Re: You know you're in a cult when...

You know you’re in a cult when:

1. The founder starts having sex with members of the congregation.

2. The founder relies on revelations to hide it.

I believe credit for the idea goes to Stuck...

You know you’re in a cult when LulaRoe models their business practice after your religion.

Re: Any advice for those contemplating divorce?

Any suggestions? I baptized all of my kids. They changed the rules on the confirmation to require a temple recommend a few months before my last kid was baptized. The bishop mentioned this to me but I already knew from reading about the change online. He asked what I wanted to do and suggested a qu...

Re: Mormon Stories about Chad Daybell

I didn’t listen nor do I plan to.

Just wanted to point out what a great job the media has done to ignore/remove the church from this story. Watching this unfold, they’ve distance the Daybell’s from Mormonism and used the “dooms day cult” label instead.

Re: What are you watching right now?

Watched episode 1 of the Squid Games. My daughter insisted we watch in Korean to avoid cartoonish dubbing. Thank goodness I can still easily read the subtitles. Not sure if the other 8 episodes become less cartoonish or you just get used to it. We watched the whole show now and weren’t distracted b...

Re: Identity

Stealth, you and the wife will figure it out. I throw out the obvious cautionary tale to find your new identities together. Use every minute of your new found time to build your relationship. I’ve seen too many online stories of couples that both get out only to split up later. Steve and MaryAnn Ben...

Re: Which doubts to doubt?

The "doubt your doubts" talk always bothered me because as a convert I was literally told to doubt what I was raised to believe in order to convert to the church. Then as a member I was told that I should not use that same process to evaluate their claims. It's a problem the moment you think about ...

Re: Which doubts to doubt?

We should doubt the thoughts that interfere with following the true order of priesthood authority and doctrines of the church. 1: The current living prophet 2. The first presidency 3. The quorum of the twelve apostles 4. Correlated doctrine 5. Any policy or practice determined to be relevant by the ...

Looks like the Cody Wyoming temple won’t be built after all....

Rumor has it that the Cody City Council didn’t want TWO space ship sized buildings built within city limits so Yeezy’s permit was pulled. The outraged artist, entrepreneur, and rap-elator stormed out of the city council meeting mumble rapping the lyrics to his hit song FML and yelling (inaudible) ab...

Re: The Progressive Mormon Debate

I'm kind of tired of it all now. Tired of not fitting in with other people's expectations of what a mormon should be and act, AND what a non-believing mormon should be and act. Tired of people who don't share my last name telling me how to live my life, that they know better that I do what I should...

Re: Has Elder Uchtdorf lost his Mojo?

(Snip) The last few years before Monson died, the spark had gone out of him. His talks became flat, then they got repetitive and even flatter to the point he was almost talking in a monotone. The spark went out my mother about two years before her death, and I have seen other people get listless an...

Re: Bednar debacle

Did anyone see the Bednar Video where he pulled that kid out of the audience and demonstrated how reading scriptures and obeying commandments keeps you from “crossing the line”. He used the rug as the analogy and walked the kid up and down the rug. Then leaned on him holding him tight, telling him t...

Re: Has Elder Uchtdorf lost his Mojo?

I agree with stuck. He’s been demoted and pushed to get back in line. The sad thing is you can hear the apathy in his talks. Read his talk with a few minor changes: it can be applied to anything. Think of it as your personal, daily gym routine. On our journey as pilgrims on the path of glory, we kno...

Probably not the same spiritual experience you had crying at a concert.

But nonetheless I’m crying with laughter and confusion all at the same time.

Re: What are you watching right now?

Squid Games! Man the first 30 minutes of episode 1 were so cheesy and bad English dubbed over Korean. But powered through and now hooked. Red light green light was a fun kids game. Not so sure now. It reminded me of the few times I went on splits with the Vietnamese speaking elders and they would g...
