Re: Could Mormons Spot the Anti-Christ?
Great Post SaidNobody. The fact that everyone is screaming at the tops of their lungs "Orange Bad Man" is the big clue that he is not the anti-christ. Nor is he even that bad of a guy. May I also submit that all the fervor is really to distract everyone's attention away from something or someone muc...

Re: Senator Mike Lee: Trump's another Captain Moroni!
Kevin Christiansen from MD&D put it well: Having read the Book of Mormon, and Nibley's essay on Freeman and Kingman in the Book of Mormon, I missed the parts of the story where Captain Moroni paid off mistresses, separated children from refugee parents as deterrent, hired corrupt and ignorant peopl...

Welcome Nlloydj, like others have already said, I can also sympathize with what you are going through at the moment. As you go through this journey, realize that it takes time. You are in no hurry. However, as you continue to question and learn things, take time to substantiate your mental health an...

Re: A one-liner that captures your disaffection
Now that the thread has been bumped. I've heard and made up lots of one-liners over the years, some "funny," some "polite" so as to not hurt believers feelings; But honestly, at this point, I hope with most folks I can just cut to the chase and say: The church is not true. Or you could have just sa...

Re: Donald Trump A Most Noble President
Whether you like him or not, you have to have amazingly strong staying power and thick skin to weather the media backlash and storm that he has endured. And again whether you agree with what he says or not, he handles those daily press conferences better than the media themselves.

Re: What will church look like...after Covid-19
I believe church attendance is going to be way down until at least Jan 2021. Still attendance numbers will take years to recover fully, if ever. So you will definitely see a push to get people back out to meetings. On the flip side, I think the church is going to wait until people feel the crisis is...

Re: Culture of Fake Friends
And that, my friends, is one thing Mormonism has taught us - other people are a means to an end. You don't serve people because you love them, you serve them because you are supposed to and God wants you to and you'd better if you want to make it to the tippity top of the Celestial Kingdom. Needles...

Re: Ed Smart comes out as gay
NOTHING is private about Facebook. You can add to that list twitter, Instagram and any other of those big social media sites. If you are well known or infamous, anything you post can come back and bite you. And in this case it came back to bite Ed Smart. From the way I see it this situation is messe...

Re: Would the church ever change the name of BYU...?
The name is a national well known brand at this point. And there is nothing "negative" about the name from an outsiders perspective, except for the fact that it's linked to the LDS church.
What BYU should REALLY do is look into changing their ridiculous honor code.

Re: Maybe it’d be nice if everyone posted a very short intro who they are
Born and raised Mormon. I always making decisions based on doing the "right" thing and what my church leaders said would be the "righteous and smart thing to do." Because after all you will be blessed financially and be destitute otherwise...right? Well the exact opposite happened to me and I ended ...

Hey everyone, I'm M, nice to meet everyone. I finally joined up because I needed some people to talk to, who understand what it's like leaving the Church. I'm a 30-year old single guy, finishing an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I grew up a member of the Church and really, wholeheartedly belie...

OK...I did misquote...but I found a direct reference. This experience is mentioned in an audio recording by Dr. John Lewis Lund in "The Myth we Call Perfection".....Covenant Communications Inc, 2003. I've since seen Dr. Lund has a bit of a racket going with stolen things in Israel. I think later in...

Re: Did anyone here get a divorce over all of this?
The LDS influence was complicit in my divorce. I was in way too long,...and the church influenced that through fear, not through any enlightened doctrines. Ditto! I could go into all the dirty details of mine but in the end the details don't matter. Suffice it to say I should have divorced within t...

I'm craving french fries now! And lesbian grown organic foods... Then one day you realise that all you have been doing for years and years is just sitting there watching; mute, dissatisfied and hungry every time you go to McDonald’s and it’s no longer enough. You want to be in restaurants and kitch...

(emphasis added)Q. How can a bishop help counsel a couple whose husband is entering a realm of agnosticism? A. Elder Perry: That is a real challenge and thank goodness you are a judge in Israel. Stalled?? Jimmer is a friggin god in China! You know, the market that Hollywood desperately tries to woo and the LDS leadership probably salivates over? This is all part of God's plan no doubt to introduce the restored gospel to billions. ;) Personally I think things would've worked out differently...

I was listening to Lindsay Hansen Park's interview about the Snufferites on RadioWest last week and she mentioned a story about a vision seen at the dedication of the Kirtland temple. I had to see it in print and found it in The Oxford Handbook of Mormonism , edited by Terryl Givens, Chapter 32 by ...

Re: Any real experiences with blessings?
How 'bout we take "experience" and any sort of bias out of the question, and just look at reality: If "priesthood blessings" actually worked there would be significantly less illness and death from said illness in areas with a high population of believing LDS folk. Statistics show that this is not ...
