Re: Tithe or you'll be burned?

We used to joke around about tithing, calling it "fire insurance", but really, we used that metaphor as one more justification to buoy up our faith and pay it. Windoze of heaven and all that.

Virtual hugs and fist bumps Red! I'm so very happy to see your progress with your goddess. It's such a beautiful thing when a couple starts to get back into synch after going through something like this. Carpe Diem!

Anyone ever tour the Lion House in SLC as a youth or kid? Remember that awful molasses candy they gave you at the end of the tour?

Re: Communication skills

Reminds me of the Mehrabian Study in the 70s, Alas. When communicating emotionality, it's what... 52% body language, 47% tone, and 7% the actual words? I'm sure I have the percentages off slightly, but that's the gist. Clarifying is crucial. Like are they mentally performing the perambulations from...

Re: The church and Equal Rights for women

I was barely a teen in 77, but I'll never forget the name Sonia Johnson and how much the church demonized her for standing up for ERA. She and some others actually stood up and verbally opposed the church leadership in a general conference session and it shocked a lot of people. https://en.wikipedia...

2. Thou shalt not make into thee any graven images except temples, which are allowed and bring glory to those who attend. You missed a part of the translation on the 2nd. A better interpretation is: 2. Thou shalt not make into thee any graven images except temples, which are allowed and bring glory...

Re: The most correct book....

The dwindling thing is particularly funny because, according to the story, dwindling in unbelief is exactly what they did, despite Laban losing his head to prevent it. They started dwindling in the first generation when Laman and Lemual split off and they continued to dwindle until the final great ...

If I knew I was going to be a god pretty soon because I got a magical foot washing I would probably be highly motivated to continue believing it. I've heard that foot porn is a lucrative business model in the latter daze... Just don't step on the hot George Foreman grill and mess up your career opp...

Re: The most correct book....

As far as whether the book's spiritual claims are correct, who knows? You can't prove or disprove the existence of supernatural beings and events. The biggest problem the church has is that it no longer believes the type of Christianity or godhead that is taught in the Book of Mormon. And the BoM f...

I'd dealt a lot with these types over my 40+ years in the culty corporation. I managed an associates degree, have been treated pretty well riding the tech industry wave since the late 80s. I live in a neighborhood of doctors, lawyers and folks that have a lot more disposable income than I do. I've e...

I listened to some of this Radio West podcast this morning, need to hear the whole thing, but it's some pretty interesting data about humans and food cravings: https://radiowest.kuer.org/show/radiowest/2023-12-06/the-end-of-craving It seems like the food, diet, medical, etc. industries fear and guil...

I’m interested in the inflammation reduction primary to alleviate low back pain from a herniated disc that flares up occasionally. I've been working on reducing my sugar intake. I love Coke and DP, but I've cut way back on those to just a couple times per month. As a regular dancer partner with Mar...

In your personal common sense opinion, would the earth be better off with the atmosphere having a CO2 level of 200 ppm or 800 ppm? My personal common sense: - emissions from petro-based fuels is unsustainable and unhealthy for all living things on the planet (crappy air quality crappy life) - the p...

The reason I say this is because the field of climate science is still in its infancy stage and has a very long way to go before it is fully developed.

What is your background and expertise that allow you to make this judgment? What qualifies a science as infantile or developed?
