I knew a person once who believed that Jebus would return during a Saturday evening stake meeting because that’s where the true believers will be.
When, in reality, it's the last place he'd be likely to show up. Look for him at the homeless camp on Rio Grande.

Re: Saturday evening General Conference is canceled

Stake priesthood leadership meetings are equally pointless and redundant. The last time I went to one they started by making a big deal about how we were there to receive special instruction that could only be obtained through this exclusive meeting. Then they had a bunch of rambling generic talks a...

Spiritual experience at Longhorn Steakhouse

Mrs. Hagoth and I had our first experience dining in an indoor restaurant filled with people since the pandemic started . And my first steak. About 2 bites into the steak I "felt the spirit" to a degree that, if I had ever felt it while praying about the Book of Mormon, would have secured my testimo...

Re: Pray for Rain in Utah

I like the way Cox defined people as either being supportive of LGBTQ rights OR believing in God. It really reveals the Mormon thinking under the hood. There must always be good guys and bad guys.

...trying to get in the minds of fake characters and remember the details of a fictional history. I love it when the Sunday school discussion starts really digging into the exact choice of words spoken by Adam, or the Brother of Jared, or Jesus, or whoever, as if someone actually said those exact w...

Re: Saturday evening General Conference is canceled

Now that everyone can see what goes on in General Priesthood meeting it is obvious that it's just another 2 hours of people saying the same damn stuff they already said for 4 hours that same day.

Re: One Month Down. 59 To Go.

Thanks for taking the time to give us an update! I think a church-wide policy of only calling post-faith-crisis bishops would make everything better for everyone.

Re: Witness film. Got your tickets?

It will be just like God's Not Dead, except with a much smaller and more niche audience. It will mostly be seen by people who are told, like the people who read the FAIR newsletter, "you need to support this." I predict a massive flop. It won't be like Meet the People Formerly Known as Mormons, whe...

The parallels he found in the Abinidi/Noah/Alma story really made me do this:

Witness film. Got your tickets?

This month's FAIR newlsetter subject is, "The Witness film needs our support."

This thing is opening in 350 theaters. Who's paying for it? I am far from blown away by the trailer.

For those who cannot get enough of Book of Mormon stuff, here is an interesting thread by a poster named Shulem that addresses an interesting relationship between the Book of Mormon and the Bible. https://discussmormonism.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=857 Very interesting. I was pretty knocked over by th...

Re: Beware of Murder Among the Mormons!

I think there's a huge difference between the things you describe and...IDK being a lying sociopath willing to murder people for money while also embarrassing the church. Mark Hoffman misled a lot of people including his wife. It seems like a perception checking statement could be helpful, "It soun...

Sometimes we can only truly appreciate the roller coaster ride in retrospect, right? I'm so glad you found a life situation that works for you. Of all of the various spiritual experiences I have had in my life the only one that involved the manifestation of a personal being came in the form of a fem...

Re: Adam/God/Michael/Whathaveya

Do we know the extent of the Council of Gods? I imagine the First Presidency has the full list of this pantheon and the rest of us must guess the rest of the Council members. Here goes: Odin, Zeus, Athena, Manitou, Kal-El of Krypton, Buddha, Ganesha... Hey, can you think of any others? Geez, Moksha...

The way I understand it is that it Goes Elohim->Jehovah->Michael/Adam->Jesus.
We're just THIS close to the point where it all starts to make sense:

Cthulhu>Elohim->Jehovah->Michael/Adam->Jesus.
