Will there also be a live audience? It would be fun to attend.
That is the plan - last I saw RFM posted on Facebook that they were looking for a venue that could hold around 100 people and I believe the idea is that each side could have about 50 there.

Re: Not historical?

I think this is probably Nelson's way of trying to diminish the importance of the historical truth while still maintaining that space for believers. It's a good way to work with potential converts too because it can sidestep the historical issues and just say "it's based on historical events but sti...

Re: Debate night: RFM vs Midnight Mormoms

I think it's smart of RFM to go it alone as well... it allows him to stay on his gameplan without any worry of another person (whoever it might be) throwing him off. This will be one I will try to listen to live even though it will be when everyone is around so we'll see - I have high hopes even if ...

Re: Debate night: RFM vs Midnight Mormoms

a debate format is a rather different beast than we usually see. Anything could happen and it's entirely possible for both audiences to be slightly disappointed while both RFM and Midnight Mormons declare victory. This is my prediction FWIW... much like a presidential debate, both sides will talk p...

Re: Soaking and Jump Humping in the news

This thread ended up getting me suspended from TikTok for 3 days. Apparently you can do videos that are talking about all sorts of sex acts, but post a clip of a TV show talking about soaking and that's, as TikTok puts it, "Nudity or Explicit Sexual Activity." It's from the Get Shorty TV serie...

Re: Soaking and Jump Humping in the news

"Jump-humping" is killing me. I am literally crying with mirth as I type. I can't even finish the Post article. This is the most beautiful BS I've read in a long time. Did they manage to get any believing Mormons to comment? I don't think they had believing Mormons, but there was another one I saw ...

Soaking and Jump Humping in the news

there have been a lot of people on TikTok making videos about soaking and now 'jump humping' within Mormonism and it's been hitting the news lately... I had a never-Mormon friend message me a screenshot that just said "WTF is this?" It's funny how Mormonism's absurd rules and control lead to things ...

Re: Which doubts to doubt?

We should doubt the thoughts that interfere with following the true order of priesthood authority and doctrines of the church. This is a great list and is sadly all too true. The "doubt your doubts" talk always bothered me because as a convert I was literally told to doubt what I was raised to beli...

Re: The Progressive Mormon Debate

For those who are interested, her post can be found @ https://www.facebook.com/lindsay.park.7/posts/10222783147318654 I don't follow the back and forth a ton, but I know there's always a backlash to the 'progressive' Mormons because they fight to defend the church's foundation while constantly admit...

Re: Recent temple procedural adjustments

That's interesting as I just read on another Mormon Forum that rumors are (from a few "insiders") that the leaders are soon to announce that garments are only to be worn inside the temple. They say that many of the younger couples don't want to wear garments and some are choosing not to marry in th...

Re: Nephew Engagement Announcement

It might be that I've never had a good experience telling family members that any decision is a bad idea, but I think any nudging you give that this might not be a good idea will be met with hard pushback/retrenchment. Although I would wonder if maybe you could say congrats and maybe try to open a c...

Re: General Konference Predictions

I'm curious to see how the church threads the needle between those who need to see the church doing real good as you describe and those who think Jeffrey's talk was a good first step but need to see some "liberals" fired before they'll believe that BYU Provo is anything but a den of spiritual croco...

Re: General Konference Predictions

One small prediction that I'll make is that the speakers will put a HEAVY focus on what makes the church "good." I think that given that the church is facing backlash for its LGBT stance and its massive wealth that they will make an effort to really trumpet their donations and community efforts to t...

The last GenCon was a complete nothingburger so you'd think this one will have SOMETHING exciting. What that could be is anyone's guess, but I think a lot of people expected it last time too with all of the COVID stuff and it never happened...

Re: When else has the prophet been deceived?

This is a question that has a lot of answers and none of them are helpful for the church, but getting someone to answer the question is impossible as you noted in your post...

It's akin to asking "What would you need to hear/see to know the church wasn't true?"

Re: Who still believes in prayer?

I tried to hang on to prayer for a long time after losing faith in Mormonism, but at this point it's gone. For every story like this there are just as many stories of people who prayed and were either never answered or it ended up being the wrong choice. I think we always ignore the times it didn't ...

Re: Missing Gospel Topics Essays

I would bet good money that it's just another one of those website glitches that will come back. I believe you can still access them on the app? Since the church has actually referenced these in a few face-to-face kind of events I just see no way these get yanked. If they were going to make changes ...
