I would love to see this and where it goes. Two dead men’s words against each other.

Re: Grant Palmer's non-believing GA revealed

I hope John Dehlin gets his self-centered ass sued for this. This guy has a doctorate in psychology. Anyone with this position and even a minute amount of professionalism and ethics would never do this. I think JD realizes the Open Stories Foundation might no longer be sustainable. Especially with ...

Re: What does your avatar mean?

Just me when I had more hair and my dog was a pup. Still in the Church, no kids, no money (but no overhead), a motorcycle, warm hot tub. Life was good.

I probably need to update my avatar with an updated photo. I am happy still, but more real, with a lot more experience.

Re: Navy Chaplin

I understand. It is a struggle when you know how the sausage is made. I like to ask really firm believers (someone like the Chaplain) how they know their church/belief is true (ala. Anthony Magnabosco). I try to be sincere and really listen, it is always interesting to hear the different responses I...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

A large pack of macaroni and cheese. I also have two happy dogs IF needed for more protein ;) I have a bunch of R95 masks from when I spray paint things. Lots of hand sanitizer because I am surrounded by gross teenage students all day long. This years group is super touchy, lots of hand holding and ...

Re: Navy Chaplin

That makes sense to me.

I wonder if he is noticing the same trends in other Christian denominations?

My view from the back of the chapel in my ward and the non-denominational church by my house, it is a sea of gray.

Cool. Congratulations.

Hope you find meaning in your worship. I don’t think I could. I did look over your blog post, sounds like it was a good journey for you. Just don’t post it on the NOM of Catholics website ;)

Re: do I want to catch the monkey?

Wow. This brought up feelings. My shelf crashed years before My wife’s. Her heavy shelf item wasn’t about the Church being true. It was about God in general. Very different than mine. She then moved onto the Church and is surgically dissecting it. She is now resigned. She decided one day, and just d...

Netflix Messiah

I am about 3/4 the way through the Messiah on Netflix. I find it very compelling and well shot and acted. It is produced by Mark Burnett (big time evangelical), but so far quite gripping.

Re: Why did Joseph Smith return from Iowa to go to Carthage?

I think the story is that the note basically said that the members in Nauvoo were saying they felt abandoned that he left that defenseless and that they thought he was a coward. I don't know how reliable sources are on that - I need to see if I can find those for you. I've heard the same. I believe...

Re: Extended Family Relationships

My wife was told on a very public Facebook post by my SIL. That she has a bad feeling in our home and that it is because we are now lacking the spirit. She also let me wife know she was disappointed in how we are raising our adopted daughter with a severe mood disorder. “You guys are just too strict...

I stand all amazed at the funds Nelson earned from me Confused at the interest and dividends kept from me I tremble to know that no funds were tax quantified That for me a tither I paid them and sacrificed Oh, it is profitable that Nelson cares for me Enough to tithe from me! I wonder if your request would get more traction now.

My BIL who is very hardcore TBM mentioned If he is ever made BP, knowing about the 100 billion, he will help as many people as he can financially or with other needs (medical etc.)

I don’t think you are alone. I feel the “spirit” more by watching Steve Hart’s segment on CBS Sunday Morning than I ever did in Sacrament meeting.

Re: Just Be Kind for a Month

I would hope the goal is always kindness and patience for our spouse. Could you imagine someone getting up, “i decided to be a dick for a month to my husband/wife to see what would happen...”

I do agree it is weird to think about things from the other side of the coin.

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint

What has me confused is why the church needs billions at the second coming? Why not feed the hungry now? Clean water? Vaccinate the entire world? But that’s not the way corporations work. Jesus will send a massive text message letting everyone know he is cashing out his options. Get that luxury jet...

Re: Whistle Blower Files IRS Complaint

I bet it is all “technically” legal and just skirts on the right side of the line. The Church is pretty damn smart with money. They hired the best accounting firms to diversify (hide) funds. So even if you knock down one wall, there are a dozen others you have to take out. This is another example wh...

Re: My son is posting anti information on FB now.

It's happened. My other son posted a comment that basically said pres. Oaks is a d i c k, with a emoji of a zucchini. I can't bear this, I'm sorry. I texted the son that is anti and asked him to take it down, but if he didn't I would understand. I feel helpless now. My kids don't mince words and th...
