Re: Estrangement
Thanks..."he" is incarcerated, pending trial. Unfortunately there's more now, more perpetrators we've become aware of, more higher level (highest level?) cover ups, and Spouseman holding the line has turned overt aggression on him from people with everything to lose and a long history of getting th...

Re: Church and Politics
Interesting discussion. I am fairly liberal minded but was raised by extremely conservative parents. My inability to reconcile the conservative viewpoint with the gospel was a notch in my shelf early on. Interestingly, leaving the church was freeing for my existing views instead of changing them. I...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?
Re: false negatives. They are telling people here with symptoms to self isolate 14 days with a negative test to be sure. I've had 2 saliva tests recently as part of screenings. Due to my public facing job I'm anticipating getting the vaccine as soon as this coming week. Waiting to hear about an appo...

A coffee grinder, better filters and a good machine were enough for me.
Today though, red wine with my garlic chicken pizza.

Re: Happy Solstice!
Happy Winter Solstice to all the NOM-Type folks (In the Northern Hemisphere - Happy Summer to you Southerners.) May you have an enjoyable day, whether you're celebrating Yuletide, Saturnalia, Brumalia, Sanghamitta Day, or if you're just celebrating that our tiny rotating 'blue' sphere is tilted at ...

Re: Estrangement
I'm sorry you have to deal with all of this on top of everything else, Thoughtful. MORmONism basically estranged my family of origin from each other, even when we were all attempting to be good MORmONs. "The Church" was always the most important thing in my family, which is what I believed caused t...

Re: Estrangement
Sorry to hear that you are feeling estranged. That sucks. DW has gone to lengths to hide our disaffection from our family. However, there is still some suspicion, so we still get avoided a little. Thank you. This sounds like my side. My folks have taken it all better than I thought. I finally told ...

Re: Estrangement
I know I'm not the only one informally estranged from certain family members. However, it's anyone formally estranged from specific relatives within a big old ugly Mormon dynasty? Did you set boundaries with other family members regarding events where you'll both be present/ invited to? Do you tell...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?
One of my best friends has symptoms. She has been so careful. She almost quit her job to avoid it. Her coworker has been at work sick all week and was afraid of the nasal swab. Coworker finally was tested and its positive. So my friend likely is positive also. My house is the safe space for LGBT Tee...

Re: #givethanks
My thought is: what breaking controversy or scandal is this covering up for?
If not, its just attention seeking and self validation.
But I told my mother I thought it was a nice message and we had a good moment on the phone. Sigh.

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?
Its fascinating to me how the lawsuits from churches and businesses are overriding the best scientific knowledge. America will kill itself off via rugged individualism and personal "rights". Meanwhile, other countries govts incentivise compliance and they are succeeding, at least, more than we are. ...

Re: Coffee question
I prefer a Folgers-like coffee. I like the most boring, non flavored coffee with some half and half, and a little sweetener. I've tried some of the "fancy" stuff and I don't like it. If I'm out and about (which is almost never), and stop at Starbucks, I get blonde roast. It's not so bitter. The les...

Re: Coffee question
I drink filtered dark roast coffee with a splash of almond milk, using freshly ground beans. Seems to be pretty consistent. One thing to consider is that unfiltered coffee has some health detriment compared to filtered. I do not filter mine because it tastes more bitter without the oils the filter ...

Re: Are member's testimonies changing?!
Spouseman was in a conversation with an active TBM lady week and they volunteered the thought that, "the church is really a mess right now. Their aggressive stance against everything LGBT, women, and race is just spiraling into crazy."

Re: Worship the church rather than Christ
So, so many sacrament meetings where Christ was only mentioned in the prayers.
Spouseman and I used to tally Jesus references because they were rare.
