Re: Is this the Church’s version of The Body Issue?

Thanks for sending this along -- but my cynical take is that probably some "liberal" wrote/ edited this issue and will be released shortly after Nelson claims that he never approved of it. Also, look at the cover illustration -- some woman who is not Caucasian is wearing an immodest top and probably...

Congratulations on your new place ! That's great news that J. will stay in Holland indefinitely. I wish both of you much happiness and lots of fun. You are deserving of happiness after all the stress that you went through these past couple of years. Thanks for posting, and please continue to keep us...

Re: The Letter.

Thanks for the reminder not to quote any part of this thread -- good idea. I'm glad the "parental unit" did not reply with more guilt and shame. But, I'm wondering if the questions they asked are meant to be merely rhetorical and faith-promoting. For example, if they ask, "Have you thought about wha...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

Just wanted to add -- I'm so grateful for all of our regular posters who take time frequently to post new, interesting, thought-provoking topics for this board. I know it takes time to think of an idea, then write it down here and monitor the responses. You all write so well, with empathy, humor, an...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

I am not implying that politics can't be discussed here. However there is a civilized way of approaching it. When someone says "old-white men," yeah I find that offensive being an old-white man. What? Because I am old and white and a man my opinions and views are somehow negated? What if I were to ...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

Old, white guys are the spawn of Satan and if you don't bow down at the LGBTQ alter then you are an ignorant piece of crap not even worthy of the wasted air you breathe. What does this mean, and who here has ever attacked white people? I'm not seeing what you're seeing here. Could you give an examp...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

Right now, I think a lot is seasonal. It's summer and people are out doing stuff. Yard work, projects, vacations, etc. We are not inside as much where hopping on NOM is as good a way to spend time. Also, thinks have been pretty quiet on the LDS front lately. Nothing more than the normal level of BS...

Re: The Letter.

I'm sorry that all this guilt-tripping and shaming happened to you. If your parents are in their mid-eighties, then you are probably in your forties or fifties and well past the time that you should be treated as a guilty child. It may be time to reinforce the boundaries and let them know that this ...

Re: Heal Me

I broke my arm over the weekend in a horse riding accident. I would be game to have some NOM ex-mos give me a blessing (with anointing) to see if the ex-mo healing spirit is any more powerful than the Mormon spirit of healing. :( Sorry that happened to you ! I broke my ankle in a horse riding accid...

Re: The awkward masturbation talk

Me: I think it’s normal and natural to masturbate. You shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Her: uh, (awkward postering) I don’t know. Isn’t it a sin? The fact that the church is involved with this topic and insists on shaming its members or prying into their personal lives is one of the reasons why chu...

Re: Life gets better

So glad to read this good news. Positive experiences like yours help to support others who are going through tough times and hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately, the church is still indoctrinating 4 year olds by threatening them with never seeing their parents again. But ove...

Re: Morrissey and the Church

As a teen, I was a big fan of the Osmond family singers, who are about my age. I always thought Donny Osmond was the coolest, and that he was very "woke" and hip. ( LOL). As an adult, I even went to see Donny and Marie in Las Vegas, and they put on an excellent rock 'n roll revival show, full of mid...

Re: Monumental stupidity to faith promoting story

JTG, you're an excellent writer, and this is certainly a 21 century version of a handcart story. It's dangerous to get lost in the mountains, especially when the landscape is still covered with snow, with a faulty vehicle, with travelers have taken no emergency precautions. That's a recipe for disas...

Re: Exmo-Reddit, sometimes I just can’t handle it

But I am really tired of the the pictures of some booze bottle, the nasty tattoos, the weed, the same stupid meme repeated 4 times, and the McKenna Denson and NNN drama. reddit /r/exmormon is like binge watching a really trashy comedy-drama on Netflix. It still might be entertaining, but you know i...

If I find that special one, snd she desires to have children. That becomes a rather difficult talk, and the restoration is not guaranteed. Unquote Is it just me? Re: New Wendy Nelson video is giving me a serious case of the heebie jeebies

Wendy and the general RS President, General P president and YW president I would put all in the same category as women who use male power to keep other women in line Agreed. Sister Wendy, like all women of the church, is really nothing. But she fancies herself the co-prophet. There's no such thing ...

Re: Paris, well what to say (now with pics)

For some reason, I missed seeing these pics 2 years ago, so I'm glad that you brought up this thread from 2017 ! That is an example of supreme irony, that your relatives tried to save money by not driving on the toll road, so instead they received a speeding ticket that cost almost 3 times as much a...
