Just lost a close relative to covid. I'm kind of glad the family is mostly uber TBM. They have the belief of being together again. I can't believe how far behind the USA is with getting ahead of this thing.
Oh no. I am so sorry.

Re: How are you holding up?

I have been doing some home improvement projects. Work from home hasn't been overly demanding, but I so very desperately needed a break from work this feels like a blessing. I feel fortunate to have a large home and relatively small family so there's plenty of space and quiet. I do not have a clue h...

Doesn’t help either when missionaries are walking off planes onto US soil without any form of care by customs or the church. Welcome home “hero”, now go self quarantine. Meanwhile: https://i.redd.it/gxrl4i5rzpo41.png Church news said none of the missionaries had rested positive. Anyone want to bet ...

I'm definitely eating lots of carbs, but also more physically active at home than I was at work.

69,171 cases in the US and 340 in Utah. We were "10 days behind Italy" I believe tomorrow or the next day we will pass them up. Looks like the USA just pole vaulted right past both Italy and China. Ugh. And the USA isnt accurately reporting either for that matter. To be tested in my community it ta...

TP is starting to become available if you get there first thing in the morning.

My investments have taken a hit.

Work is asking me to start accounting for at home hours. Which is fine. My kids are starting to get bored and a bit cranky.

Re: What are you drinking right now?

I find that Dunkin Donuts medium roast made at home with a $2 Ikea french press is tastier than just about any coffee I can buy for $2-3 out in the lone and dreary world, and WAY better than the stuff I usually drink at the UofU. Also, it costs (I'm guessing) about a nickle to make a cup this way. ...

Re: Any other retirees watching their future go down the drain?

I wish I had gotten out a year or so ago. Oh well. Yeah, my son kept warning me that it was a bubble for at least the past year. I did pull out a lot of my stock. So now I have something to feel good about regardless of which way it goes! Hopefully I can time it well to plug it back in at some poin...

Re: "Telling the truth never helps you."

By the way. I still believe honesty is the best policy. Trying to derail the Trump administration, eh? Hey, Trump is honest. He just doesn't let facts get in the way of his thoughts. Anyway... I have a difficult time being dishonest, or even opaque. (I have a few theories about why, and "autism spe...

"Telling the truth never helps you."

I do some consulting with Juvenile Justice. An LEO I provide support for was telling me about some of our case updates, and we were discussing differing accounts of the same event from different players. I outlined my typical method for creating intervention plans, noting that we assume all stories ...

Re: COVID-19 -- game in play

I believe our schools will not reopen April 16 as they plan. It was just announced that the decision to reopen has been pushed to May 1. To me that says schools out for this year. Now I'm really wondering what will happen next year, with the likelihood of a vaccine at least a year away. I am not in...

I am hearing from various sources that schools are closed for the year in:
Connecticut
Kansas
Virginia

And likely closed for the year in:
Washington
California

I believe our schools will not reopen April 16 as they plan.

Re: Any other retirees watching their future go down the drain?

People are saying disease related market crashes bounce back within 6 months? I don't know anything about markets but when the dow was on its way to 30K a lot of it felt like smoke and mirrors. There was some actual growth in there, but not enough real growth to sustain the markets at that level. I...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Weird. Where I live in the UK, people don't seem to be panic-hoarding. This evening, the canned goods aisle and boxed milk section at Tesco were sparse, but that seems to be it. People are just being cautious. We mostly get our groceries delivered, which is a huge thing here. Preparation for self-i...
