Re: Keeping up with Trump

I can't speak for all of the fourth estate, but what I'm taking about are pictures taken by multiple sources including the people involved. I know many were peaceful protesters, but many broke the law. MANY. Are you suggesting that many people did not enter the capital and vandalize? Are you trying ...

Re: Major Depression Diagnosis by State

Thanks for sharing, BishG. Very interesting. I think that long winters and seasonal affective disorder might help explain the higher levels of reported depression in Maine and Minnesota, as well as the somewhat higher depression in the more northern states. Perhaps the inversion issues in Utah also ...

Re: Elder's Quorum Service Coordinator? (Calling offered to me)

Having been on that side of the meeting room in those bishopric meetings, it's true, or at least it was in my experience, that the general mentality and belief is that EVERYONE needs a calling. We tried to run it through a "family filter" and I learned to leave an opening for someone to turn a calli...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

Please tell the families of the dead capital police that they didn't really die defending the capital. I don't care if you don't call it a coup, it was an illegal, and it lead to several deaths, and it was a huge black mark on the country, and it was in part instigated by Trump and his false narrati...

Re: If I were an atheist

Well.. I know a lot of things. But I don't know more than I know. At least i don't think i do. But, you know... there's the known knowns, and the unknown knowns, or is it the known unknowns? And then the unknown unknowns! Shiver. I get the heebie jeebies when i try to quote from the book of Rumsfeld...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

[/quote] I had heard through my committee that a law suit in Maricopa had Invalidated a bunch of fraudulent votes. This doesn't overturn the election but it opens the way. But I think most people really don't want it overturned but we do want the fraud exposed. When I said overturned, I meant that e...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

One reason you're hard to believe, Saidnobody, and why it's hard to take you seriously is that among all the stuff you say, there are things probably each of us know are blatantly untrue. For instance, you said previously that AZ had already overturned the election results. That's just completely n...

Re: Supporting our own

Jfro18 you've done an amazing job with this and it's enjoyable to watch/ listen. I've learned a thing or two, and I thought I knew just about everything about this stuff. Thank you. You talk rather fast. That's ok.. not a condemnation or suggestion to slow down, just an observation. You obviously pr...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

It feels especially tragic to watch the massive promulgation of disinformation unfold in real time. We're no longer living in the information age, but the marketing attention age. Our attention is a product, and it's easy to be fooled by things we kind of want to believe anyway. Maybe it's easier fo...

Re: Elder's Quorum Service Coordinator? (Calling offered to me)

Congrats for turning down an offer in a volunteer church. Maybe counter with an offer to help serve on the committee at times. People often forget that they can turn down callings. I've heard people brag that they've never turned down a calling, and I've seen the same people do piss poor jobs in the...

Re: Tea Questions

I missioned in Taiwan many years ago and the question of green tea being acceptable or not differed depending on the mission president. I never wanted to drink it because it was served very hot, and it was typically already hot and humid in that country. It tasted like hot water with a slight tea-is...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

Like bearing a testimony, repeating something over and over again does not make it true. I wrote out a three paragraph reply but lost it. Just as well. Just like Clinton lost in 2016, and Trump lost in 2020. It's gone. Let it go. No contested states were overturned. Especially not Arizona. Saying it...

Re: What was the actual reason for the Mountain Meadows Massacre?

The wagon train originated in Arkansas, and the Saints had received word that Parley P. Pratt had been killed by a jealous husband from San Francisco who had tracked Pratt and the purloined wife all the way to Arkansas. Brigham wanted vengeance on someone and when the word came that a wagon train f...

Re: Keeping up with Trump

I usually agree with everything you say, Alas, but I disagree with your assessment regarding the etiology and prognosis of NPD or any of the other personality disorders. It's a disorder. There IS something malfunctioning, which is one reason why it's identified as a disorder. What is malfunctioning ...
