Re: Russell M. Nelson Birthday Bash

I was working in the lab, late one night When my eyes beheld a spiritual sight For my leader from his slab, began to rise And suddenly to my surprise He did the bash, he did the birthday bash The birthday bash, it was an idolatrous smash He did the bash, it caught on in a flash He did the bash, he d...

Re: Are youth really leaving?

The fact they even considered regularly interviewing 8-11yo shows something, they are scared. My teens both know tons of active lds kids that are in only to keep parents off their back. Parents are extremely coercive about their kids behavioral devoutness. The teens who are in love iced coffee, dre...

If the church trains them then the church is responsible for what they say.

Ask the church lawyers, they know.

Re: Are youth really leaving?

Gen Z is big on things like social responsibilty, and absolutely have no room in their lives for exclusion of "others". I teach HS in the Boise area and have had openly gay, trans and transistioning students, they recieve nothing but love from the student body. On the other hand LDS kids no longer s...

Fan of letting it happen naturally. When asked a simple "I found that the church wasn't the path for me."

Re: Next "Big Thing"

As society becomes more accepting of different folks the church has to decide which of those folks it needs the most. I had a History teacher say to me once, "Women are the vessels of culture" meaning that men will bend to women's wishes. Anecdotally more men join the church for women than women joi...

Drumroll.... The next big, mind bending, "oh my heck" change is: Polyandry. Not the living kind, the dead kind. Think a moment--women ain't happy about a lot of things but short of ordaining women what can you do? Well, as Special Ops used to say: "Seal 'em all and let God sort 'em out"...or somethi...

Re: Is the church really free falling ?

I would offer this idea, the problem is bigger than contraction the problem is becoming irrelevant, not being important, not having pull, or influence or whatever you want to call it. The church is just becoming another special interest group that can be ignored, take medical pot for example in Utah...

I've also heard they are going to be installing these round tubes about 25 ft high but that nobody knows why. Speculation is that they are building teleportation tubes based on the spirit's proactive discernment. Sorta like the elevator shafts. I heard they had bought all the old Star Trek transpor...
