Re: What happened to deism?
Once you understand that the universe proceeds along knowable and mostly known processes that also happen to explain the start up of the observable universe, it turns out the isn't a need for god to kickstart it. Indeed, there would be no place for him to have acted from and no time in which to have ...

How does one transfer or exchange glory? is it tokenized like money?
Is there a quanta of glory?
How is it even measured?

Re: Inoculating young children
This is the same way we were taught all the stories of the religion and accepted them without question. This isn't new. Book of Mormon, Bible, the Restoration, Translation of the Bom/Abraham and on and on. It's the prime method of operation of religion. Never mind what the archaeology shows about ...

It seems to me that the best of Jesus' words already existed from other thinkers before him.

Re: Visions
I'm with Thomas Payne. Until god speaks/shows the same to everyone equally, it's all just hearsay.
And a form of bigotry. Allegedly the Christian god is no respecter of persons so shouldn't play favorites with prophets and all that.
Visions? Part of the religious scam.

Re: Conflating the Church with Jesus Christ
I do agree that many churches including mormonism install themselves between or as equivalent to divinity. And that is not desirable from a self actualizing/fulfillment/autonomy perspective. Those perspectives tend to diminish authority and intervention from external sources too which is not in the ...

Re: Conflating the Church with Jesus Christ
I think the new testament uses the church as Christ's body language sufficient to construct a doctrinal equivalence argument.

Truth and facts need no apology.
This leaves apologists as deceivers.

Re: How do we know the Church has repented?
I don't expect church to repent. That is to expect a particular consistent framework that has never been in evidence. Rather it relies on divine command theory. It's never wrong in the moment. It can look to be in the wrong but that is from human perspective only. And DCT is not a path I desire to ...

Re: We were taught Heavenly Father is an exalted man and...
Yes we discussed his belief. He grew up Italian Catholic. But was essentially atheist. When he had a kid he wanted a church experience but not theology per se and so his family were unitarians ( I mispoke the first time). He described the practice as like being in a cathedral and the light of truth ...

Re: We were taught Heavenly Father is an exalted man and...
I was aware of those ideas before my belief broke.. I had a universalist friend. I personally don't see any point to it. It just seems like believing to believe for the sake of belief alone. I don't see any point or meanng in that. Certainly everyone is not wired the same and I am not apparently ...

Re: Saturday Sabbath
There could just as easily be 9 days per week with Uranus and Neptune added, Those aren't visible to the naked eye or things would surely have been different as you note. It could be any number of course. It's arbitrary. But our historical path in the west sources heavily from Rome. We used the ...

Re: Saturday Sabbath
I was looking into the origin of the 7 day week. There are two parallel developments. The Jewish with which we're all familiar. Like so much of the old testament, it's origin seems to be much later than the old testament itself would indicate. No earlier than the early roman period. https://www.ucl ...

Re: How to respond to believing spouse?
This is the child's event, not the parents. Do what it takes to serve the child's interest, even down to skipping baptism if so chosen. As to your part, if baptism is chosen, do what the church says you can as a non-believer. If that's nothing, then there's the answer. If that changes your child's ...

You're always asking for a source, evidence for our statements.
Your interpretation is conspiracy without evidence. And that's worthless. Your turn to put to our shut up.

My brother does his real estate speculation the same way. He loans to the spec builders with the land as his collateral. And a bonus at sale. He has no business as such. He does have a contract/loan form. And families often lend money to other members. Can you prove it wasn't a loan? You know those ...

Based on Joe Biden's financial statements he's made public, he doesn't own any businesses. For 2020, he seemed to have a more limited income stream. https://www.forbes.com/sites/michelatindera/2020/05/15/5-things-we-learned-from-joe-bidens-new-financial-disclosure/?sh=9b178e732d78 discusses incomes ...
