Re: Undisclosed Compensation

The Washington Post wrote an article on 10/11/2017 detailing the undisclosed compensation former judge Roy Moore received from a christian charity he started. $180,000/year but he claimed he did not take a “regular salary” from the small charity he founded to promote Christian values because he did...

Personally I don't think the gulf between Joseph's and Brigham's polygamous communes and the modern church's modesy fetish is as wide as it appears. I think they are just two sides of the same damn coin.
Yep. Own and control women's sexuality as a possession with which to exalt men.

I didn't read replies yet, but wanted to respond. I work with autism quite a bit. If you have insurance, look to see what your coverage is for ABA therapy. Get a good behavior analyst (there's a lot of bad ABA out there, but good ABA can work miracles). The progress between now and 7 years old is go...

Re: Shooters and Clubbers

I tend to feel there's some deep and difficult healing work needed for those of us with a heritage in the church. My PB says my heritage is "illustrious" which always bothered me because to me, that has a bit of a negative connotation. As I've learned more about gggparenrs, I've realized many very g...

Re: Would JS be a porn addict?

Michael Quinn's list of the contents of the first presidency vault includes "obscene materials." I have always wondered what that might be. Whoa, interesting. My thought on the OP question is that there is no such thing as a porn or sex addict, and that that disease model takes away personal respon...

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

FAIR tries to downplay the accusation that Joseph sent men on missions so he could marry their wives by claiming that there are only two well documented cases of this happening. ONLY two? Isn't that enough? How many do you need? I agree. This is the part of Joseph's polygamy that is so ugly and so ...

I haven't been active or a tithe payer, for quite awhile. This service would instill in me a sense of obligation to either come to church or return the service to my neighbors.

Re: How Mormon can you be for your TBM spouse?

Have you seen Kristy Money's mixed orientation marriage workbook? Dr.Phils book Family First is also good. I think these are both good resources for focusing and building on what is working, even if it's small. I believe that there's a way to make a mixed faith marriage work, but I'm also trying to ...

Re: Why no children from JS plural marriages?

I think the original intent of the thread was looking for a smoking gun...(no pun intended here...really). If JS had progeny from those other than Emma, the debate over whether he was having sex with his wives would be over--or so we think. I think the debate will continue because apologetics isn't...

Re: I realized that there was no need for women

Maybe president Hinckley was inspired telling women to get education. Education is the key to women seeing and experiencing success in the world, which they don't experience at church..

FMH Society FB group is very active, even if the blog isn't. Check it out.

I sometimes wonder if I would be a feminist if I didn't grow up LDS. I don't experience discrimination in my day to day life, except at church. And at church, it's bad.

From the FMH and Exponent II FB groups, I would say they are becoming larger post -mo communities, or more Mormon sects oriented instead of just LDS. The church is hemorrhaging their best and brightest women, and I think it will be the downfall of the church. My TBM relatives, YW leaders, temple wor...

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down. Like trophywife, I've felt depressed since I decided the church isn't true. I'm probably inclined to depression anyway, but it's been years now since I came up for air. I'm filled with emptiness, ennui, a complete lack of energy and motivation. It sucks. ...

Re: Proof all you anti-Mormons will eventually come around...

People seeing historical material that "unsettles" them... but then they decide to have faith and ignore all the problems.

In other words, they are announcing in these stories tat the history is actually quite problematic. But don't worry.

This is "inoculation".
