Re: NeverMo friend and eternal families

I don't like that he has this false impression of the church "I know the Mormon church does a lot of good for a lot of people.."
But at least he recognizes the family wars that TSCC creates with their dogma and rules.
The worst is the kid caught in the middle of this mess.

Re: 60 Minutes this week: LDS & SEC

Something that I do not understand from the 60 Minutes interview was with the Former IRS, Tax Law guy…he said the IRS will likely not do anything to the church for using its non-prophet EPA fund to bail out the Insurance company…he said there were too many political risks…what does that mean? How w...

Re: Reframing

I do think I've been making some progress on this. I still do a lot of eye rolling when I come up against the culty cultural angst. But I try to follow it up with "Remember, you were there once." It's not just the former church life, but trying to keep my attitude toward it now in a place of empathy...

It's interesting there's no polygamy in the BOM;
Simple, no females were really written about. Who cares about girls? Nothing worth saying anything about at all.
Unless she was a really beautiful well known harlot. JS seems to be a bit preoccupied with that at times.

Re: Gratuitous violence in the BOM?

Maybe he just read the bible? He was obviously trying to one-up the Bible in many ways, so he had to have at least as much violence to make it feel like it was in the same genre. I agree with this. I see a thought process that goes like 1. The bible is scripture, 2. The bible has violence. 3. To be...

Re: Alcohol?

As for cannabis? I use it every day and enjoy it more than alcohol. I've had a medical card here in Utah since the registry opened. According to my PCP, the benefits and improvements for me health-wise have been measurable, so I'm all about cannabis. Dry herb vaping and carts are my go-to's. Edible...

Re: Alcohol?

Alcohol is an interesting molecule for society; hard to say how history might have unfolded differently without it. I found my use of alcohol is way down since I got my medical cannabis card. We were not heavy drinkers before, like 1-2 hard drinks per month, 1-2 glasses of wine or beers per week, bu...

Simple. Plain. Looks like the colors of the USA (red, white, blue). I’m surprised the colors aren’t Red, Yellow and Blue. I get the beehive. Not sure what the lone star means. Will have to google. This design will also not age well IMO. The star is like the kitch some folks like to put on their mid...

Re: Technology- has it ruined music?

I surf a very broad spectrum of music and it's a big part of my life and my family's lives, 4 out of our six kids are in bands, writing their own music and one has a masters and is now a theater director at the HS she went to. I played in the jazz band for four years at the local university and my w...

Wow.

So Holy the Ghost can "bear witness" to Bing Chat AI?

Maybe Bing Chat AI has been fasting, praying, and paying 15% tithing so the Ghost constantly dwelleth within it's circuitry?
Maybe Bing Chat AI has several shell companies, hiding the donations it received from lds.corp.

Re: Church secret dealings?

There was a good write up I found back in 2015 by a student at BYU on Heber Js 1893 loan seeking activities, but alas, it's gone now. I remember it showed a lot of desperation of him running around NY, looking for anyone willing to provide a loan to save the UT banks. He was certainly behaving as a ...

Re: Is it possible to get your donation history from the church?

To add insult to injury they were inexplicably rude to me when I handed it over at the COB, and I came away feeling like they thought I was holding back, or had somehow cheated them. I had naively been expecting big friendly smiles and pats on the back, and that I would come walk away filled with T...

This tells me that either Oaks believes he can rob God and get away with it, or that he doesn't really believe any of his own BS about an Eternal Tribunal and hides his own deceit behind lofty, godly language. Why not both? The adequacies of the laws of profits, provide a license for transgression ...

Re: Church paying $5 Million SEC fine

Over at the Mormon D&D apologetic board, they are spinning the story that this is all the SEC's fault and the Church did nothing wrong. I suspect that is the story that will be fed to the faithful, that the satan-fueled SEC falsely accused the innocent Saints. Unmitigated Kool-aid drinkers.... Sham...

Re: Analogies: Radio Vs. Shelf

My favorite radio program was Prairie Home Companion, it was wholesome like Music and the Spoken Word, but with better music and more inspiring words from Lake Wobegon. Powder Milk Biscuits, mmmmm they're tasty! I started listening to PHC back in 79 when I was still in HS. It was fun to hear him jo...
