Re: Need Advice - Potential Visit from a Seventy

“We are all just regular imperfect people” is my favorite response to get. They are admitting that they are nothing special without realizing it. It is telling that when they are backed into a corner, they argue that they are just normal everyday folk instead of chosen prophets of the lard. Which is...

Re: Coffee 101

Is the aeropress cool? I would like to give it a try, and I like espresso, but I am moving into coffee paraphernalia obsessed territory. Yes the aeropress is great - just got one for Christmas. Simple to use and gives you all the control you need. It makes a single cup at a time. It’s kind of espre...

Re: Endowment Video Posted on YouTube by Mormon.org

Love your "comment" NewLight. Hilarious that it took them 3 tries to disable comments. They literally cannot win in today's information age. I also love how the video talks about all the grand and wonderful things we "learn" in the temple, when there is literally nothing to learn in the temple that...

Re: If you could go back...

Nope, I wouldn’t go back. Back then I was never fully comfortable with having all the answers, I just couldn’t articulate why. Now I have the tools to see that the answers don’t make sense. Now I am much more free to believe and accept others as I see fit, which is an amazing feeling. Mormons think ...

Re: Home study church

I am all in favor of home study church. People will quickly get bored with the correlated stuff and find how interesting and shocking the real history is. Is the church really sure this is what they want their most faithful doing? Do you think people will get over their fears of “anti-Mormon lies” ...

You really can't go wrong with grinding the beans yourself, and either an Aeropress or pour-over.

More work, but definitely better than just pushing a button. (I'm an Aeropress person myself.)
Does the aeropress coffee taste more like an espresso/americano? Or is it still closer to a drip taste?

Re: Coffee

Yeah, I have been learning a lot about coffee brewing methods this past year. Now that it’s no longer forbidden I am intrigued for some reason. I don’t care about cheap coffees (gas station is never worth it), but I like good cafe coffee. Chik fil a has great iced coffee surprisingly as well. I will...

Coffee

I enjoy a good cup of coffee, and prefer it black or with a little cream. Since I didn’t drink coffee for the first 30 years of my life, I don’t NEED it for the caffeine boost, but I am learning to enjoy decent coffee. How do you heathens like your coffee? Or if you don’t, why not? To make coffee at...

Re: General Conference Predictions

I have heard people insist on the 2 hour block and allowing civil marriages before sealings. Rumor is that the 2 hour block may be sacrament meeting the first hour, then sunday school or RS/PH every other week. Won't make the church true though so meh.

Re: "If you can't feel the spirit you are the problem..."

It seems like these lessons are mostly about making members feel good about themselves. If they can dismiss all criticism with the wave of a hand, they don’t have to do the hard work of making sense of everything. As soon as members honestly ask themselves “is there a chance this isn’t true”, they s...

Re: Bill Reel Gets Ultimatum from Stake President

Yeah, Bill has basically been asking for this for a while now. I don’t blame him for making the church give him the excommunicated badge. It seems harder to maintain any inside credibility if you resign. It will be fun to hear how he brings up all the counter evidence in his ‘court of love’ (assumin...

Re: Are Mission Presidents feeling the heat?

This sounds like standard operating procedure for missions. Leadership (including area authorities, mission presidents, APs, zone leaders, district leaders etc.) always lay into the missionaries about perfect obedience. It is the greatest and longest guilt trip a person can experience. I have heard ...

Re: My list/summary of why the church can't be true...

I would add "Lack of modern mircales". If the same priesthood is here, just like biblical times, then we would see miracles today. I am thinking specifically about lack of healings. -Every conference story about giving a blessing ends in someone dying -Now, it is greater to have faith NOT to be heal...

Re: Loyalty or Faith?

Great faith is loyally holding to a specific worldview despite evidence to the contrary. The church teaches that faith = loyalty to the organization. Elder oaks demonstrated his great faith when he remained loyal to his leaders and accepted the priesthood ban, despite ‘not feeling confirmation that ...

I'm with Thoughtful on this one. My ex had an emotional affair and then later physical affairs. I think you should decide what you really want, because that is probably what you are going to end up doing. Wow, this is quite the leap you made MoPag. He said he cut it off. Not everyone is at dirtbagg...

Bob-O-Link Brazilian origin coffee from a fancy coffee house with a little cream and no sugar. I am still a coffee noob, but I have been getting better at drinking coffee without sugar. Fresh roasted coffee is definitely better than k-cups and other quick methods. If you are interested in getting in...

Anyone have good tips/ticks for posting on this forum?

Specifically, I am wondering how to quote a portion of someones response without bringing in the whole response then deleting manually (if that makes sense).
