, I agree, b...

My favorite part of The Testaments is they used some stock jungle noises and so at one point there is a dinosaur roaring in the background. Ooh... found it, just a couple seconds from here . LOL! Re: Apostate Quotes for Faithful Talks

I"ll never forget years ago when the one fringe hippy dude in our ward spoke in SM and quoted a line from a Nine Inch Nails song. I can't remember which line or song it was, but I think I was the only one in the audience that recognized the source. After the meeting I congratulated him on probably b...

Re: Winter is Coming in April

Seems to be lots of negative press for the last couple of seasons. I enjoyed the whole series and watched it twice. I liked the final season, no complaints. Perhaps what helped make it so enjoyable was the jazz cabbage, a good soak in the hot tub, a stack of munchies after a long work day and crappy...

Re: Dumbest FairMormon quote ever? Horses and chariots

Our ward's resident apologist likes to note that JS was probably just loan-shifting the word "chariot" because no one in his day would have understood the word "palanquin." We know that pre-Columbian palanquins were a thing in the Americas due to the story Atahualpa being surrounded by conquistador...

There is a scene in Hell on Wheels where Brigham Young attempts to woo the Olive Oatman character (tattoo faced woman from a mormon breakoff sect) back into his fold. This meeting reminded me of that.

Re: Materialism In LDS Culture

Boy howdy! I dealt with this my whole TBM life. Here's a case study: Grew up behind the zion curtain in an upper middle class white neighborhood - two car garage, modest 1800 Sq Ft home. All four kids with 2-4 years of college that was self paid for, missions were paid for by dad. No boats, big vaca...

Re: Near Death

All lies and jest, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. I like it! I've tried to keep an open mind but my significant mistrust of religion and how I've been duped in the past with emotional confirmation bias has caused me to lean more toward science. It's like taking any psych...

NDE information. A confirmation bias I am happy to indulge (I ignore any data which suggests it's biological).
Are you saying the confirmation bias is on the side of the science trying to explain it or on the side of the 2-3% of cardiac arrest patients who claim it as a metaphysical experience?

Why wait until you have a cardiac arrest or are on death's doorstep in a convalescence center crapping your diapers? You can go and see and experience the other side right now!

When I die, my spirit will leave my body to decompose here on earth and journey on to live eternally with 347 young virgin brides where I will spend all of my nights and weekends crocheting in the nude. Why knot? Don’t knit pick my doctrine! Now I have this vision in my head of the resurrected Red ...

Re: Next "Big Thing"

Recently s female relative of mine remarried after a death of her husband. She had been sealed to her first husband, but wanted to be sealed to her current (living husband). Currently, the only way to do that is if she gets the sealing to her first husband cancelled. I think what Brent is saying is...

This thread reminded me of a YT video I watched recently on "attacking ideas" about religions and groups and polarization.

The tribalism runs deep in our genetic make up. It could be our undoing if we can't evolve past it.

if you want your burger to taste twice as good, you need THC, not CBD. In fact, CBD dulls the effects of THC, so if you want to get your munchies on, you'll need an extra flat spliff of jazz cabbage to make it so. I first read the post as saying THC, so when I read yours, I can to go back and verif...

Re: church opposition to the Equality Act

While providing extremely broad protections for LGBT rights, the Equality Act provides no protections for religious freedom. "Religious Freedom" is a broad term that's now used by "non-profit" corporations to protect their rights to use investment schemes to hide billions in assets that were purcha...
