Re: House Church lessons

Honest question because I don't know. Is there some kind of directive that Sacrament meeting lessons be taken from the CFM* manual? I guess I thought CFM was for Sunday School. Since we don't do Sunday School, we have a sacrament meeting discussion, then no need to follow CFM? **As an aside this ma...

Re: House Church lessons

I can relate to this post. My wife was in tears the other night because she felt like home church wasn’t being taken serious enough by the family. The lessons never go well, the kids talk back or ask questions that derail the come follow me manual. I asked her what she expected the lessons to be lik...

The God that Separates

The God that separates Wine from the lips of man Panties from the hips of woman Thoughts from the minds of children The God that separates Money from our messy existence Based on our choice in the pre-existence Shut up, listen, don’t offer resistance The God that separates Happiness from our soul Do...

Inability to trust and feeling nostalgic

Since my awakening, I’ve become distrustful of so many things. My brain thinks the mechanic is going to rip me off, the yard guy is cutting corners, the United Way campaign is a fraud, my cholesterol isn’t that bad, and watching the news is all bias. I’m probably right on the surface of some of thes...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Seems there is an outbreak at BYU.

An extended family member has tested positive.

Loss of taste and smell seems to be the only symptom so far. Rumor has it students are not taking it serious and still going out after testing positive.

One day, she's going to find out about garments, and that will be a whole new conversation. lol ...and this is the underwear your great great granny wore, and your great granny, and grandma Betty, and I wore this too after getting married in the temple! I changed my religious mind honey, so that YO...

Re: Rasband's Face-to-Face

Heart Sell™️ I find it telling they discussed this up front. Shows they have an issue with the youth who must be removing their records when they turn 18 or head off to college. The church needs to be overhauled to stay relevant in 2020. They’ve become the Cleveland Browns trying to run the same pla...

Sometimes the church does something right.

Still a long way to go to dismantle and remove the guilt machine.

In this COVID-19 induced streaming marathon, My wife and I are 2/3rd the way through "The Americans" on Amazon Prime. For those not familiar with it, it is a cold war spy drama set in 1980's Washing DC, with a pair of KGB spies living as "Americans" in suburban Virginia, being parents during the da...

Re: Is anyone talking about the new proclamation?

Wasn’t it just a rehashed version of the First Vision and Restoration? Seems less proclaiming and more repeating the same origin narrative. From my TMB family perspective, the Pandemic didn't really get in the way of Nelson. Nelson is the super prophet that predicted and prepared the church for the ...

Re: SLC will contact your nonmember spouse

I see both sides. Tracking members to keep records aligned with ward boundaries is super obnoxious for both parties. I remember having to track people down who showed up on the records but had no intent to ever visit their local ward. I hated doing that knowing full well these people wanted nothing ...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

Can I give you an outsider's view of what's going on with my neighbour to the south? I simply can't understand it. I have no idea how a pandemic can become politicized. It's a virus, for God's sake. It's not a political tool. How do you blame a country for a virus, just because it started there? Ch...

Re: What are you doing to protect your family against the virus?

I got a check in the mail that said in big, bold letters that it was from Donald Trump. I didn't ask for it, I didn't need it, and I didn't want it. This was purely political. It's not wasting money to help struggling people survive, but it sure as hell is a waste of money using it to buy votes. I ...

Re: Prayer Why Bother

I think meditative prayer can be relaxing. When Winston Rumfoord established the Church of God the Utterly Indifferent , I think he meant that God did not want you to ask him for anything. Of course, that is only one possible interpretation. What else are you supposed to do when your Martian invasi...

Re: Prayer Why Bother

I guess I’m too lazy to really care to have an opinion on prayer. I can look back at 3 experiences where I could attribute prayer to a positive result. 1. On my mission, the first month in my first area nothing was happening. The area book had been worked to death. Nobody was interested. It was very...

One more thing.... Perhaps writing it out for her you could start with a diagram or flowchart. Have Joseph Smith (the hub) in the center of a circle, then have lines out to various items like JS character, BOM, Eternal Marriage, priesthood, Early church, etc. Have the items closest to JS be general...

I have a friend who bought a few AR-15’s right before Obama was president on the fear noted above. He held and sold a few of them but not really the gold at the end of the rainbow he had in mind.
