Re: Do you tell people about NOM?

I have said too much about my family- wouldn't want them reading my take downs of their behavior.

But I have shared about NOM to friends. So far, none have joined. I need to up my NOM-ward missionary skills!

Re: I wish I hadn't volunteered

I get it. by nature I am not an altruistic person. I want things done right or not at all. Can you scale back?
If not, may your coke/coffee/wine/xanex/other drug of choice be plentiful.

Re: Visiting New Orleans

As a TBM I attended a work conference there about 15 years ago during Mardi Gras. It was disturbing to see what drunk people do out in public! The flashing of breasts didn't bother me but when I saw a girl giving oral sex to a guy out in the street... I think that would be disturbing even as a NOM ...

Re: What was your first NOM thought?

First item on my shelf: We had an Encyclopedia Brittanica when I was young- (for you millenials, it was how we googled stuff pre-internet) The Mormon church was listed in world religions as a tiny percent of the world's population- but I grew up in the Morridor- and that seemed impossible. But...

Re: Your Random LDS Questions

Here's a legit question I asked in the RMN meets the Pope thread: What happens if all 15 top COBlers parish in an unfortunate plane crash or some other "God needed them more than us." end of mortality demise? If all the beloved non-profits, seers and key holding revelators are no longer living, doe...

Re: Your Random LDS Questions

I will start: Will LDS people accrue Celestial Kingdom demerits for eating green tea ice cream? According to urban legend, David O. McKay said you can eat all of the tea, coffee and alcohol you would like. Section 89 states that you are not supposed to drink those substances. Dang. That means I hav...

Re: Joel Osteen and others

I used to love Joyce Meyer. When I used to teach RS I would talk about watching her sermons just to see the ladies reactions. Some of them were so uptight about me watching someone from another religion and being inspired. Now that I am no longer believer in any religion it's kind of hard to stick w...

Re: Bad movie night is the best night

I just saw Logan's Run was on netflix or Hulu (not sure) I tried to get my kids to watch it but they lost interest too soon.

But a fun one to watch with the kids is the Flash Gordon movie from the 80's.

Re: Winter is Coming in April

I used to pirate the show back in the days of low speed internet. It would take FOREVER to load. And then what if it froze on one of the naked boobies scenes?! I couldn't get my then-TBMish hubby to watch it with me in the beginning because it was too vulgar. How the world has changed in jus...

Re: Mormon/LDS/ETCOJCOLDS website name changes now official

Riots in Venezuela over political conflict and lack of food. Possible cure for AIDS has made headway in a newly published case. Tensions at a head between Pakistan and India. And in other breaking news, the LDS church is spending all of their time and resources re-branding their name and websites......

Re: The exmo selfie train!

I enjoy scrolling through. It gives me hope because I am not one of them. I am still stuck in the middle. Just had a big fight with DH last night over girls camp. I don't want our DD to attend, but he does. We are at a stalemate. I am also a little bitter about missing out on the freedom of choice ...

With nothing left to do, we pull out the old Depeche Mode Cd's, curl up into a fetal ball, and play "Somebody" on repeat for the next 6 hours. I want somebody to share Share the rest of my life Share my innermost thoughts Know my intimate details Someone who'll stand by my side And give me support ...

Do you have any unusual food thoughts, observations or stories? I once invited a crush over to my apartment for shark. I lived near the ocean at the time- so it was not a surprising meal to cook. Re: Missionaries can call home weekly now

I was in the break room at work the other day (almost everyone there is LDS) when one of the boss guys came in and said, "They're lowering the bar. They're coddling the missionaries. There's too many sissies these days." That's not an exact quote, even though I'm using quotation marks. I think that...

Mine had a few sentences indicating I would have bounties so plentiful that I would have enough to share; while hers mentioned nothing about wealth. What are you reading right now?

In homage to the "What are you drinking right now" thread. For pleasure/leisure I am currently reading the children's 5 book series titled Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. I am on book 4. This is definitely not my genre, but I have a tween and I am trying hard to connect with her. This has been a fairly ...

2 hour church has made me grumpier than 3 hour church. In the past- I could leave after sacrament and get my weekly grocery shopping done and a starbucks or something and make it back to the parking lot just in time for the end of 3rd hour. Now there is not enough time to fit in even a quick errand....

Re: Patriarch talk

My mom cultivated a level of worship toward our PB that made us all cling to them like holy scripture. Then I went to the MTC and roomed with a sister from my same stake. She had grown up in poverty and I came from a well to do family. Her appearance was generally unkempt and she was obese. Our PB w...
