Re: Were we all traumatized by being Mormon?

[But now my wife is out and it looks like all of our children are out. Reading this puts a smile on my face. I hope therapy brings the healing and personal growth you and your family needs. It’s a shame that getting out even causes heartache and anxiety. That’s when you know you were raised in a sy...

Re: Are there no GenCon rumor this time around?

At this point any thing that should be changed probably will not change. Therefore the only rumors I’m hearing are guesses on how many new temples will be announced. I think conference will be: 1. Stay the course 2. Attend the temples often if not weekly. 3. Follow the prophet 4. The mirage of perso...

Pick your apologetic response:

Satan works hard to prevent the church from spreading across the world.

The last days will be a challenge.

Re: Were we all traumatized by being Mormon?

I would suggest we’ve all been traumatized by religion in general and not perhaps just because we were raised Mormon. How is your therapist helping you? Curious to understand their approach and ways to overcome these thoughts. I think I need to see a therapist. I still have anger and anxiety issues ...

Re: David Bednar

I’m guessing the SEO algorithms are at play. If someone in Utah was searching, the first 28 pages would all reference his amazing career as an LDS administrator. I just searched and here’s the results I get. 1. Husband of Susan Bednar 2. Erotic Mormon Stories podcast with David Bednar 3. Pickle reci...

Re: Sober October Mormon edition

Arggggg! My plans may already be ruined. I was just reminded that this weekend we are on a short road trip with the wife’s parents leaving Friday and returning Saturday. They are expecting to listen to Saturday general conference sessions in the car on the way home! Noooooooooo! 1. I’m either going ...

Sober October Mormon edition

I’m going to propose a Sober October Mormon edition. For the month of October, I will refrain from everything Mormon related. This includes: All forms of Mormon church activity. All forms of Exmormon internet activity. I understand this will be nearly impossible so I’ve made a few exceptions. Genera...

Super Mormons

Sister Ryder was listening to a podcast and the woman was talking about her and her husbands struggle with fertility. She shared that her husband essentially didn’t have any viable sperm to impregnate her so they discussed using a sperm donor which was highly frowned upon by her super righteous Morm...

Re: "Noteworthy" loses director to new policy.

Here’s Scott’s words for context. Appears he told them he wasn’t going to renew his temple recommend and asked to be hired as a non-member. https://preview.redd.it/2f4sn56boho91.png?width=1079&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a6d196fbc89d1131c905a01edaba978628b6c2e https://preview.redd.it/343w2k9boho91.png?w...

Re: Oaks vows BYU will not be part of "the World"

Can someone explain the “become more like BYU-I” comment that keeps appearing? Does that mean a “ second class junior college” or non sophisticated college of barely higher education? I went to Ricks College back in the day and that’s how Ricks was perceived. I thought renaming and building out to a...

Re: Mormon Stories Question

I stopped watching after season 3 so I don’t know. 😂 My guess is money and compensation don’t follow a decent return on time investment. Perhaps like everything Mormon related, theirs a time factor in play to keep everyone’s attention span. It’s almost like a MLM. You need a constant set of new disb...

Re: Oaks vows BYU will not be part of "the World"

Ok, read the article. I love how he injects obedience into the first great commandment. I’d argue Mormons put obedience to the brethren as the first great commandment. Then to love God. Love thy neighbor comes with too many exceptions. Gay, unbelievers, women, Catholics, etc. Oaks said that love thy...

A sister getting a mission call while still in high school? Either she got held back a few years or her dad didn't like her boyfriend at the time and used a mission as reason to break the two up.
Her dad WAS the mission president!

Re: Help declining a sacrament meeting talk

I haven’t spoke in church for over 10 years.

My go to excuse is:

I’m out of town.

Then to ensure I’m not lying, we take the Sunday off and do something else.

Gets you out of speaking and a week off from church!

Re: How do you stay sane and grounded?

Detaching from Mormonism. The saying 'not my Circus not my monkeys' is the idea here. You don't have to own the problems of Mormonism, they're not yours. You don't have to fix them. Indeed you don't want to fix them. They belong to somebody else. If they ask you for your opinion then you can offer ...
