Re: Under the Banner of Heaven TV show

Episode three, which dropped this last week has a pretty descriptive, and from my prospective and accurate temple seen in it. There is a discussion about the washing and anointing that takes place. From outsiders looking in, is probably very strange.

I also regret the demise of NOM 1.0. Just like I regret the loss of FLAK.

Re: The Best Two Years?

It was not the best two years of my life. However, I did a lot of growing up on my mission. I obeyed all of the rules. I went state side, so I didn't learn a language. However, I learned how to study. Something I didn't or couldn't do in my freshmen year at BYU. I came back more mature, and more dis...

Re: How do you make them understand?

Humans are social animals. We have been for centuries, and probably were so from day one. We have an innate need to belong, and this has served us well.. Humans survived by forming groups, and later tribes. Our DNA tells us that become separated from ones group or tribe could be fatal. Mormonism is ...

And both parents and students pay the church ten percent of their income. The church has all the angles covered. Which is what you would expect from an organization that is top heavy with lawyers.

Re: Equality of pay for women

Why does pay have to be equal? The man is the breadwinner so pay should be more for men. Besides, a women’s place is in the home raising and nurturing children, keeping it clean, and preparing supper for when the man returns from work...said every Mormon leader when I was growing up. I am sure many...

Re: Bill Reel Gets Ultimatum from Stake President

I have lost most of the respect I once held for the top church leaders (Q15). I have come to the conclusion that most of them are not completely honest. This is an opinion I usually keep to myself, especially when I am around family and other TBMS.

Re: Pres Nelson's BYU Speech Today

It's just like Consiglieri eloquently described, but here it is if you really want to listen. I'm sure there are arguments happening on BYU campus right now as students and teachers try to justify the status quo to the careful skeptics among them. I will certainly give credit to Russell Nelson for ...

Writing a person's name down, delivering it to the temple where it is added to a sack with other names and then laid on the altar and prayed over by a circle of people dressed in robes. Asking people to give money to the organization before they take care of family needs like food and shelter, Hosan...

Another issue with the stone in the hat translation process, is where do the plates fit in? If the plates were not used in the "translation" process, then why did Moroni lugged these things 2000 miles to NY?

My four adult children were out before DW and I left. From what I can tell from neighbours and friends, about half of their children are inactive or have left. I live in South Utah County.

Re: Utah’s ‘most successful Pride Festival ever’

From my vantage point, the crowd was very supportive. There was a spectrum of support: Young people, families with strollers, couples, older people (my catagory). My take away from the whole expreience was to be who you reall are. It was really cool.

Re: Gay Pride Flags

I was at the SLC pride day festival and parade. The turn out was huge. There is a lot of support and momentum in Utah for LGBTQ support. I believe this pressure will force TSCC's hard. Kicking and Screaming, they will have to find a way to be inclusive.
