Re: This is a great thread on AskReddit, insane stories from the Bible.

"Circumcision of the heart" is a risible metaphor. (See for example Jeremiah iv: 4.)

Computer programming. What do you write in? I've moved to mostly Python, just recently learning web design using the Django framework. Super fun stuff. Something has clicked with CSS recently. JavaScripts...not so much. I started with Ruby, Perl, and Java, but I do mostly C, C++, and x86 asse...

Re: New post to get off the 666 topics previously posted

Does this make 664 the neighbor of the Beast? I think 665 would be the neighbor of the beast. Or 667. I guess that makes 664 the neighbor of the neighbor of the beast... In my neighbourhood in Texas, house numbers skipped four. So the next-door neighbours of the Beast would be 662 and 670, and acro...

Re: What about the Bible?

A loathsome concatenation of Iron Age myths which, by an unfortunate series of geopolitical accidents, became the dominant religious paradigm in the world. Any good in it is as diamonds in a dunghill. What is good in the Bible is not unique, and what is unique is not good. Edited to add that back wh...

Re: Nonsense language

I almost forgot how many Mormon phrases probably mean absolutely nothing to outsiders. How about this one: "The measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" Are there others? Sorry Brian but while the general statement may be true your example is lousy That is a precise quote of Ephesians 4;13...

I don't remember the name of the last speaker (it's one of the Q-12), but I'd give him a -25 for blatant suck-up content.

Re: Priesthood Session Wrap-Up

Just as the generative power (the self-same generative power which is wasted on pornographic images) was given to men only, so was the Priesthood of God, which includes the power to generate worlds without end.

Same pabulum as always, with a high likelihood of Oaks, Bednar, Rasband, and/or Holland saying something highly heinous and/or stupid.

Re: Need something mindless to do during conference...ideas?

If your cohabitants are in positions of authority over you (like mine are) then I do not recommend anything with a phone. A better tactic is to get a notebook for doodling or other purposes. In mine, I have written story ideas and electronic circuit designs, and the process of generating them looks ...
