Re: The Church of Climate Change in these Latter Days

DB, when I left out meat in the consensus, I didn't mean to suggest that it's bad. I like to eat meat and I believe it's good for me. But not all agree. Some folks do not eat meat and are very healthy. There are a LOT of professional athletes on vegan diets. But, most nutritionists feel that meat is...

Re: The Church of Climate Change in these Latter Days

Sounds like someone is selling Pruvit products and gets all their health information from a couple sources. Sounds like someone also assumes the rest of us are fat and can't see our own euphemisms. I can see my euphemism very well, from frightened turtle to screaming dragon. I'm saying most health e...

I'm just wondering what are the current Vegas odds on Uchtdorf within 20. Is there an over/under?

Re: The Church of Climate Change in these Latter Days

Yee-haw what a wild discussion. Scientists and doctors and nutritionists have been wrong? Well, of course. Science is an ever expanding body of knowledge and we can't be content where we are; we need to keep learning, so replicate the study that I did and see what you discover. Let's say we tell eve...

Re: Setting & maintaining a temple boundary

I do wonder how often today various bishops and stake leaders feel the need to dig into recommend answers or to ask their own questions. This was a long time ago, but I had a friend who was engaged to get married in the temple, but the SP said he would not grant his fiancé a recommend unless they b...

Re: Thom Harrison and "Visions of Glory"

I started watching the podcast on this. I'm really really grateful this book didn't come out when I was in my early 20s. I might have bought a bit of that kool-aid. Why? Because I was special, by God. My patriarchal blessing confirmed it. I might even be a big player during the resurrection process...

Re: Testimonies and Idol Worship

Was it Elder Cook who said that the only way to gain a testimony was in the sharing of it? I believe it's true that if you repeat something long and often enough, you start to feel more of a veracity in the thing you're spouting. It doesn't really matter if it's true. You keep saying it's true so it...

Re: The Church of Climate Change in these Latter Days

Wait, we can pay to sterilize rednecks in West Virginia? Is there a go fund me for that? I don't think we'd have a shortage of people lining up to help, but the rednecks in West Virginia might have something to say about that. I don't think you'd want to threaten to sterilize the hillbillies, though...

Imagine it.. a capella hymns that don't stay on tune. Little kids running all over the place. Teenagers talking. Babies crying. 1st counselor in the bishopric running to Circle K for sacrament bread because deacon Trevor's mom didn't remind him to bring the loaf to church.

Re: Elder Ballard has died

I would love to see the women of the church get together for a Lysistrata kind of moment. Either withholding sex, like in the play, or just refusing to show up on Sunday until things change, either would be equally devastating to the patriarchy. I love it! "A Sunday without the Sisters" Sounds like...

Re: What's up with the "countenance" concept?

There is something to be said regarding countenances. When a person sins their behavior changes, or rather their spirit that moves them was distracted elsewhere since the last time you observed them so they are not interacting with you on the same conscious level. I think most would at least kinda ...

Re: Lester Bush, author of "Priesthood Ban" article dies

I could be wrong (couldn't we all at anytime and anywhere) and I don't remember the source (getting more suspect by the minute), but a guy in my ward has a sister who's best friend was on a mission with Elder McConkie's granddaughter... No, sorry, I waxed ridiculous. Cut that last part. I don't reme...

Re: Setting & maintaining a temple boundary

On the Stay LDS forum there is some thread about nuancing the temple rec questions so that you're not lying but also getting the questions right enough to get the golden ticket. I can't remember all the ideas, but I do remember thinking of a lot of that on my own whilst I was in faith crisis but sti...

Re: Thom Harrison and "Visions of Glory"

I'll weigh in to the divergent thread. I became active at about 13 years old, so may have missed some of the early programming. I've never encountered any church lesson, in EQ or anywhere else, that suggested to me in any way to punish my wife. All of the lessons regarding wife were along the lines ...

I don't follow political shit closely, but I thought for sure Trump called for the heads of those who opposed him during all that Jan 6th debacle that played out for us on national television. Now, "called for their heads" is maybe not the right description and I don't remember the exact words he us...

What does thrusting a sickle mean to you?
I don't know, but it doesn't sound like something you should be doing at church.

What was Joseph thinking when he talked about a marvelous work about to come forth?

Don't go thrusting your sickle at ward functions, Bonfire. You might get arrested.

Re: Examples of Exmormon Hypocrisy

While I'm not a fan of everything Dehlin says and does, he certainly has had guests who are clearly still Mormon. Rod Meldrum, for one. Patrick Mason for another. While Rod and Dr Mason seem very far apart in their views, they're both clearly card carrying priesthood holders. Second, no one, left/ r...
