Re: Mike Lee
As the article said, Mike Lee needs an Intervention. MAGA has turned his brain to mush. Yeah, but in the long run I wonder if it will hurt him. There seem to be a lot of people out there who love this kind of hateful, spiteful message. That's why these people are in power in the first place. MAGA ...

Re: 1886 Polygamy Revelation published
This is fascinating. I first heard about the existence of this letter 20 or so years ago. Every time I came across any mention of it, there was always an apologist perched and ready to proclaim that it either didn't exist or that it was a fraud. I wonder what caused the church to release it now, and ...

There is definitely a pattern. I suspect it could also apply to autocratic leaders of many other high-demand organizations.

Looks like the parade attendance paled in comparison to the No Kings rallies.
It's really sad that someone died here in SLC, but I suppose it could have been much worse if the guy had unloaded into the crowd.

Re: Keeping up with Trump
I went to the U of U protest. I think there were more people there than at the dick-tater parade in D.C. Very peaceful. Healthy, clean-cut people with nice teeth who spoke in intelligent, conversational tones. Just 3 campus cops chilling in the shade on the terrace. Trump must be SO pissed that more ...

Re: What happened to deism?
Maybe it's the argument that if you believe in God enough to think he created the universe, why is it difficult for you to believe he's still around bt that your tiny human brain just isn't picking up on the evidence, or mistakenly expecting it to look different.

Joseph Smith and the Erie Canal
The recent Mormonish podcast about the role of the Erie Canal's role in the advent of Mormonism is very interesting: https://www.mormonishpodcast.org/episode/ep258-the-erie-canals-pivotal-influence-on-joseph-smith-and-mormonism There are two very significant, in my opinion, influences that they ...

Dan Mclellan's new book: The Bible Says So
Is anybody else reading Dan Mclellan's new book? He does such a good job explaining how the actual nature of the Bible is so drastically different from what most people believe it to be. The OT is primarily elite propaganda. Most of the laws were borrowed from other Ancient Near Eastern traditions ...

Something just ain't right when we have to fear that a "Christian" government would do the most harm to people.

Re: Martinsburg WV Sex Abuse Settlement Details Leaked
The Good Samaritan did not go chasing after the robbers to get them to repent and leave the man on the roadside to die. The Good Samaritan saw to the injured man. And he let God see to the sinner. The church does it the other way around. They only care about the repentance of the sinner and leave ...

This could not have happened
https://mormonfaq.com/files/2009/09/joseph-smith-translate-book-mormon.jpg Apart from the obvious reason, that it's mythology, this could not have happened. One of the few things we know about the gold plates it that they couldn't be seen by anyone (except in two specified and highly controlled ...

Re: Martinsburg WV Sex Abuse Settlement Details Leaked
This is truly disturbing. How many others are there that we'll never hear about? The stupid thing is that if the church had just obeyed the law and reported the first incident, and if they had focused on helping the victims and getting mental health attention for the perpetrator so much of this ...

The tariffs will eat up any profit my daughter's family business makes. They won't be able to pay the 120% tariffs and customers almost certainly won't pay twice the price for their product. I am mad. The tariffs will put them out of business. That's terrible, Deacon. This must be happening ...

Re: NOMference Spring 2025 Sunday afternoon!!!!
Hi everybody! I just popped in to leave this: :D I only watched Michael Strong's talk, because he's my neighbor's son. I was surprised he told the story about killing someone on his mission. It all turned out just dandy though, the church got him out of jail and gave the widow $25K. Money is always ...

Re: How many Catholic Testimonies have You Listened Too?
https://testimoniesofotherfaiths.blogspot.com/?m=1 This site has a number of testimonies written down by the faithful of many religions. Seems Mormons don't have a monopoly on"the spirit", whatever it is. That's a great resource. I read some of the Pentecostal testimonies and was struck by how much ...
