Re: Paris, well what to say (now with pics)

For some reason, I missed seeing these pics 2 years ago, so I'm glad that you brought up this thread from 2017 ! That is an example of supreme irony, that your relatives tried to save money by not driving on the toll road, so instead they received a speeding ticket that cost almost 3 times as much a...

Re: Going in for surgery

Moksha, best wishes to you ! My husband had cataract surgery last year, and he says that the difference is like night and day. He can see so much better now, and the fogginess of his vision has completely cleared up. Then 2 weeks ago, my husband's golf buddy had cataract surgery, and he says that hi...

Re: New blog post- "But My Experience Was So Good!"

Do you think it came off as accusing?
Nope ! Not at all. You actually gave them the benefit of the doubt far more than I would have. Your essay was very fair and objective, IMO. :)

Re: New blog post- "But My Experience Was So Good!"

Thank you for this very well-written, articulate essay ! I think you've composed an objective and comprehensive description of high-demand religious sects and organizations, along with providing the reasons that some believers are attracted to them. Why do these organizations work so well for some p...

Re: It's that time of year again!

Ha! It kills me how they think having a conference makes them seem all scholarly and academic. What a pitiful little group of wanna-be scholars. Including you, Mr. Smartest Apologist in the Universe DCP. How fun that they all get to dress up and play like they are academics. At least at Sunstone th...

Re: My 8 year olds faith crisis

It's great that you are discussing these issues with her and are alleviating her anxiety. Communication between parent and child is so important where the church is involved. I wish that my own parents had allowed me to have these open-ended, reflective conversations with them. I grew up thinking th...

Re: The day it all sinks in

Meilingkie, You are going through a lot of painful and stressful life changes all at once. You are trying to cope with all of it, plus you have a very busy work schedule. Many of us have been through the same situations. It is exhausting, depressing, and very stressful. I've been in the same place, ...

Re: Understanding TBMs

Agreed. Martyrdom is the very heart, soul, and core of Mormonism, IMO. Nothing sums it up better than the hymn "Praise to the Man". -- Wndr.

Re: Have any of you considered Catholicism?

Yep, they run into the same issue all religions run into for me. It doesn't matter how entertaining or interesting they are or how much social good they do, at the end of the day membership is supposed to be built upon buying into their truth claims. Truth claims I can't buy into based on what they...

Re: Have any of you considered Catholicism?

One of my issues with the Church is that my wife and daughters will never be treated as equal to men - Catholicism is no improvement in that regard. You also have the problem in Catholicism of leaders who claim to speak for God who contradict each other. It’s got many of the same hang ups as Mormon...

Re: Here's another LDS abuse case.

But those one-on-one interviews with members are absolutely priceless in terms of maintaining control of the membership. What better way to assert your authority over someone than to get them alone in a room and ask the most invasive, personal, boundary-obliterating questions possible? Psychologica...

Thanks heavens my daughters see it for what it is. Women of NOM, I formally apologize that for so long I supported an organization that treats you like that. I ought to have seen how wrong it is sooner. Thank you, Thank you !! :) On behalf of NOM women, your kind words are much appreciated. :) - Wn...

Re: Pornography is worse than adultery, apparently.

What I would LOVE to see from the church is a video about a guy who decided to stop looking at porn because it is disrespectful to women and instead focus on being even more respectful of his wife. Or a video about a couple developing a healthy sexual relationship, rather than a couple with a sick ...

Re: And sometimes it comes back, in weird ways

Gyms are getting really expensive ! I don't like it when they use those high pressure sales tactics, including inducing guilt and shame by saying, "Your body is your temple", etc. No one needs any more guilt and shame in this life. The church has provided enough guilt and shame to last an eternity.-...

Tremendous respect and support is due to this young person for his valor and bravery in coming out. I only hope the BY...

After we got home and we're changing out of our Sunday clothes, the Holy Ghost confirms that she was indeed wearing panties! OMG!!! She was wearing them OVER her garments!!
