Re: TBM's and LGT

Remember "the book of Mormon isn't a historical document". It's the new narrative.

Re: Ministering, YM, EQ, and the Bishopric

Curiously the Bishop is the President of the Aaronic Priesthood and that's why he has 1st and 2nd assistants who come from the Priest's quorum. As long as 20 years ago when I was EQP I was taught that I was "the Bishop" except for worthiness issues to the Elders in the ward. I had to go to families ...

Re: Shifting towards gay acceptance?

A true schism may not be possible because all Church assets are under the control of 1 person so any large group leaving could be penniless...

Re: Shifting towards gay acceptance?

Denver Snuffer is leading a schism right now, the reason I consider it a schism is they have their own version of the standard works (canon). https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/article171025577.html They have enough serious organization, "conferences", unique and revised doctrine that they ar...

Re: Missed Tithing Settlement

The idea that someone in SLC is going to read the Bishop's report and say "ah-ha!" Is an example of how fearful you are of what is a voluntary organization. Nobody anywhere cares but you. The Bishop may have an "oh poop, missed one" moment but that's about it. Nobody is losing their recommend over t...

Re: Shifting towards gay acceptance?

In my lifetime: 1978 Priesthood ban lifted. No schism. (Schism defined as the formal separation of a Church into two Churches or the secession of a group owing to doctrinal and other differences) 1990 Huge changes to temple endowment includes penalties removed, language changes like removing "Popes ...

Re: Shifting towards gay acceptance?

Also in the lexicon of the church "LGBTQ" is now far more commonly used than SSA (Same Sex Attracted).

*** Just used LDSliving with its own search tool:
LGBTQ gets 50+ returns
Same Sex Attracted = 0
Same Sex Attraction = 0

That's saying something.

Re: Shifting towards gay acceptance?

The trick isn't finding an over 40 year that's got issues with gay marriage -- it's finding an under 30. This will be change from the ground up. As mentioned most LDS and LDS related folks keep it off the radar...but once Cosmo is out you can't hide him again. The new handbook has a very interesting...

Does Satan have the power to create?

Can Satan control objects on the earthly plane?

Excerpt from "Tithing a Stairway to Heaven" There's a woman who's sure All that glitters is good And she's tithing a stairway to heaven When she gets there she knows If the doors are all closed With a token she can get what she came for Oh oh oh oh and she's tithing a stairway to heaven There's a si...

Re: Anti-miracles

I was always taught that Satan is powerless in this world--just as he cannot create, he cannot force. So I can see the idea that Satan is busy planting bad ideas in folks but really--why did that chunk of concrete fall off that building? And right when a kind, generous person is passing beneath? One...

[Miracles are only seeable to the faithful and provable to no one else. Christ even raised people from the dead yet the jews crucified him. Re: The Reason Miracles are Dead in the LDS Church

In an age of instant information/serious skepticism you, in a sense, have to put up or shut up. The poor mother's faith is laudable but can you functionally demand a miracle?

The Reason Miracles are Dead in the LDS Church

The problem with Miracles is in an information age it's impossible to have them and not "PROVE IT".
