New firearms policy...stirring the pot

So I just wrote a letter to my area president calling the church out for banning concealed firearms on church property. My two main points of contention were 1.The church leadership is quite hypocritical in building a firearms training facility for their own private guards yet forbid the membership ...

Re: MLK Jr.

I'm not sure if it is worth doing, but if change were the goal then I think more aggressive tactics are required. MLK Jr's non-violent protests weren't violent, but they were disruptive and in-your-face. I don't have a grand plan or even details on what I think should be changed, these were just so...

Re: Two private jets for Nelson and co

Not only that but there are very few commercial flights that even fly into Tonga. You would have to do some extremely strategic planning to avoid having to sit at the airport in Australia for a week waiting for a commercial flight into Tonga. Do missionaries who server in Tonga fly in and out on pr...

Re: What does the church get right?

I think the church does take care of members who have fallen on difficult times to a degree. But somehow they always seem to do it just a little begrudgingly. I have to respectfully disagree. I had a heart attack a month ago and required a bit of surgery. This was completely out of the blue. I am 4...

Re: Tithing Question + An Introduction

I had it with tithing when the church announced their firearms training center. I have a hard time giving money to the church when I can't afford to put my daughter in gymnastics. I don't live extravagantly at all. All of my cars have 100k miles. We don't have cable TV. My cell phone was $35. So it'...

Re: Two private jets for Nelson and co

After reviewing the runways at the international airports in Tonga I would say that most of the flights in there are small jets. The runways are long but the surfaces are to weak to accommodate even a fully loaded Boeing 787. Not only that but there are very few commercial flights that even fly into...

Re: Two private jets for Nelson and co

Ok I will throw in a little bit of defense here. Yes I can hardly believe it. Looking at the registrations of these aircraft one of them is out of the U.S. and the other out of Australia. My guess is that most of the entourage flew commercial to Australia while El Presidente and his cartel flew priv...

Re: Two private jets for Nelson and co

Your looking at 4k to 8k for a midsized private jet per hour and 8500-12000 per flight hour for a full size private plane. Cost is usually calculated from wheels up to wheels down.

Re: Two private jets for Nelson and co

Both of these aircraft are registered to charter companies. Now whether the church owns these companies or not is another question. However, with the number of people that have to accompany Nelson it makes financial sense to charter these planes rather than fly everyone first class. I mean he deserv...

Re: Ed Smart comes out as gay

Ed Smart destroys his family because he likes dudes and he is the world's greatest martyr. A hero more grand than old Jesus H. Christ himself. He didn't destroy his family. They are all alive and well. Nobody has claimed him as a martyr (he doesn't even own a pepperbox pistol ;) ). Invoking the nam...

Re: Ed Smart comes out as gay

So let me get this straight. Ed Smart destroys his family because he likes dudes and he is the world's greatest martyr. A hero more grand than old Jesus H. Christ himself. So let's pretend Mr. Smart destroyed his family by sleeping with the Relief Society President. My guess is that you would all sa...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

I am not implying that politics can't be discussed here. However there is a civilized way of approaching it. When someone says "old-white men," yeah I find that offensive being an old-white man. What? Because I am old and white and a man my opinions and views are somehow negated? What if I were to r...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

First off I really appreciate you bringing up this question. I am a typical NEM. I basically attend for my wife. I had a heart attack this week and the ward members were more supportive than I can imagine. I live in an older ward and I had a 70-year-old couple mow my lawn. There is an 78-year-old ma...

Re: GA Visit Review

We had some lady from some high position in the church come speak at our ward a few months ago. She told us some faith promoting stories from her youth. I became so bored/enraged at how ridiculously mundane the stories were that I stood up in the middle of the speech, grabbed my special needs son an...

If you are not a member, are leaving the church or believe that these guys are full of crap then why waste your time worrying abo...

Blashyrkh, you're very clearly not Black, or gay. I'm guessing you're not a racial minority? I'm also guessing you've been blessed by white privilege your whole life and don't have any close black relatives or friends. If you do, I would be interested if you have discussed your opinion with them No...

Re: church opposition to the Equality Act

So - if all landowners in America were white and none of them wanted to rent to anyone who was black, a nation full of homeless black people is OK then? If all store owners in America were white and none of them wanted to sell goods to anyone who was black, a nation full of starving black people is...
