Re: If you fast without posting about it on facebook, are you even fasting?

How many souls does it take to get action - I think individuals fasted, then our local ward had a fast, then our stake, then the whole church, now our church combining with all faiths......will it be enough? There must be a magic number needed to get the almighty's attention? So possibly FB is ...

Re: Is NOM going the direction of some other online groups?

This isn't necessarily my goodbye, but my experience is similar to what others have stated. In 2014-2015 I found this place really helpful (almost lifesaving) since I was the only one in my family leaving. So I really miss lots of what was posted before we lost the NOM from that time, and I haven't ...

Re: Carthage Jail

American Crucifixion by Alex Bean is a pretty good read if you want a more in depth study of the events surrounding Carthage.

Re: Lunch With Fellow NOMies

Dang it, I spaced the lunch. It slipped my mind. If I can use age as an excuse I will (I’m a month shy of 63. Anyway, sorry. I hope the lunch was fun. Missed you Deacon! We had one more seat at the table that was empty. I’m in😀👌🏽. Looking forward to it!! SIWL - Here's a link to Rubin and Ed https:// ...

CONGRATULATIONS RUBINHIGHLANDER!!!

Another example of the church losing some of the best. Also one of those family success stories that give so many of us hope for a better tomorrow ;)

Glad I saw this review, I was pretty skeptical about the narrative of this movie, but I may check it out also.

Re: Lunch With Fellow NOMies

I’d do lunch in downtown SLC, my only problem is that I don’t get on here very often, but I’ll try and check and see if anything gets organized.

Re: Prophet Alert

I have a feeling that the alert went off because the current title holder wants to prophecy more than anyone else I've seen.....Just a gut feeling (as opposed to true revelation), but I think we'll see some "prophecy" this coming weekend.

Re: Avatar Size (MODS)

Wow - I haven't been here for awhile - and then I read this thread and realize I recognize all the names. Seems like old times. Hi guys. Hagoth - do you sometimes attend St. Judas still? I went a couple weeks ago. Would love to meet the Tapir rider in person sometime;)

I would love to meet you guys. I work downtown, so if a lunch happens, I’d love to join. I don’t get on here often, but I’ll try and watch and see if something gets organized.

Re: Gateway Mall Lunch Possible Resurection

Hey folks, I'm working in downtown SLC now, and would love to meet for lunch. I haven't been on this site for a few months, so I'm out of the loop, but I'll try and watch for the next time if you don't mind me joining. I'm tentatively watching for the Aug 23rd date for now. Cheers!

Re: "Do you still visit that website (NOM)?"

For what it's worth, I'm checking in here for the first time in many weeks. Nothing has changed with me, so I suppose that is evidence that freqenting NOM is not what keeps us believing in reality over myth. As others have pointed out, it certainly is comforting to be able read and converse with ...

Re: Conference Report and Analysis

But one thing I was struck by at this conference is the contradictions of big tent mormonism - on the one hand, you have Holland calling for more compassion, and even used the (gasp :o ) GAY word in conference, but then IN THE SAME TALK, warned people not to be too individualistic. Then Renlund and ...

Re: "These issues have all been debunked"

This anecdote is sort of analogous and I think it's both funny and true about how people deal with information that doesn't fit comfortably in their world view: Of course, not everyone likes the idea of spreading scientific understanding. Remember what the Bishop of Birmingham’s wife is reputed to h ...

Re: SIWL checking in

Since my favorite penguin, Moksha, has started a list of what SIWL might stand for, I decided I’d better set the record straight. It’s actually a pretty lame screen name & I was thinking about changing it, but decided to keep it just in case anyone from the old site might remember me. The story goes ...

SIWL checking in

Hi All, Glad I found my way back finally. I actually found this place a while back, but had some trouble getting registered and then found it hard to find time to post. Our firewall blocks this new site at work and I'm slow typing on my phone and I rarely take time to sit at a computer at home. So I ...
