Re: Are youth really leaving?

There's a new postmo group on FB that's loaded with young adults, 20-35ish. Growing like crazy.

Of my siblings, half of us are out.

Any updates? Did you tell your parents, no? If so, did you find someone who could help you?
They are coming. I feel a lot better about things now. Will hide my corks and heathen decor most likely.

Re: Primary kid interviews?

Why are these survey's so scretive? I understand TSCC doesn't want every Joe Schmuck on the internet chiming in. However it seems reasonable this should be discussed by the membership body as a whole. What happened to the Law of Common Consent? It's been replaced by the Law of Statiscal Surveys. My...

Re: My parental units--is a visit worth it?

By the way, there's a thing (I don't remember what it's called) where you can take time off for medical issues in regards to family, and can't be fired for doing so. A relative of mine is taking it because one of their grown kids has a serious health issue. Anyway, I don't want to say too much beca...

Re: My parental units--is a visit worth it?

When I had my first baby, well there was no way my mother could fly to Berlin Germany, but as is traditional with mothers, she wanted to come “help” after my second baby. I am sorry, Mom, but it was so much more stress and trouble than the help was worth. That was the last time I allowed someone in...

Re: My parental units--is a visit worth it?

I'd probably go with "no" on this trip. I'd rather people visit me when I can enjoy them than when it would be adding stress to my life while I was trying to recuperate. This is probably colored by the "helpful" trips that my grandma made when I was a child that resulted in mass stress for my paren...

My parental units--is a visit worth it?

They want to come "help" me when I'm on bed rest this summer. I will be down for 2-3 weeks. They have a intensive DIY remodeling project at home and are in their sixties. So this visit is likely to be mostly them keeping me company while they recover from working too hard, their possibly running an ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvZPuduWqU8 Remember the lady who made the rape charge at the Missionary Training Center and last week told how people are assaulting her? This is pretty sensitive material so I hope McKenna is not being misrepresented. I've heard some of it before. Obviously JB stil...

Re: Materialism In LDS Culture

An 11% raise means my retirement is funded and I have more toys.

I also don't have to feel guilty about materialism, I can be materialistic if I want.

I also don't have to go into debt or hide my problems so people don't assume I should be ashamed of my wickedness.

Re: Nice Chat with SCMC Member Today

Well that's interesting - the church does indeed hire out for help with the SCMC: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/confidential-records-specialist-1-fluent-in-english-portuguese-reading-and-writing-required-salt-lake-city-at-lds-1124328323/ Must be temple worthy. Re: Latest Netflix (Atypical, Life After)

I just finished two great shows on Netflix. Life After. A depressingly funny show with Ricky Gervais. After Life follows Tony, whose life is upended after his wife dies from breast cancer. He contemplates suicide, but instead decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife's death by s...

Anyone a former bishop or stake pres?

Mormon Happy Hour Podcast says SCMC sends info they collect to each bishop you ever have. Can anyone confirm? Obviously they hoard data, but I'm not sure all bishops are keeping a masturbation tally? At the same time, I've confessed basically nothing ever, but had a couple consecutive bishops act we...

Re: No more year wait for sealing after civil marriage!

I wonder how long it will take for the average member to still not think of a civil marriage first as something less. I know many will still be thinking why they could not go to the temple. It may take awhile before civil marriages are taken seriously. Hopefully many young couples will jump on this...

Re: No "sealings" in the temple, only marriages?

Someone else pointed this out and I just want to be sure it is true - if you look at the exact wording in the temple ceremony, people are not actually sealed to one another, they are only "married" for time and eternity. There are individual blessings sealed on patrons, but these are for the indivi...

Re: It’s my voice, isn’t it?

Oh, I bet it did! That was really regressive, wasn't it? Someone who claims to be her real life friend said that it was poor word choices in an unscripted meeting. But she also acknowledged it will haunt and follow her. 🤷🏼‍♀️ And her daughter said it was carefully planned and agonised over how to w...
