Re: Estrangement
Sorry to hear that you are feeling estranged. That sucks. DW has gone to lengths to hide our disaffection from our family. However, there is still some suspicion, so we still get avoided a little. Our disaffection? ..we still get avoided..” Is the wife out now too? Holy cow! That is awesome. Yeah, ...

I have gotten far to cavalier about Sunday "worship." I have basically ghosted the church, and I think its gotten us noticed. Damn.

Re: Does anyone have a NHM explainer handy by chance?
There's no such thing as a bulls-eye — that's not how scholarship works. The Book of Mormon is fully consistent with its composition timeframe, c. 1829-30. The anachronisms make an ancient origin impossible. So "NHM" has zero explanatory value. One of the Books of the Bible is "Nahum" — the Bible i...

Re: Has your definition of right and wrong changed?
My ethics and politics have definitely changed quite a bit. Not necessarily switching sides on everything but seeing a lot more gray areas, and general absurdity about the arguments surround issues of politics and ethics.

There seems to be more thrashing about on the apologetic side of things than I have seen in the past. Is the pandemic hurting the numbers that badly?

Re: Ward Council is Closed (Minded)
With my DW, being vulnerable and talking about my insecurities, pain and anxiety about the church stuff was far more effective than actually talking about the church stuff. I can see how this might back-fire though, if this is perceived as "loosing the spirit" then the response may cement into one o...
