Saturday Night Dream

I had somewhat of a nightmare Saturday night. I dreamt that wife and I were out of town and we went to an LDS sacrament meeting. We decided that after sacrament we were going to head out, to whatever we were doing there in New Jersey. So, I go to leave the building and can’t find my way out. I asked...

I like your avatar. I saw it a few times on some political forums.

It does show how too often we may feel when discussing religion and politics.

Yes, I had one of those. Until I got into the Utah State Engineering program and they required that I use the HP48 GX, which is now my favorite calculator. In fact, I have the Android app for the HP48 (although it looks massive on my tablet): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ab.x48...

RR, sorry I don't have advice for you, I haven't experienced this. I think others have provided some great counsel.

Just wanted to say that I hope it all goes well for both of you.

Re: Explain your avatar choice

I like science. Physics is my favorite school subject and I've studied it more as I've transitioned in my Mormon beliefs.

I'm a very positive person and that has helped me through my faith transition.

These two together in my avatar seemed to fit me well.

My NOM 2.0 Intro

Hi everyone! I’m a seventh-generation Mormon, BIC, served a faithful 2-year mission in England, married in the temple, five children (3 boys – 19, 17, 9 and 2 girls – 16, 12). I come from Mormon pioneer stock on both sides. One of my ancestors was one of the teenage young men from the relief party t...

Re: Gob Doesn’t Love Me and Earth is an Insignificant Ball Travelling through Cold, Dark Space

Hey Shawn! Welcome to NOM! I have read some of your posts on Staylds, so I know a little about your background. I feel for you and the situation you are in, our situations are similar. I have a TBM wife that doesn’t understand why my faith has transitioned. I want to make the most of this life if th...

Re: My Beta Operating System

My first question would be, can I still play Portal 2 on your operating system ;) The whole time I was reading the first part of your message, I was thinking, "why the heck are you trying to develop your own operating system, what good will it do you, you won't be able to run anything on it, and it...

Re: My Beta Operating System

If I do ever need some programming help, I'll be sure to let you know. :) Your main problem is that the LDS church does not want you to modify their source code. Joseph Smith did that job long ago and you are not recommended to examine the code, let alone commit changes, or heaven forbid , fork the...

I knew there was a reason I liked you. I'm an engineer too. Shirt pockets! You gotta protect em! You gotta. And if you are a true engineer you can tell my age by the fact that my favorite calculator is a TI-85. ;-) Yes, I had one of those. Until I got into the Utah State Engineering program and the...

Re: IOT's "Creep" Remix

I too had an emotional response to this remix. I thought it was extremely powerful and showed some light on a difficult policy/issue. I had this play near the end of my run this morning. Despite it being a slow song, I picked up the pace and let off some steam. Running angry, especially during the ...

Re: a long journey still underway

What a life you've lived. I'm so sorry about your son. I can't imagine. Our oldest son returned early from his mission last year, suffering from depression. DW was distraught, still is but maybe on a reduced level. I'm also an introvert and an avid reader. Here's a good book suggestion: https://www....

Re: What kind of list am I on?

I would imagine you were put on the list of people or families that needed help in ward council. In our ward council meetings, we discuss those in the ward that we think are "struggling" and might need more help. I try to focus on the ones that have lost a loved one, or have health issues, but there...

Re: DW Digging In Somewhat

Go to church, support here, but above all. Make it clear for her you love her because of her being. It´s a woman´s biggest fear. A Templemarriage almost by definition is abusive in this way. You leave the Church means you walk out of a templemarriage at the same time. It´s the only marriage she pro...
