I enjoyed the first season but too much time has gone by. It's a very complex story and I'm going to have to watch some episode summaries to get caught up.
Yeah not one to watch while multitasking!

Re: Missouri Trial of Joseph Smith and others, Nov. 12, 1838

If B.F. Johnson is an ancestor of yours, we are related. My ancestor was his younger brother, George. Hello cousin! My direct ancestor is BF's brother Joseph Ellis. The Johnson's were pretty illustrious in the early church, with Joel Hills writing High On a Mountaintop; BF being a Danite, Almera a ...

Re: Beware of Murder Among the Mormons!

My wife called me Mark Hoffman after we watched Murder Among the Mormons. Later I told her that that offended me and later she apologized. She said that I was more honest before my faith crisis/transition (8 years ago). Now she says I am dishonest with her like I believe the church is dishonest wit...

They call you, and...you accepted? Are you paying tithes now? What is your plan....lift where you stand, or burn it the eff down?

Re: Missouri Trial of Joseph Smith and others, Nov. 12, 1838

Here is a site that has the records of Joseph Smith's trial in Missouri Nov. 12, 1838. Included is testimony by W.W.Phelps, Thomas Marsh, Sampson Avard, John Corrill, and others concerning the Mormon War of 1838. The testimony includes pretty reliable confirmation that the Mormons burned homes and ...

Nothing.

Waiting on hubby to wake up so we can go out.

Has anyone tried the Finnish hard seltzer, "Long Drink"? It's gin based and grapefruit flavored. Not bad at all!

DARK

Series on Netflix. German with English overdubbed.

It's pretty good, and of anyone has seen it, I wonder if anyone else picked up on some of the paradox themes that align with LDS theology. "Doing the same things done in other worlds" etc.

Learning that nice and kind are not actually the same thing was a pivotal change in my personal development and understanding of my fellow humans.

Passive agressiveness. Mormons have it down.
I also went through this realization. Kind can be much more difficult as well.

Re: Moving out of Utah

Welcome! I would not want to date in UT, especially as a woman. The misogyny from the church filters into non and ex mo dating. So yes, to pairbond, get out especially if you're female or femme. Living away from family is good for me. My son just spent his first year away from and it was good for hi...

Re: Does it really matter ?

I've always found NDE comforting because of the themes of love and unconditional peace people describe. If you enjoy reading them, the psychoanalyst Jung had one that is also interesting and doesn't invoke God or Jesus but a higher energy. A friend of mine is a nurse and she said she's seen some int...

Re: Doubters are lazy learners!!!!!

I believe "lazy learner" is a phrase for an artificial intelligence algorithm. If I understand it correctly, the algorithm requires experience trials to develop. Modification of the learner is through experience only. In a eager learner algorithm, there are programmed assumptions. So the lazy learn...

Thanks, I didn't want to go back and watch the episode. Also, the Brent Metcalfe thing I referenced above was wrong--the book was by Joseph's cousin Elias Smith according to John Dehlin on reddit. Re: Sexism of exmormon men

This week at Mormon Enlightenment, a postmo man started a thread asking people to come up with a name for a group of middle aged Mormon women. Examples suggested included a "herd" and other terms referring to animals. Misogyny ensued. Feminists called them out. They are now confused why their good f...
